Com vinhos de todo o país, o torneio no Santo Estêvão, em pleno Ribatejo - também uma região vinícola - marcou o mote para disputar o Wines of Portugal Golf Cup 2008. Perto de uma centena de jogadores, aproveitaram o feriado do 5 de Outubro, para um torneio temático à volta do vinho. Um torneio à medida, onde cada buraco teve o nome de uma marca de vinho. Após a prova de vinhos e almoço, já no interior do Club House distribuíram-se os vários prémios do torneio. Luís Carvalho, do ACP Clube, foi o grande vencedor stableford net com 41 pontos, seguido de Albino Timóteo, do Montado e Américo Maia ambos com 38 pontos. Além de uma tômbola de prémios, houve 3 prémios skill, intitulados: third shot the pin. Neste conceito premiava-se a destreza, na distância e na precisão. No buraco 18, um par 5, à terceira tacada, o jogador que colocasse a bola mais perto do buraco, vencia o prémio. Albino Timóteo, Mateus Marques e Firmino Galego foram os que obtiveram melhores resultados.

Slide show of photos from the first Cyder Cup (Golf) Competition held in Portugal on Nov 8th to 10th 2007. The event was hosted by the Vigia Group and held in Parque da Floresta which is an excellent 5 star resort in the Western Algarve with a testing and mature golf course. The local Portuguese team was narrowly defeated by a competitive Irish Team, captained by the charismatic Martin Lynch. The competition was a better ball stableford format, with 12 players from each team. Total points from each pairing counted to the overall score, which kept the pressure on right to the end. The Irish Team won by 7 points and returned the Cyder Cup to Stephen Murphy in Dublin, who created and organised the event but could not attend due to health reasons. The Irish team will host our Portuguese friends in a return match in Dublin in September 2008, so watch this space...

El Club de Campo Villa de Madrid celebró el torneo Social de Royal Air Maroc con una extraordinaria participación.
