Kingdom Hearts II -067- Simba's Decision

Controversies The Lion King controversy The Lion King was originally advertised as being the first animated Disney film not based on an already-existing story. However, elements of the film bear a resemblance to a famous 1960s Japanese anime television show, Kimba the White Lion. One similarity between the two is that the protagonists' names (Kimba and Simba) are very similar. Other parallels include that most characters in Kimba have an analogue in The Lion King and that various individual scenes are nearly identical in composition and camera angle. Early production artwork on the Lion King Platinum Edition DVD even depicts a white lion. Disney's official stance is that any resemblance is coincidental, and directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff stated that they were well into the development process before the Kimba similarity was identified. Despite the resemblances between the film and the series, the family of Osamu Tezuka, Kimba's creator, has not filed a lawsuit. The character designs and scenes are the only things that have been speculated to be taken from Kimba, the story from the anime and the Lion King story are quite different. The filmmakers, however, admitted that the story of The Lion King was inspired by the 1942 Disney animated film Bambi, the Joseph and Moses stories from the Bible, and William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Christopher Vogler, in his book The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure For Writers, described Disney's request that he suggest how to improve the plot of The Lion King by incorporating ideas from Hamlet. The plot is noted as sharing some striking elements with the West African Epic of Sundiata. Alleged subliminal message The alleged "SEX" frameIn one scene of the film's original VHS and LaserDisc releases, it appears that the word "SEX" was embedded into the dust flying in the sky when Simba flops down, which conservative activist Donald Wildmon asserted was a subliminal message intended to promote sexual promiscuity. However, the films' animators have stated that the letters spell "SFX" (a common abbreviation of "special effects"), and was a sort of innocent "signature" signed by the effects animation team to the work they did. Due to the controversy it had caused, the image has been edited out of the 2003 DVD and VHS editions and ends the scene by fading away into the following scene. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" The use of the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in a scene with Timon and Pumbaa has led to disputes between Disney and the family of South African Solomon Linda, who composed the song (originally titled "Mbube") in 1939. In July 2004, the family filed suit, seeking $1.6 million in royalties from Disney. In February 2006, Linda's heirs reached a legal settlement with Abilene Music, who held the worldwide rights and had licensed the song to Disney for an undisclosed amount of money. Alleged racism Upon its release, some critics complained that the hyenas in the film depicted negative racial stereotypes of urban blacks and Hispanics. It has been argued the "despicable hyena storm troopers speak...in racially coded accents that take on the nuances of the discourse of a decidedly urban, black, and Latino youth." Hamas' propaganda In August 2007, the Hamas militant organization produced an animated propaganda film that allegedly mimicked the style of The Lion King. The program was aired via their television station, Al-Aqsa TV. Hamas was portrayed as a lion that chased and killed rats that bore the likenesses of members of the secular Fatah organization in Gaza. The program was briefly aired but was pulled off the air for revision.

Quantum Computing Day 2: Image Recognition with an Adiabatic Quantum Computer

Google Tech Talks December, 13 2007 ABSTRACT This tech talk series explores the enormous opportunities afforded by the emerging field of quantum computing. The exploitation of quantum phenomena not only offers tremendous speed-ups for important algorithms but may also prove key to achieving genuine synthetic intelligence. We argue that understanding higher brain function requires references to quantum mechanics as well. These talks look at the topic of quantum computing from mathematical, engineering and neurobiological perspectives, and we attempt to present the material so that the base concepts can be understood by listeners with no background in quantum physics. In this second talk, we make the case that machine learning and pattern recognition are problem domains well-suited to be handled by quantum routines. We introduce the adiabatic model of quantum computing and discuss how it deals more favorably with decoherence than the gate model. Adiabatic quantum computing can be understood as an annealing process that outperforms classical approaches to optimization by taking advantage of quantum tunneling. We also discuss the only large-scale adiabatic quantum hardware that exists today, built by D-Wave. We present detailed theoretical and experimental evidence showing that the D-Wave chip does indeed operate in a quantum regime. We report about an object recognition system we designed using the adiabatic quantum computer. Our system uses a combination of processing steps, where some are executed on classical hardware while others take advantage of the quantum chip. Both interest point selection and feature extraction are accomplished using classical filter operations reminiscent of receptive field properties of neurons in the early visual pathways. Image matching then proceeds by maximizing geometrical consistency and similarity between corresponding feature points, which is an NP-hard optimization problem. To obtain good solutions, we map this to the problem of finding the minimum energy in an Ising model in which the vertices represent candidate match pairs, bias terms reflect feature similarity, and interaction terms account for geometric consistency. The adiabatic quantum computer is then employed to find a low energetic minimum of the Ising dynamics. We conclude with a look towards which type of machine learning problems maybe most suitable for mapping to a quantum computing architecture. Speaker: Hartmut Neven Speaker: Dr. Geordie Rose Geordie Rose is a founder and CTO of D-Wave. He is known as a leading advocate for quantum computing and physics-based processor design, and has been invited to speak on these topics in venues ranging from the 2003 TED Conference to Supercomputing 2005. His innovative and ambitious approach to building quantum computing technology has received coverage in BC Business, The Vancouver Sun, Vancouver magazine, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, USA Today, MIT Technology Review magazine, the Harvard Business Review and Business 2.0 magazine, and one of his business strategies was profiled in a Harvard Business School case study. He has received several awards and accolades for his work with D-Wave, including being short-listed for a 2005 World Technology Award. Dr. Rose holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of British Columbia, specializing in quantum effects in materials. While at McMaster University, he graduated first in his class with a BEng in Engineering Physics, specializing in semiconductor engineering. Since the inception of D-Wave in 1999, Dr. Rose, as founding CEO, raised over $45M on behalf of the company, including a round led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) — the first ever investment by a top-tier US venture capital firm in quantum computing.

Baraka - Part 5 of 10

The word Baraka means "blessing" in several languages; watching this film, the viewer is blessed with a dazzling barrage of images that transcend language. Filmed in 24 countries and set to an ever-changing global soundtrack, the movie draws some surprising connections between various peoples and the spaces they inhabit, whether that space is a lonely mountaintop or a crowded cigarette factory. Some of these attempts at connection are more successful than others: for instance, an early sequence segues between the daily devotions of Tibetan monks, Orthodox Jews, and whirling dervishes, finding more similarity among these rituals than one might expect. And there are other amazing moments, as when sped-up footage of a busy Hong Kong intersection reveals a beautiful symmetry to urban life that could only be appreciated from the perspective of film. The lack of context is occasionally frustrating--not knowing where a section was filmed, or the meaning of the ritual taking place--and some of the transitions are puzzling. However, the DVD includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette in which cinematographer Ron Fricke (Koyaanisqatsi) explains that the effect was intentional: "It's not where you are that's important, it's what's there." And what's here, in Baraka, is a whole world summed up in 104 minutes. --Larisa Lomacky Moore Part 1 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=dtiqrzmuWbw Part 2 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=11QZiQFXTow Part 3 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=U-sjmX9c450 Part 4 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=8DMA0c7KdYk Part 5 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=aa_VUrys0j8 Part 6 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=in91EpP9US0 Part 7 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=5Qd8RhogIMY Part 8 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=kbCNaGoaqLc Part 9 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=9hU-Zb1BRmw Part 10 - http://youtube.com/watch?v=CZYj55TAENY To purchase the full DVD, click here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005M91K/ref=pd_cp_d_0?pf_rd_p=316286001

Yes, Always

Pinky and Brain record soe lines at the studio. To understand this, you have to know about Orson wells and his classic 'Frozen Peas' recording. Excerpt from Pinky & the Brain Wikipedia article: "Brain's similarity to Orson Welles was made explicit in the Animaniacs episode Yes, Always, which was based upon an outtake from one of Welles' television commercials, colloquially known as Frozen Peas, in which he ranted about the poor quality of the script. This cartoon was described by writer Peter Hastings as "a $250,000 inside joke": LaMarche used excerpts from it as sound check material, and Hastings took it to its logical conclusion." Frozen peas wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frozen_Peas ^ there is a script of the original recording if you scroll down and somewhere's a link to audio of the recording. It's funnier if you know the inside joke ;P

The Hive

The Hive: The beehive is a woman's hairstyle that resembles a beehive. It is also known as the B-52, for its similarity to the bulbous nose of the B-52 Stratofortress bomber. It originated in the USA in 1958 as one of a variety of elaborately teased and lacquered versions of "big hair" that developed from earlier pageboy and bouffant styles. The peak of its popularity was in the 1960s, and it was especially popular in the United States and other Western countries. The beehive remains an enduring symbol of 1960s kitsch. By the late 1960s the beehive became unfashionable, although it probably continued to influence later female hair styles. You can make this as big or as small as you want, so try it out! #66 - Top Favorites (This Month) - Howto & Style

Black Button - Short Film

-YouTube Awards 2007 - Top Six Finalist, Best Short Film -WINNER: Fitzroy Short Film Festival (Melb, Aus) -WINNER: DearCinemaFest Short Film Festival (Int.) and more... Mr Roberts finds himself awoken inexplicably in a white room. A man sits before him at a desk and in between them stands a black button. If Mr Roberts pushes it, he will receive a briefcase filled with millions of dollars. Or he can take the key to the door and leave penniless. The catch? Pushing the button will result in the death of a human being. What would you do? EDIT 1: Some people have observed a similarity in the premise of this film and an revival episode of The Twilight Zone in 1986. Please note (1) We had never seen the episode and only learned of it long after we'd finished the film. (2) The Twilight Zone weren't the first to do it. There was a short story before that, which was in turn based on an old premise called the 'Faustian Bargain', around since the 16th century (deal with the 'devil'). An almost identical premise exists in several cultures. Richard Kelly is even making a film with this premise called 'The Box'. (3) Our film is similar in premise, but different in plot, characters, dialogue, aesthetics, setting, moral meaning, religious undertone, twist etc. Each version, including ours, aims to bring something new to an old idea. Please have the respect to not accuse us of plagiarism. Additionally, we have no particular religious affiliation; this is a fictional work and its ideas are designed to encourage thought and debate, not comment on any particular theology. Our first professional short film. We made it for $200 and shot it on the stage of our old school in Melbourne, Australia. Fortunately, professional actor Robert Grubb agreed to act in it for free after reading the script. This film took nearly a year to put together, working on it in stages and creating the 'white' effect on a home PC. Please note that the younger actor, unlike his father Robert Grubb, has no formal acting training whatsoever. The Making of "Black Button" is now on YouTube. Two of our other shorts have been released on YouTube, 'Campsite' and 'The Window'. Click on our profile if you'd like to see them and subscribe for updates on new films. Thanks!

Anyband 애니밴드 - Talk Play Love & Promise U

AnyBand also known as 애니밴드 is a promotional Korean group formed by cell phone giant Samsung's AnyCall. The band members consist of four famous Korean artists; singer BoA, 동방신기 band member 시아준수 (Xiah Junsu), Epik High band leader/member 타블로 (TABLO) and pianist 진보라 (Jin Bora) In early November the band held a showcase and released a music drama/video entitled AnyBand. It starred all four members whom played the roles as revolutionist. Unlike any of AnyCall's previous music dramas/videos it did not star 이효리 (이효리), who was known to be the main face of AnyCall. 이효리 starred and provided vocals in the previous three Any**** music drama/video series, with her absence in the latest of the Any**** series this sparked rumors that BoA was to take her place as the main face of AnyCall. Not only this, the music drama/video AnyBand was unlike its predecessors, it had no dance routine, two songs featured in the music drama/video and was of a sci-fi genre. Although the lack of similarity between AnyBand and the previous videos, AnyBand still turned out to be a success. Following the showcase and release of the music drama/video a digital single Anyband 애니밴드 (which consisted of 4 tracks including the two songs featured in the promotional video: TPL (Talk, Play, Love) and Promise U). A concert has been scheduled at Central City, Millennium Hall in Seoul on the 27 November.

Human Body : Pushing The Limits - Brain Power. The ending segment on dreams. The drug that allows dreams is known to be a tryptamine derivative, likely DMT or similar endogenous chemicals. Research into DMT has been outlawed do to gov't sanctions. Quote from University of California, Berkeley, http://sulcus.berkeley.edu/mcb/165_00... "The striking similarity of entheogenic experiences to dream experiences tempts us to seek answers as to whether the benefits of dreaming are potentially linked to the benefits of entheogens. The molecular action of visions produced by dreaming is quite possibly very similar to visions produced by entheogenic drugs. Carefully designed research could lend great insight into the mystery of dreaming, the potential therapeutic value of entheogens, and the potential for neurochemical advances." they conclude with "Entheogenic drugs and dreams alike have a special place in the evolution of humankind and its value systems. Profound musical inspirations and scientific discoveries of the past century have even been inspired by them. Our ancestors religious views and values were influenced by their faith in visions communicated by entheogenic drugs and dreams. In an age of environmental destruction and moral erosion, the knowledge afforded by dream and entheogen induced visions could not be more valuable. Let us hope that our culture is fortunate enough to open our minds and build on the mysteries our ancestors have explored for ages." School of Pharmacy, University of California http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/ent... "The visions of dream sleep are suggested to occur through a dream mechanism which implicates tryptamine derivatives as endogenous paychedelics. The hallucinations that occur in some schizophrenic syndromes are also proposed to occur through a similar, though desynchronized, mechanism. These compounds occur in the human pineal gland and are regarded as neurotransmitters or neuroregulators. A protocol for experimental verification is suggested." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimethyl... "Dr. Rick Strassman, while conducting DMT research in the 1990s at the University of New Mexico, advanced the theory that a massive release of DMT from the pineal gland prior to death or near death was the cause of the near death experience (NDE) phenomenon. Several of his test subjects reported NDE-like audio or visual hallucinations. His explanation for this was the possible lack of panic involved in the clinical setting and possible dosage differences between those administered and those encountered in actual NDE cases. Maisa say to Silvio Santos-Cow is your mother, Silvio!-10/26

For who don't know, Maisa is a 6 years old little girl, a teen celebrity on Brazil TV. Specially, on SBT(Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão[Brazilian Television System]) Channel, the channel where she work currently. Silvio Santos, the man who she talk, is the SBT owner. SBT is the second free channel most popular on Brazil. She had the courage to tell him "Cow is your mother, Silvio!". "Cow", in Brazil, is a offense, almost like "Bitch", on USA. Some peoples love her, and some others, hate. But, undeniably, Maisa is a great success on Brazil, and possibly, also with the time, on World. Other thing undeniably, is her similarity with the actress, Shirley Temple. Maisa is a Shirley Temple Brazilian version. I've translated to english, her most new, and possibly, too, with the time, her most funny phrase, "Cow is your mother, Silvio". Try to search on Google Brasil, more about these funny little girl, if you want to know more of her. I know, i've a bad english, but, i think that isn't so hard to understand, right guys? ----------------------------- I give thanks and credits to the Youtube user, "rosiecartwright", for give me the right of use to this video.

Sonic to Klonoa recolor

Finish time: 0:18:43 *whistles* holy crap! This was actually a good one XD I can turn SONIC into Klonoa, reason why I used Sonic is because sometimes they have a little similarity if ya know what i mean (not by appearance, but by attitude) I DO NOT DO REQUESTS Song credits in the end, but to be safe I do not own these songs used nor do I own Klonoa, Klonoa is copyrighted to Namco. Hawker Typhoon in Action

In February 1940, the first N model, now known as the Typhoon, was delivered. Like the Tornado, the Typhoon was soon demonstrating its own problems, including vibrations from the engine causing the wing skinning to peel. The first production Mk IA was delivered in May 1941 with 12 Browning .303 guns, but this was followed quickly with the Mk IB with four Hispano 20 mm cannons. By this time the Spitfire Vs were encountering the superior Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in combat and suffering heavy losses, with the inevitable result that the Typhoon was rushed into squadron service (with Nos. 56 and 609 Squadrons) to counter the new German plane. Sadly, this decision proved to be a disaster, and several Typhoons were lost for mysterious reasons. Once again there was talk of killing the Typhoon. The cause of the tail failures was eventually identified only because one pilot managed to survive and return to tell his story. The problem was found to be caused by fatigue failure of the elevator mass-balance, allowing elevator-flutter to occur which was at its greatest when pulling out of a dive. Diving out of combat was the favourite escape manoeuvre for the Fw 190, which had a distinct speed advantage over the Spitfire. Against the Typhoon this manoeuvre should have proved deadly for the Fw pilots, but flutter problems turned the tables. As a "temporary" measure, rectangular strengthening "fishplates" were riveted around the fuselage/empennage joint, the site of the failures. These fishplates remained a feature on all subsequent Typhoons. Problems with leakage of exhaust fumes into the cockpit and subsequent high carbon monoxide levels also meant Typhoon pilots had to use oxygen for even low level operations. The Sabre engine was also a constant source of problems, notably in colder weather where it was very difficult to start. During late 1942 and early 1943, the Typhoon Squadrons on the South Coast were finally effective in countering the Luftwaffe's "tip and run" low-level nuisance raids, shooting down a score or more fighter-bomber Fw 190s. The first two Messerschmitt Me 210 fighter-bombers to be destroyed over the British Isles fell to the guns of Typhoons in late 1942, and during a daylight raid by the Luftwaffe on London on 20 January 1943, five Fw 190s were destroyed by Typhoons. As soon as the aircraft entered service it was immediately apparent the profile of the Typhoon resembled a Fw190 from some angles, and this similarity caused more than one "friendly fire" incident with Allied anti-aircraft units and other planes. This led to Typhoons being marked up with high visibility black and white stripes under the wings; a precursor of the marking applied to all Allied aircraft on D-Day. The Typhoon would however become much more famous armed with four "60 lb" RP-3 rockets under each wing—the so-called "Rocketphoons." In October 1943, No. 181 Squadron made the first Typhoon rocket strikes. Although the rocket projectiles were inaccurate and took some considerable skill to aim properly and allow for the drop after firing, the sheer firepower of just one Typhoon was equivalent to a destroyer's broadside. The top speed of the Typhoon was reduced by some 15 mph by the non-jettisionable rocket rails. By the end of 1943, 18 rocket-equipped Typhoon squadrons formed the basis of the RAF's Second Tactical Air Force ground attack arm in Europe. Inaccuracy notwithstanding, the rockets (backed by the Typhoon's four 20 mm cannon) proved highly effective against many targets, such as unarmoured "soft-skinned" vehicles, road transport, trains and small sea craft. Although great things were expected against the heavily armoured tanks of the Wehrmacht, the rockets needed to hit the thin-walled engine compartment or the tank's tracks to really have any destructive effect. Analysis of destroyed tanks after the Normandy battle showed a 'hit-rate' for the air-fired rockets of only 4%. Social Butterfly vs. Hafanana

Can you hear what I hear? A mix of Kim Herold's new hit, "Social Butterfly" with a '70s oldie "Hafanana" (cover by Tapani Kansa, in Finnish)... in the end, also a sample of the original version of the song. Personally I don't really care much about this song, but I am annoyed by this issue.... I just want to find out if I am the only one hearing the similarity!:) Please comment!!

Dead Rising: 7 Day Survivor Guide (Part 1)

Hello, and welcome to my 7 Day Survivor guide! I noticed a video similar to this one and originally used it help me out, but it only went to five days. So I decided, why not make another? First off, I'm assuming you have the Megabuster from Zombie Genocide. If not, there are other videos for that and you should really consider unlocking it beforehand. It kills zombies in one hit and survivors/psychos in just a couple. If you haven't even unlocked Infinity Mode yet, you need to finish the main story with the A Ending. Level 50 would also be a good thing. Now the most important aspect of Infinity Mode is that your health is always being depleted. Whether you get hit or not, it goes down constantly. So obviously food items are the only way you're going to survive. To increase the effects of food items, we'll be needing three books. The first is in the Entrance Plaza, Paul is here as well but we skip fighting him for now. Pick up the book, head back through the SR (Security Room) and out through the vents. Otis will be here, an easy kill. All we want is the food, the weapons are pointless when compared to the Megabuster. Take the non-elevator path, through PP (Paradise Plaza) and then hit the mirror shortcut. The second book is here in WP (Wonderland Plaza) and happens to be right in the entrance of the store! Now we're going to the FC (Food Court) to cook the meat from Otis and fight Carlito. Just watch for him to reload and then pop out to kill him. After all that's done, run through the park and to the NP (North Plaza). If you get shot, just try to roll out of the dazed stance Frank goes into. By the way, if you're wondering about the constant knee drops, they prevent you from taking damage from a long fall. Weird, right? Now enter the empty store near Crislip's and you've got the final book! Now items will triple their healing value. A snack usually heals one block, but now heals three, for example. A steak would normally heal six blocks, but now heals 18, giving you full health. Use Google to find the full list if needed, and then just multiply whatever the numbers are by three. These will be my first videos here, so I'm putting this one up first as a test. The rest I'll upload later.
