Heavy rainfall hit most of northwest China's Shaanxi province on Monday and Tuesday. Streets were flooded in the provincial capital Xi'an, causing traffic jams. There was a similar situation in the city of Baoji. Slow-moving vehicles formed a long queue in the rain. Some of them were forced to pull onto the sidewalk. On Monday afternoon, the provincial capital of Hebei province Shijiazhuang was hit by rainstorm and temporary hale storm. The rainstorm was accompanied by thunderbolts and strong gales. Inner Mongolia has experienced consecutive days of rain. On June the 26th, the Xilinhe Reservoir in the city of Xilinhot experienced its biggest flood peak since it was built decades ago. Floods triggered by heavy rains damaged roads, bridges, collapsed houses and submerged croplands in some remote areas. Rescue and relief operations are being carried out in all affected areas. A storm on Sunday night prompted authorities to evacuate more than 20-thousand people from Xuyong County of Luzhou City, in Sichuan province. The authorities' quick response and effective deployment meant that people escaped well before the area flooded. As a result, no one was injured. On Tuesday, a rainstorm hit the city of Zhaotong, Yunnan province. Many low-lying areas of the city were flooded. The floodwaters flowed into some single-story buildings, and traffic was disrupted. In Zhenxiong County of Zhaotong City, 172 millimeters of rain fell on Tuesday alone, a record high in 50 years.
