After marking out, the ski-tip terminations are scalloped with a carving knife. A small spokeshave is then used to carve each side to the lines, and the flats are smoothed to the terminations by light sanding. The carved surfaces are flattened by scraping and any remaining marks removed by sanding. Finally, the key is finished with scraping followed by burnishing with fine steel wool.
