After averting a food riot and wintering in Kiev, the crew depart down river to the dreaded Dniepr Rapids. Fighting off an attack by the Pechenegs they make the Black Sea safely. Turning East and North they head for the Kerch Strait and Sea of Azov. Rowing up the Don River they rest over at the White Fortress of Sarkel before rowing on to the Khazarian Way. There they enter portage again and port their boats to the Volga. Back on water they make easy going of the journey to Astrakhan - The Venice of the East. www.VikingLegend.com
