Comandante Ramona con musica de Mercedes Sosa La Comandanta Ramona fue una mujer indígena tzotzil y comandante del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional de Chiapas, México, que falleció el 6 de enero de 2006 a causa de cáncer en el riñón. El término "comandanta", si bien no es usado en español, sí era el nombre de su cargo en el EZLN, para referirse a ella en particular. Fue una de las representantes más destacadas del EZLN durante los primeros años de vida pública del movimiento. Cautivó a muchísima gente de México y el mundo gracias a su sencillez e integridad. El grupo musical chicano Quetzal de Los Angeles grabó el tema Todos somos Ramona en su honor.

TUXTLA GUTIÉRREZ, México (AFP) - Un toro de Chiapas se encuentra preso desde hace un mes acusado de causar destrozos en los terrenos fronterizos que se disputan dos localidades en el estado del sureste de México. ADVERTISEMENT Un indígena tzotzil, propietario del animal, dijo que el 1 de marzo pasado el bóvido se perdió, por lo que acudió al Juzgado Indígena de Paz y Reconciliación de su localidad para dar cuenta del extravío. Ahí fue informado sobre la detención del toro por parte de la comunidad vecina, acusado de destruir una parcela de milpa y causar destrozos en dos casas, por lo que exigen el pago de cerca de 654 dólares. Para el propietario la multa es mayor al valor del toro, que es de unos 420 dólares y asegura que no puede pagar la infracción. Además, alega que es falso que su toro haya causado destrozos. Ante la falta de un acuerdo entre el dueño del toro y los presuntos afectados, un juez indígena de Paz y Reconciliación determinará la suerte del toro. En Chiapas es común entre los indígenas retener en las cárceles rurales a animales como borregos, perros y caballos, cuando se meten en terrenos que no son de sus propietarios, y son liberados cuando los dueños pagan los daños. En el siglo XV (año 1486) fueron dominados por los aztecas al mando de Tiltotol, siendo obligados a pagar tributos. Bochil significa: "Las jícaras", viene del tzotzil boch, jícara, y a este respecto se sabe que la fundadora del pueblo era llamada jicaranga. En la época de la Colonia, los conquistadores durante el repar de tierras formaron la hacienda San Pedro Mártir Bochil. Para 1724. Localización El municipio se localiza en las Montañas del Norte del estado, siendo la totalidad de su territorio montañoso, sus coordenadas geográficas son 17º 00' N y 92º 53' W.Su altitud es de 1,150 msnm.

"We achieved our dream to live in San Cristóbal in 1950 when we bought this house. The main building was built in 1891.aside from its poor state, it was ideal for our plans. We wanted to give the house a name and then remembered Frans' first visit with the Lacandones in which they transformed his name to "Balum" which sounds similar to "Jaguar". In Tzotzil, the Maya language of the highlands, "Blom" converts to "Bolom" which practically sounds like Frans' last name.
