Special Honeymoon Excursions and Activities at La Selva Jungle Lodge, Ecuador

Butterfly in the Butterfly FarmVisit to the Butterfly Farm. You will have behind the scenes access to the butterfly farm like very few guests have ever had and if you are just a little patient our Farm Director can show you metamorphosis: something like the complete change that you may feel like you are going through personally just like that butterfly. You’ll get the chance to take a couple of butterflies from the farm to release them into the forest.

Ride on an Amazon Gondola. Another special excursion is the Amazon Gondolier where one of our indigenous staff takes you out before dusk in a dugout canoe or kayak and paddles the two of you slowly around the borders of our beautiful tranquil lake Garzacocha. If you want he’ll point out the animals and birds or if you find the solitude more romantic you’ll barely hear the sound of his paddle in the water. The beverage of your choice goes along with you, courtesy of La Selva.

Romantic Candlelight Dinner on the Water. One night you’ll have a candlelit dockside dinner over the lake with a private waiter and a table just for two. We’ll light up the entire dock with a trail of candles that leads to your table. Complimentary cocktails and wine are included.

Breakfast in the Canopy Tower. Another morning you’ll have breakfast 135 feet high above the forest in our canopy tower at dawn. The tower is one of the most coveted spots at the lodge because of the wildlife sightings and perspective from there. So bring your camera and we’ll bring the food and impeccable service for two.

Balsa Wood Boat Launch for Luck & Fortune. On your last night we have a honeymoon tradition. The happy couple, now so full of the forest launches a small balsa wood boat with two candles in it. The candles carry each partner’s wishes for their new marriage and the boat is the vessel for their hopes and dreams. Drinks are on the house as the couple watch their hopes sail toward a successful future.

La Selva is a honeymoon destination and experience that cannot be missed, having been rated by the New York Times as one of the must-visit destinations for 2008.
