Rotating supersolid helium
The heart of Chan and Kim's experimental apparatus is a disk filled with solid helium-4. To run the experiment, they hang the disk from a stiff rod and oscillate the disk back and forth. By measuring the frequency of oscillation, the scientists detect whether the solid helium-4 behaves like a supersolid. An oscillating disk of normal matter, for example, behaves as expected: Because the atoms are rigidly linked, they rotate together. In an oscillating disk of supersolid matter, many of the atoms rotate, but some do not. Instead, those atoms slip through the lattice like a superfluid, with no friction whatsoever, and sit motionless. That reduces the mass of the disk, which allows it to oscillate faster. This animation has been exaggerated. In fact, the fraction of helium-4 atoms that refuse to rotate is closer to only 1 percent. And the oscillation frequency Chan and Kim measured—how many times the disk changes direction over a period of time—is actually closer to 1000 times per second. The amplitude of the oscillation—the distance the disk moves in either direction—is not much bigger than the width of a single atom. Credit: Trent L. 1970 MERCURY CYCLONE 429 CJ SPOILER FOR SALE UPDATE SOLD!!!!
This is a very very rare 1970 Mercury Cyclone 429 CJ Spoiler. This was purchased new at johnny Hass motors in lakewood, colorodo, 80215 on 10/19/1970 a full year after it was built 10/20/1969. It stayed in Colorodo until 2006 when it came to Pa. this is why it has a rust free body and all original sheetmetal. These were built for 2 years 1970 and 71. There was only 1,631 of these made in 1970, how many are left today? This was Mercury's version of the muscle car and what a car it is. It came factory with a 429 Cobra Jet motor rated at 370 Hp but we all know it was more like 425 Hp in reality as well as a factory ram air insuction hood and air cleaner. This is a super solid original car. The engine is matching numbers but the tranny is not. This had a C-6 auto from the factory but was changed a couple of years ago with all the correct 4-speed equipment from another 1970 spoiler SCJ so it has all the correct parts. The car still has all of it's original sheetmetal. All the trim and bumpers are perfect and beautiful. The interior is all original and near like new condition. The dash is %100 and has NO crack which is very rare being as the shape of the dash made them prone to cracks. This is a factory grabber green car with only one repaint and a very nice jog it is. It had the correct side decals as well as the original front and rear spoilers. All the gauges work great as well as everyhting else. This was a true console car as well ans still has the original rims which are in mint condition. This is priced to sell very quick. Please call me at 570-875-7109 to discuss the price or if you have any questions or want to make a appointmnet to view it. Thanks so much. Marty |

I am confident when I tell you that the new Destination Rotation Single comes the closest to sounding like a mic'd up, single rotating speaker cabinet than any other effect available. The masses agree, I have been swamped with orders and fully satisfied customers thus far! Here are the features, all based on practicality and customer suggestion: • Smooth overdrive feature with footswitch and level trimmer. • Top mounted trimmers for slow and fast speed tweaking. • Microphone placement control for effect depth. • Realistic speed up/down ramping effect. • Standard 9 volt wallwart operation. • Low profile box (Voodoo Lab size) • True Bypass. Flourish Music Video "Simple Things"
Flourish: The Family That Plays Together... Rocks the Music Industry Together. Article by Laura Jenney Of Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions 4-12-08 As a music industry exec, differentiating and assessing the highest margin marketing potential of a band is rather simple. We're looking for the exceptional. There's impressive, extremely impressive, and 'knock you off your desk chair' impressive. The latter is an extremely rare find, and I am very pleased to say, that I have recently encountered it. (Admittedly, I have only done so maybe three times throughout my entire professional career as a music industry executive.) When I scrolled down the page of Flourish's MySpace site to take a look at Flourish's photos to see WHO exactly these exceptionally talented musicians were who were delivering this extremely tight and positive sound, I almost fell off my office chair! (No easy feat, as I listen to a vast amount of music from multitudes of great artists of all genres on an everyday basis.) Surprise! That impressively skilled drummer delivering those challenging chops was none other than 9 year old, (at the time of recording the tracks), Chris "CJ" Schmidt, Jr. (now 10)! Those super solid, hard thumping bass licks, (and vocals), were performed by his sister, Amanda Schmidt, (Age 12)! Those tight and crunchy guitar licks and vocals were by sisters Jordan Schmidt, (Age 14), Stephanie Schmidt, (Age 16), and Dad, Chris "Shmiddy" Schmidt, Sr! And of course, the very lovely and talented Mom, Shannon Schmidt on keyboards! Without question, what the band Flourish is accomplishing as both musicians, creating a very highly and broadly marketable music product, also as a family, and as examples of excellent parenting and social upbringing, creating a very viable 'family business' in the process, while inspiring and carving a path that others can follow if inclined, is beyond cool and impressive on so many levels! Not only was I impressed, I was inspired, and even quite moved. From the perspective of a music industry executive, it's a no brainer that the band Flourish's potential for the marketing of Flourish's CD's, concert ticket sales, (especially featured at festivals and major theme parks everywhere), the potential capital to be gained from media appearances, DVD sales etc., is like nothing less than discovering music industry gold! Really...what is more marketable than an extremely talented virtuoso? An entire family of them, making great music with an extremely high quality of musicianship, working together as a team, with the true solidarity of a family, with great and equally talented parents at the helm, delivering a positive message and inspiring others! On a personal level, I applaud Chris and Shannon Schmidt for their sheer genius as both parents and professionals. Flourish is set to release their entirely independently produced debut CD, "Flourish With Us" (recorded at their own studio, Renown Studios), in the very near future. One can check out and experience the high energy, rock solid musicianship that the band Flourish has to offer on this truly outstanding upcoming CD for yourself by visiting their MySpace site Flourish credits co-producer David Baldi with several of the punk rock influenced tracks originated by the talented guitarist/producer who also tracked/engineered and co-mixed portions of the album. Flourish's musical influences include: Reliant K, Switch Foot, Smashmouth, Blink 182, Green Day, The Ramones, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, New Found Glory, Eric Clapton, Panic at the Disco, The Ataris, Taking Back Sunday, Bowling for Soup, Third Eye Blind, and others. Though not particularly mentioned as an influence, Flourish's song "Temporary Youth" reminds me in style, quality and sound of REM. Together Flourish is proving true much more than the old adage that "the family that plays together stays together". But in the case of the 'America's family band' Flourish, they have the ability to inspire others, make a large-scale difference in the lives of others, and 'totally rock the music industry together'. Look for them to do just that in the very near future! The End. Best regards, Laura Jenney Executive Vice President, PR, Press & Media Relations Specialist Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions Manager of Florida office, Booking Agent, PR, Press & Media Relations Rep T&T Management and Booking Agency 904-777-6057 |

Love - By The Constituents
A song by New Zealand Band, The Constituents. www.myspace.com/theconstituentsband The Constituents bring you a sound reminiscent of when legends like Bill Withers, Otis Redding and Donny Hathaway pounded the charts and stages all over the world. Their combined elements constitute a fusion of Fresh Soul and Righteous R&B that is seldom heard but often thought about to warm your ears and soothe your soul. Matt Newdick dishes up super solid Bass the way it should be played. P K Hoskin sits in the pocket with his light touch and heavy groove on the kit. Nathan Billings provides sweet velvet voicings and smooth undertones ..s while Soul-rific melodies and coma awakening licks on the Gat are on the menu from Sam Lindsay . Finishing the quintet is Hendrix Warren, offering vocals that leave nothing to the imagination. After listening to The Constituents, its not hard to surmise that the sound they generate embraces soul in its purest form. Performing live, they have the ability to both relax you with a super mellow vibe and excite you with driving rhythms and power personified vocals |

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater speedrun
By Randy 'Discombobulator' Buikema. Author's comments: A couple of things here to note before the comments on the actual run. One way to get points efficiently is to do a spinning backflip, which entails executing the special trick of a backflip, and also holding left or right on the control stick on the N64 controller. I'm not sure if this is possible to do on the Playstation, but it sure helps get the points' goals for the N64 version :) Another note on the overall calculation of speed for the run. Brad "Cyberwrath" Cutler gave me a nice tip on bypassing all the time spent on the menus after completing goals at the end of a level. Instead of chosing "End Run" when you completed the goals you wish to complete, you chose "Retry", then when the level restarts again, you quickly chose "End Run." This is quicker because you don't have to wait for the game to list all the goals you completed, and also the goals still register as completed when you hit "Retry", so it's just a bit more efficient for the overall speed of the run. Now for the fun part, commenting on the run itself! Character Choice: I use Geoff Rowley because I like the button combination for his special grind, and he also has a backflip special trick which is necessary. I also switch to "tight" trucks which allows for quicker turning ability. Warehouse Woodland Hills Time: 26 seconds Tapes Achieved: 5/5 This run was pretty nice overall. I had a small hiccup when I got the "A" on the cab, because I hit it at a goofy angle and it slowed me down a bit. I didn't lose too much time though. School Miami Time: 22 Seconds Tapes Achieved: 3/5 Super solid run, basically exactly what I was going for. Mall New York Time: 53 Seconds Tapes Achieved: 5/5 This run was really pretty. It was one of my best runs on mall ever, which made me happy :) Skate Park Chicago Times: First Round: 8 Seconds Second Round: 5 Seconds Medal Achieved: Bronze Chicago Is a nice quick level, not much to say here :P Downtown Minneapolis Time: 54 Seconds Tapes Achieved: 5/5 I really love my strategy on Minneapolis. It was definitely the hardest strategy both to come up with, and to execute. A few really hard parts in this level. The first of those is getting the tape while doing a spinning backflip, and landing on the platform leading to the "S" The height and location of the tape makes the timing difficult, as well as executing the boneless at the perfect moment. Also the angle of the jump is super important. If you go too sharp, you hit the wall and fall, and if you go too wide, you miss the platform entirely. The other really hard part is acquiring the "T" The camera is the main reason for the toughness of this. Getting the angle just right is tough, as well as nailing the timing off the little bump of a ramp. Downhill Jam Phoenix Time: 1 Minute 2 Seconds Tapes Achieved: 5/5 I really enjoy the pace of the first part of Downhill Jam. It's intense! The only mishap in this run is a missed spinning backflip off the jump stemming from the long ramp underground and out to get the "T" Didn't lose any time though, as I did a spinning backflip off the ramp to the left, as I set up for getting up to the rail to get the "E" Also, it saves time to "suicide" at the end by falling into the water, because it sets you up right in front of the last valve. :) Burnside Portland Times: First Round: 12 Seconds Second Round: 12 Seconds Medal Achieved: Bronze Pretty straight-forward level. Nothing special here :) Streets San Francisco Time: 44 Seconds Tapes Achieved: 3/5 Well, San Fransisco was where I had my first major hiccup. A very tricky part, where you go forward off a ramp to wallride and jump up to a platform that winds around to the top of a building leading to the hidden tape, can be glitchy at times. If you don't hit the perfect angle, you either crash into the wall, or do a floating jump. Unfortunately on this run, I did a floater, and had to circle around and do it again. Also in the unfortunate realm, at the top of the building with the huge ramp, I somehow missed the 180 degree turn to go off the ramp, and had to do a wily little 360 degree-ish turn to re-align myself to launch off the ramp and snag the tape. Oh well, the other levels make up for it I'll assume ;) Roswell New Mexico Times: First Round: 9 seconds Second Round: 9 seconds Medal Achieved: Bronze And finally, Roswell! Yay! This was a perfect execution of a basic strategy, which made me very happy as my heart rate was pumping at this point :P Two tricks each run = Bronze Medal = finished run. I'd finally like to thank Cyberwrath, once again, for continuously nagging me over nearly a year for me to figure out how to compress the run, and to actually submit it :P I hope you enjoy the run as much as I enjoyed doing it! |
