Liminal Inception consists of 8 millimeter film shot in the beginning of the seventies, mixed with digital video from the same locations in 2004. The sequence from Vassfaret shows the property that has been in my family for generations, and the footage from Bøler was shot on the balcony where we lived for a few years when I grew up. Territories are divided in different net of overlapping patterns of ownerships and border crossings. In same way time is split up in calendar based celebrations as new year, birthdays, religious rituals etc., often a notability of one transformation to another, marking episodes in life as the first day at school, confirmation, exams etc.Liminality points out the space between generations, historical periods or cultural collectives, between politics and ethics, or theory and practice.
