Denver's City Park Used as Radionuclide Dump

Denver's recycled water has a small component coming from the Lowry Landfill Superfund Site at the rate of 13 million gallons per year. A permit allows them to put 158 pollutants and 10 radionuclides into the sewer which is the intake for recycling. The permit must be revoked for the safety of the kids and adults who are unaware of this contamination. This video is a reflection for my personal love of this park and feeling of loss as it slips away.

Clip 1 - OSI - First on-site inspection field exercise

The CTBTO has embarked upon its large scale on-site inspection exercise in September 2008 in Kazakhstan. The so-called Integrated Field Exercise 2008, short IFE 08, will test the on-site inspection regime, which is a key aspect of the global alarm system the organization is building to monitor compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. The scope of the exercise is unprecedented, involving a team of 40 inspectors and 50 tonnes of equipment.

Clip 2 - OSI - First on-site inspection field exercise

The CTBTO has now completed the first phase of the Integrated Field Exercise 2008 and did not find any evidence of a recently conducted nuclear explosion in the fictitious State of Arcania. However, a number of areas of interest requiring further investigation were identified by the inspection team, so the exercise proceeded into the second phase, known as the continuation period.

My brand new Geiger counter

Please enjoy this very crappy video footage of a demonstration of the EcoTest Terra-P Geiger Counter in action. I intend to re-perform this demonstration and upload much higher quality video footage of it later.

Future Benefit: Transmutation

The Global Nuclear Energy Partnership promises to solve the problem of radioactive waste through a process called transmutation. This is how it works.
