Ecce Homo - Behold the Man, Jesus of Nazareth (1977)
Ecce Homo - Behold the Man, Jesus of Nazareth (1979) starring Robert Powell and directed by Franco Zeffirelli who captures this moment in time more dramatically I believe than any of the other , albeit fine performances and productions. The movie scripting refers to Pontius Pilate as a "procurator", a specific post that differs from the one that the Gospels imply that he held - prefect or governor. Historically, Pontius Pilate's title was thought to have been procurator but an inscription on a limestone block - apparently a dedication to Tiberius Caesar Augustus - that was discovered in 1961 in the ruins of an amphitheater called Caesarea Maritima refers to Pilate as "prefect of Judea". Archaeologists believe it to be genuine. In this instance, the Gospel account is supported by archaeology, since the surviving inscription discovered at Caeserae states that Pilate was prefect and the movie should have followed also as it is based on Gospel accounts. |

Man of Galilee, Yeshua Ha Mashiah, Jesus of Nazareth
Song by John Starnes Ecce Homo - Behold the Man Movie: Jesus of Nazareth (1979) starring Robert Powell and directed by Franco Zeffirelli who captures this moment in time more dramatically I believe than any of the other , albeit fine performances and productions. Zeffirelli was born and grew up in Florence, under the auspices of the British expatriate community and was particularly involved with the so-called Scorpioni who inspired his semi-autobiographical 1999 film Tea With Mussolini. During World War II, he fought as a partisan before he met up with the British soldiers of the 1st Scots Guards and became their interpreter. In the post war years, he studied art and architecture at the University of Florence, and worked with directors such as Vittorio De Sica, Roberto Rossellini and Luchino Visconti. In the 1960s, he made his name designing and directing his own plays in London and New York, and soon transferred his ideas to cinema. Zeffirelli has also been a major director of opera productions since the 1950s in Italy, Europe, and the U.S.. Of particular note is his 1964 Royal Opera House production of Tosca with Maria Callas and Tito Gobbi, and several productions for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, including La bohème and Turandot. Also of note is his set design for Madama Butterfly in the fall of 1985 for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In November 2004 he was awarded an honorary knighthood by the United Kingdom. In 1999 he received the Crystal Globe award for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In 2007, disappointed with the manner in which Pope Benedict XVI had been presenting himself to the media, Zeffirelli openly offered his services to the Pontiff as an image consultant. In connection with this matter, he was quoted as saying "I am a Christian down to the depths of my spirit." The movie scripting refers to Pontius Pilate as a "procurator", a specific post that differs from the one that the Gospels imply that he held - prefect or governor. CLUJ-NAPOCA, ROMANIA, TRANSILVANIA
History of Cluj-Napoca The Roman Empire conquered Dacia in AD 101 and 106, during the rule of Trajan, and the Roman settlement Napoca, established thereafter, is first recorded on a milestone discovered in 1758 in the vicinity of the city.[21] Trajan's successor Hadrian granted Napoca the status of municipium as municipium Aelium Hadrianum Napocenses. Later, in the 2nd century AD,[22] the city gained the status of a colonia as Colonia Aurelia Napoca. Napoca became a provincial capital of Dacia Porolissensis and thus the seat of a procurator. |

THE SCANDAL OF "CASA PIA"
REPORTAGE GEORGE KOUVARAS The Casa Pia scandal broke in the autumn of 2002, when a former Casa Pia pupil and boarder alleged in an interview with journalist Felícia Cabrita of having suffered sexual abuse as a boy and teenager in the institution. The principal figures named as being allegedly responsible for the abuse included the TV and radio presenters Carlos Cruz and Herman José, the retired diplomat Jorge Ritto, among other public figures and a former driver at Casa Pia, Carlos Silvino, known by the nickname of 'Bibi'. On December 29, 2004, the Procurator-General (Chief Republic Prosecutor), José Souto Moura, formally accused various personalities of homosexual sexual abuse with minors (paedophilia). These included the archaeologist Francisco Alves, a former Casa Pia doctor Ferreira Diniz, the former Minister for Social Security under the PS government of António Guterres and present parliamentary deputy, Paulo Pedroso. The trials and hearings began on November 25, 2004 with six indicted defendants: Carlos Silvino, Carlos Cruz, Jorge Ritto, Ferreira Diniz, Manuel Abrantes, Hugo Marçal and Gertrudes Nunes. The case, which has become a media circus costing the state several million euros, has been dragging on ever since with claims, counter claims, sensational revelations, dubious evidence given by former pupils and male prostitutes, and public and private hearings. |

New Money for Young Men Part IV 0.5
Felix Antonius Claudius, known to Bible History by his given name Felix, was the Roman procurator of Judea, for a few years in the time of the early Christian church. Like the Roman emperors that he served, including Nero, Felix was a corrupt and brutal man. His appearance in The Bible record takes place in Caesarea, where the apostle Paul was brought before him for trial after his arrest in Jerusalem. Occasionally seated with Felix during the course of the "trial" was Drusilla, the daughter of Herod Agrippa, who had accepted an invitation from Felix to leave her husband, the king of Emesa, to become his adulterous wife. "And after five days the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and a spokesman, one Tertullus. They laid before the governor their case against Paul; and when he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying: "Since through you we enjoy much peace, and since by your provision, most excellent Felix, reforms are introduced on behalf of this nation, in every way and everywhere we accept this with all gratitude. But, to detain you no further, I beg you in your kindness to hear us briefly." "For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, an agitator among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. He even tried to profane the Temple, but we seized him. By examining him yourself you will be able to learn from him about everything of which we accuse him." "The Jews also joined in the charge, affirming that all this was so." "And when the governor had motioned to him to speak, Paul replied: "Realizing that for many years you have been judge over this nation, I cheerfully make my defense. As you may ascertain, it is not more than twelve days since I went up to worship at Jerusalem; and they did not find me disputing with any one or stirring up a crowd, either in the Temple or in the synagogues, or in the city. Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me. But this I admit to you, that according to The Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, believing everything laid down by the law or written in the prophets, having a hope in God which these themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward God and toward men." "Now after some years I came to bring to my nation alms and offerings. As I was doing this, they found me purified in the Temple, without any crowd or tumult. But some Jews from Asia - they ought to be here before you and to make an accusation, if they have anything against me. Or else let these men themselves say what wrongdoing they found when I stood before the council, except this one thing which I cried out while standing among them, 'With respect to the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you this day.'" "But Felix, having a rather accurate knowledge of the Way, put them off, saying, "When Lysias the tribune comes down, I will decide your case." Then he gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but should have some liberty, and that none of his friends should be prevented from attending to his needs." "After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess; and he sent for Paul and heard him speak upon faith in Christ Jesus. And as he argued about justice and self-control and future judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, "Go away for the present; when I have an opportunity I will summon you." At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him." "But when two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus; and desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison." (Acts 24:1-27 RSV) |

Epistle to Diognetus 1/3
The Epistle of Mathetes to Diognetus is probably the earliest example of Christian apologetics, writings defending Christianity from its accusers. The Greek writer and recipient are not otherwise known, but the language and other textual evidence dates the work to the late 2nd century; some assume an even earlier date and count it among the Apostolic Fathers. Author and audience: "Mathetes" is not a proper name; it simply means "a disciple." The writer is a Johannine Christian who does not use the name "Jesus" or the expression the "Christ" but prefers the use of "the Word." A Diognetus was a tutor of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, who admired him for his freedom from superstition and sound educational advice (Meditations 1.6), but he is not likely to be the recipient, or even the assumed recipient, of this apology. More likely is 'the most excellent Diognetus', Claudius Diogenes, who was procurator of Alexandria at the turn of the second/third centuries. Manuscripts: The Epistle survives in two manuscripts. A third, that survived until 1870, was in a 13th century codex that included writings ascribed to Justin Martyr. The other two are probably copied from this. It was at Strasbourg but was burned there during the Franco-Prussian War. Fortunately it had already been printed, the first time in 1592, when it was generally ascribed to Justin Martyr because of the context of its manuscript. In all manuscripts, about two lines of the text are missing in the middle. The 13th century manuscript was obviously damaged in that place and the copies were made only after that damage had already been done. Contents: The Epistle is in twelve chapters. Chapter I.-Occasion of the Epistle. Chapter II.-The Vanity of Idols. Chapter III.-Superstitions of the Jews. Chapter IV.-The Other Observances of the Jews. Chapter V.-The Manners of the Christians. Chapter VI.-The Relation of Christians to the World. Chapter VII.-The Manifestation of Christ. Chapter VIII.-The Miserable State of Men Before the Coming of the Word. Chapter IX.-Why the Son Was Sent So Late. Chapter X.-The Blessings that Will Flow from Faith. Chapter XI.-These Things are Worthy to Be Known and Believed. Chapter XII.-The Importance of Knowledge to True Spiritual Life. The 10th chapter breaks off in mid thought, and so the last two chapters, a kind of peroration that abandons the (fictive ?) epistolary formula, are often considered to be later additions, for characteristically 3rd-century contentions appear in them: "This Word, Who was from the beginning...". Some have ascribed these additions to Hippolytus, based on similarities of thought and style. In the 11th chapter "Mathetes" presents himself as "having been a disciple of Apostles I come forward as a teacher of the Gentiles, ministering worthily to them" placing himself in a class with authoritative figures like John the Presbyter. New Money for Young Men Part IV 2.5
Felix, a Roman procurator of Judea appointed by the emperor Claudius in A.D. 53. He ruled the province in a mean, cruel and profligate manner. His period of office was full of troubles and seditions. St. Paul was brought before Felix in Caesarea. He was remanded to prison, and kept there two years in hopes of extorting money from him. Ac 24:26,27 At the end of that time Porcius Festus [FESTUS] was appointed to supersede Felix, who, on his return to Rome, was accused by the Jews in Caesarea, and would have suffered the penalty due to his atrocities had not his brother Pallas prevailed with the emperor Nero to spare him. This was probably about A.D. 60. The wife of Felix was Drusilla, daughter of Herod Agrippa I., who was his third wife and whom he persuaded to leave her husband and marry him, trying to talk to Tom Cruise & Brad Pitt and ending up like River Phoenix at that sound-stage, blood-thristy. |

Proof of Jesus? Pt 8-Tacitus Pt 2
Annals of Tacitus (The). Said to be a forgery of Poggio Bracciolini, apostolic to eight popes (1381--1459). It is said that Cosmo de Medici agreed to pay him 500 gold sequins (about £160) for his trouble. We are further told that Poggio's MS. is still in the library of Florence, and that it was published in 1460. Johannes de Spire produced the last six books, but the work is still incomplete. In confirmation of this tale it is added "that no writer has quoted from the Annals before the close of the sixteenth century." The title "Annals of Tacitus" was given to Poggio's book by Beatus Rhenanus in 1553. (from:Brewer's Readers Guide (under forgeries)). This passage is not informing his Roman audience about what was commonly said of Jesus. His silence on the topic of the Messiah indicates that if this passage is genuine, that Tacitus did not, nor his audience, believe Jesus to be a Jewish prophet. The section is about the depravity of Nero. This particular piece is not quoted before the 15th Century, and when it was quoted, there was supposed to be only one copy of the 'Annals' in the world, made in the 9th century (more than 700 years after Tacitus' death),however there are some manuscripts that also been dated to the 10th and 11th centurys. It still stands that no one ever quoted any of these writings prior to the 15th Century. If Tacitus was using official Roman records, he would not have refered to Pilate as a Procurator, when he was a Prefect. He would also have been able to give us the name of the man that was put to death by Pilate, where he was put to death and why . This certainly does not prove that Jesus is the Chrestus that was mentioned in the text. If todays Christian wish to admit that it was they that set fire to Rome and were convicted for hating mankind that is their choice. It still is no proof of Jesus. |

islamist authority of russia reppress uk and me
appeal of 4th,july,20o7 to: Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II from: Anna Matskevich; Maxix Belov Dear Madam On 26-th,June,2007-th,my husband handed for british Ambassador in Moscow Mr.Antony Russel Brenton material and documents about authority assasinative blowing of me by yourth islamist's group in Russia,by which state counted to bring up my freedom of speech,to remove for testifications about terrorism, ideological and political articles and convictions. The same day he sent by e-mail to your office some of my articles about islamist's inside west authority occupation. The articles also introduce the case about international islamist's persecution of me. Among articles: "When people crusified Christ"(of 2000 from Germany). On 28-th,June,2007-th my husband sent to your office my texts concerning captured british sailors in Iran ( of 29 March - 5-th,April,2007)and my letter of 10-th of September,2001-st from Hoplland sent to british "The Times" by fax one day before terroristic attack on the USA (of 11-th,Sept.,2001). *Because of hard trauma,I could not send the letter myself* International islamist's net standartly used terrorists for to stiffle global information about their structure - now from you and from new british Prime Minister who could have new look, way and maybe more freedom of action to disclose and to clean up the problem with terrorism, grounded on west authority corruption and cooperation with islamists. Look my letter-condolence to british Ambassador Mr.A.R.Brenton of 10-th,July,2005-th and my "report" of talk with head of british security UK embassy Mr.Rick Williams of 13-th,July,2005-th in biritish consulate. I add to this that by terroristic acts,by islamist's government "charity realiasing" of british hostages on exchange of recognition of information and by FSB theatre in british spies at days of coming of the information, islamist's international net plays with british government as with child in dalls, knocking out knowledge by open violence and obviously consider it lower mind capabilities than their islamist's monolite of archaic primitivism. Previous british government representatives were too blackmailed on contact with me (and right to investigate my information) - by terrorists,by inside authority influence and by FSB interference in internal diplomace of Great Britain. Even situation with captured british nave sailors in Iran (of March-April,2007-th)did'nt release justice from dependance on oil countries: I was not provided by talk in the embassy at my coming there on 4-th,April,2007 (at 12 A.M.) with request to speak with british representative concerning undeground of iranian attitude described in my text of 30-th,March,2007 :"Iran imagines it can enforce historically the most ascetic branch of christian countries - Protestant England - to islam. I repeat my request on investigation of my information through my case;on the interview with british officials in the embassy. I would like to apply for your possible protection for seek political defence and asylum in Great Britain against international islamist's religion-ideological and Russia's government nomenclatura's persecution of me and my husband. Pro-islamist's Russia's authorities maintain islamist's persecution of us firmly create conditions for our elimination, implementing all demands of moslem international comunity sentence for it,put us out law: court, police,Procurator unconsideration;drug's gas influence;total fabrication directive;territorial and communicative isolation;depriving of livelihood by totalitarian state order about job;hired mass suppression, abusement, islamist's training of our convictions and dignity;shuting up of freedom of speech by open repressions. Last case of state assasinative blowing of me by islamist's yourth group declares state order for our final removal for not observing of our human rights - forbiding to police and Procurator offices to activate criminal case,to get testifications,to identify and make search of attackers (who already started appear near our home with threaten);simmulteneously FSB order to police to continue to substitute consideration by fabrications. It shows level of absence of human rights for us in Russia : if we will be killed - authorities will demand not to appoint criminal case. This letter is also appeal to you as to Head of Protestant Church, and maybe last hope on justice. Your sincerely Anna Matskevich; Maxim Belov record after visit of uk embassy- dissident relation:russian guard had order to ignore all my requests butforce to wait counted on fabrication. |

A Tangled Web PT 2
"Jesus Christ, according to the prophecies, which had been spoken about him beforehand, came to the Passion in the 18th year of Tiberius, at which time also we find these things written verbatim in other commentaries of the gentiles: an eclipse of the sun happened *, Bithynia shaken by earthquake, and in the city of Nicaea many buildings collapsed: all of which agree with what occurred in the Passion of the Saviour. Indeed Phlegon, who is an excellent calculator of olympiads, also writes about this, in his 13th book writing thus: "However in the fourth year of the 202nd olympiad, an eclipse of the sun happened, greater and more excellent than any that had happened before it; at the sixth hour, day turned into dark night, so that the stars were seen in the sky, and an earthquake in Bithynia toppled many buildings of the city of Nicaea." These things the aforementioned man (says). (*) November 24, 29 AD The proof however of this matter, that in this year the Saviour suffered, the gospel of John presents, in which it is written that after the 15th year of Tiberius Caesar, the Lord preached for three years. Also Josephus, a native writer of the Jews, attests that around that time on the day of Pentecost, the priests first perceived an earth tremor and certain (loud) sounds. Then, that an unexpected voice suddenly burst out from the innermost part of the Temple saying: "Let us flee from this abode." However the aforementioned man writes that in the same year Pilate the governor secretly in the night set up images of Caesar in the temple, and from this arose the first cause of the rebellion and turmoil of the Jews." (The Chronicle of St. Jerome-380 CE)(*) November 24, 29 AD "Besides these, a few days after that feast, on the one and twentieth day of the month Artemisius, [Jyar,] a certain prodigious and incredible phenomenon appeared: I suppose the account of it would seem to be a fable, were it not related by those that saw it, and were not the events that followed it of so considerable a nature as to deserve such signals; for, before sun-setting, chariots and troops of soldiers in their armor were seen running about among the clouds, and surrounding of cities. Moreover, at that feast which we call Pentecost, as the priests were going by night into the inner [court of the temple,] as their custom was, to perform their sacred ministrations, they said that, in the first place, they felt a quaking, and heard a great noise, and after that they heard a sound as of a great multitude, saying, "Let us remove hence.""(Wars of the Jews 6.5.3) 1. BUT now Pilate, the procurator of Judea, removed the army from Cesarea to Jerusalem, to take their winter quarters there, in order to abolish the Jewish laws. So he introduced Caesar's effigies, which were upon the ensigns, and brought them into the city; whereas our law forbids us the very making of images; on which account the former procurators were wont to make their entry into the city with such ensigns as had not those ornaments. Pilate was the first who brought those images to Jerusalem, and set them up there; which was done without the knowledge of the people, because it was done in the night time; but as soon as they knew it, they came in multitudes to Cesarea, and interceded with Pilate many days that he would remove the images; and when he would not grant their requests, because it would tend to the injury of Caesar, while yet they persevered in their request, on the sixth day he ordered his soldiers to have their weapons privately, while he came and sat upon his judgment-seat, which seat was so prepared in the open place of the city, that it concealed the army that lay ready to oppress them; and when the Jews petitioned him again, he gave a signal to the soldiers to encompass them routed, and threatened that their punishment should be no less than immediate death, unless they would leave off disturbing him, and go their ways home. But they threw themselves upon the ground, and laid their necks bare, and said they would take their death very willingly, rather than the wisdom of their laws should be transgressed; upon which Pilate was deeply affected with their firm resolution to keep their laws inviolable, and presently commanded the images to be carried back from Jerusalem to Cesarea. (Antiquities 18.3.1) ---------------------------------- Tertullian, in that book which he wrote against the Jews, affirms that Christ was born in the 41st year of Augustus, and suffered in the 15th of Tiberius.(SEE-Tertullian-An Answer to the Jews-Chapter 8) |
