Daily Photo: Stingray

Daily Photo: StingrayPhoto by Travis Snelling

This stingray was swimming by itself in the giant (millions and millions of gallons of water) aquarium at Atlantis in the Bahamas.

There seemed to be at least a dozen stingrays about this size just gracefully floating around, minding their own business.  For some reason I always figured stingrays were relatively stationary animals that only moved when necessary.  Not the case (well, not in captivity at Atlantis anyway).  These guys roam!  It seems everywhere you look in the aquariums you can see stingrays buzzing by.

I’ve got a bunch of photos of the creatures found in the aquariums at Atlantis that I’ll be posting as Photo-of-the-Day features in time so stay tuned!
