Gordon Biersch opened their latest restaurant November 10th, at the Annapolis Towne Centre in Parole. We caught up with co-founder Dan Gordon to talk about the brewery's heritage and discover the origin of his trademark garlic fries. Brewmaster Jim Sobczak, formerly of the Rams Head Tavern, gave us a tour of the Annapolis location's beer brewery. Produced by Jeffrey A. Haines.

We got a stereo in the shower. That's so far out. Since 20 years I go play soccer every Friday. Doesn't matter if it's a birthday or wedding day. My grandpa is dead by now, but when he turned 85 he said: "It's my birthday on Friday, are you coming?" I said: "Yeah, I'll be there at four for coffee but at half six I'm gone." He said: "What do you mean you're gone?" I said: "I go play soccer. On Fridays I'm playing soccer, you know that!" I mean, a birthday, from four to six should be enough. I'm very consistent. There is nothing that's more important to me. I think that's consistent: On Fridays, I'm playing soccer.

I used to be a very loveable, blond girl. And I don't want to look like that ever again. When I was 15 I cleared my bank account and instead of going to school I went to Hamburg, where I had my hair dyed black and pink. And two days later I went back home like that. I find it important that you stay true to yourself. That's what makes people likeable. I don't accept hierarchies. Respect needs to be earned. I got one daughter. And one husband. If I do something I do it right. Or not at all.

Consistently Swabian ... that's maybe just the way ... Well, you don't talk about it. You just do it.
