I started growing my hair January 2008. I only use Organic Oils... Once I wash, I put oil in my hair while it's wet & let it air dry or before I wash my hair, I drench it in EVOO & other organic oils (Safflower, Vitamin E, Grapeseed, Carrot, Jojoba, Castor, Canola, Shea Butter), cover it with a shower cap while I do my daily chores around the house & wash. My hair is then soft and shiny until it's time to re-wash about a week and 1/2 later.

Painted in the studio from my memories of the Tomoka River, located near Ormond Beach, Florida (roughly geo:lat=29.338189063782863 geo:lon=-81.08699798583984).... one of my favorite locations... just don't get there enough. No paint-related experiments this time, just wanted to paint something in oils and I like this location. This one is painted using Winsor & Newton's "Artisan" water mixable oils, Artisan gloss glaze medium and safflower oil on a stretched 11x14 canvas. I did not like the way the river grasses were going on at first, so, being oils, wiped it off and tried again. I plan to add an egrit in it later when the layers are thoroughly dry. The sound track is a rythm track I made using a Mixman DM2 mixed with nature/birds sounds recorded on prior plein air paintouts. All in a Day's Work at the World Parrot Refuge - Part ONE - The never-ending task of feeding 700 birds, 365 days a year. Here's a summary of the typical food supplies the refuge goes through: We use 200lbs walnuts in shell, 100 lbs of almonds in shell and 60 lbs of peanuts raw in shell every week. Each day we give them different fresh fruits and veggies, but an average day would be - 6 kgs of thawed peas and corn. 8 very large celery , half a box of oranges and 25 lbs of Bananas. All the fresh fruits and veggies are soaked in a solution of Grapefruit Seed Extract to neutralize the pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers. Very expensive stuff but well worth the money. It takes 4 1/2 hours to prepare and dish up and serve the fresh foods every day. It takes approximately 2 hours to do all the seeds and nuts in incoming and special needs. It takes about 3 hours to prepare the trays of seeds and nuts for incoming flights, macaws, amazons, cockatoos and small parrot house. We use approximately 150 lbs of striped sunflower seeds, 100 lbs of safflower seeds, 100 lbs of whole corn, 50 lbs each of oats, barley and wheat, plus we use 75 lbs of budgie mix and 50 lbs of pellets in the mixes. Cleaning in the parrot houses takes 4 people 8 hours every day, plus the fantastic help we get from volunteers. We also have one man working hard 3 days a week to try and keep up with the perching. Garbage sorting , recycling and disposal takes a lot of hours. When the weather improves and the grass and weeds start to grow we have to find a lot more help. Evening feeding starts at 5 pm and goes until 8pm. This is manned by volunteers who spend their time handfeeding the birds in incoming and special needs - and giving treats to everyone else. There is a huge need for volunteers in all of these areas as well as toy making. We are receiving birds constantly and the need for toys is growing. Last year we accepted 110 birds into the sanctuary. In the first 3 months of 2008 we received 26 new birds.
