Skiing and snowboarding at Mont Tremblant

I’ve been to Quebec many times for a slew of adventures, including dog sledding, ziplining, offroading (in a Range Rover), snowshoeing and rafting. That said, I’ve never been there for sole purpose of hitting the slopes, until now.

For this wintertime excursion, I made my way to Mont Tremblant, just an hour and half drive from Montreal. Here, I found a majestic mountain with more than 600 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain. So it’s easy to see why it’s known as one of the best places to ski in Canada.

At more than 2,800 feet, it a phenomenal playground for kids and adults. In the early 1900s, it was discovered by a Philadelphia explorer searching for gold. He quickly realized the potential of the landscape. And, by early 1929, the world-class alpine village was built.

Today the village has grown to include shopping, loads of restaurants and more than 50 buildings of accommodations. Don’t worry, though, if you prefer not to spend every waking moment skiing. There are plenty of other options. Try your hand at ice climbing. Or, learn the art of dog sledding. Then relax a bit on a horse-drawn sleigh ride or head to a Nordic spa.
