LITANY OF THE SAINTS !!!
Summary of Doctrine on the Church We also define that the holy apostolic see, and the Roman pontiff, holds the primacy over the whole world, that the Roman pontiff is the successor of blessed Peter, prince of the apostles, that he is the true vicar of Christ, the head of the whole Church and the father and teacher of all Christians, and that to him was committed in blessed Peter the full power of tending, ruling and governing the whole church, as is contained also in the acts of ecumenical councils and in the sacred canons (COUNCIL OF FLORENCE, 1439). Therefore, faithfully adhering to the tradition received from the beginning of the christian faith, ... we teach and define as a divinely revealed dogma that when the Roman Pontiff speaks ex cathedra, that is, when, in the exercise of his office as shepherd and teacher of all Christians, in virtue of his supreme apostolic authority, he defines a doctrine concerning faith or morals to be held by the whole Church, he possesses, by the divine assistance promised to him in blessed Peter, that infallibility which the divine Redeemer willed his Church to enjoy in defining doctrine concerning faith or morals. Therefore, such definitions of the Roman Pontiff are of themselves, and not by the consent of the Church, irreformable (VATICAN COUNCIL I, 1870). |

United States Await Pope's Arrival
ANCHOR: Pope Benedict left Rome on Tuesday to begin a six-day trip to the United States. During the visit he'll pray at Ground Zero in New York, address the United Nations and try to heal wounds from a sexual abuse scandal. STORY: The pope will meet Bush for the official welcoming ceremony at the White House on Wednesday, when the pontiff turns 81. The trip is the first by Benedict to the United States since being elected pontiff in 2005 following the death of his more charismatic predecessor, John Paul II. A poll released earlier this month by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life shows the German-born pope is viewed favorably by most Americans, but is not as popular as John Paul II was and is not as well recognised. Known as a fierce conservative when he was elected, the pope has surprised people with his gentle manner and stressing of the positive in Catholicism rather than the negative. The pope, who will also mark the third anniversary of his election during the trip, says he hopes the visit leads to a spiritual renewal for America's faithful. His trip is the first by a pontiff since a wave of sex abuse scandals began in 2002, provoking lawsuits resulting in more than $2 billion in settlements. The Vatican says the pope will discuss the scandal during his U.S. visit in an effort to seek reconciliation. The pope will address the United Nations on Friday, and aims to draw attention to the need for greater peace and justice around the world. In New York, Benedict will also make a brief stop at a synagogue to wish the city's Jewish community a happy Passover. He ends the trip on Sunday after visiting Ground Zero, the site of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 that destroyed the World Trade Centre Towers. Then he'll say Mass at Yankee Stadium. |

Rome, Vatican, april 2 2005 at 9:37 p.m.
Big bell on basilica saint Peter in Vatican start ringing at the moment of the death of Pontifex John Paul II. The charismatic pontiff, who led the world's 1 billion Catholics for 26 years, died april 2 2005 at 9:37 p.m. saturday in his private apartment. He was 84. The Holy Father's final hours were marked by the uninterrupted prayer of all those who were assisting him in his pious death and by the choral participation in prayer of the thousands of faithful who for many hours had been gathered in Saint Peter's Square. Archbishop Stanislow Dziwisz presided over a Mass for the pontiff in his final hours. Archbishop Leonardo Sandri asked for a few moments of silence as he announced the death to the thousands of faithful who had congregated in St. Peter's Square. People in the crowd bowed their heads to pray, some of them in tears. Then they burst into applause. Only two of his 263 predecessors served longer than he did -- St. Peter, the first pope, and Pope Pius IX in the 19th century. Despite his reputation as a formidable theologian and fearless defender of Catholic interests, his election as pope October 16, 1978 -- the first-ever Slavic pope and the first non-Italian to occupy the post in 455 years -- came as a surprise. |

Vatican Museums - Raphael's Rooms - Room of Constantine
The room, that was designed to be used for receptions and official ceremonies, was decorated by the school of Raphael on the basis of drawings by the artist, who died prematurely before completion of the work (1520). It takes its name from Constantine (306-337 A.D.), the first Christian emperor to officially recognize the Christian faith, granting freedom of worship. On the walls are painted four episodes of his life which testify to the defeat of paganism and the triumph of the Christian religion: the Vision of the Cross, the Battle of Constantine against Maxentius, the Baptism of Constantine and the Donation of Rome. The decoration of the room is completed by figures of great Popes flanked by allegorical figures of Virtue. The original wooden roof which Leo X (pontiff from 1513 to 1521) had built was replaced under Gregory XIII (pontiff from 1572 to 1585) by the modern ceiling, the decoration of which was entrusted by order of the Pope to Tommaso Laureti who portrayed the Triumph of the Christian religion in the central panel. The work was completed at the end of 1585 under Pope Sixtus V (pontiff from 1585 to 1590). |

Pope Benedict XVI Visits U.S.A
A smiling Pope Benedict XVI arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland outside Washington, April 15, 2008 to cheers from a crowd of invited guests. The pontiff was greeted by Bush, the first lady and their daughter Jenna, each of whom shook his hand. The President drove out to meet the leader of over 1 Billion Catholics. The honor of picking the Pope up at the airport was never before given by the President to a visiting leader In fact, no president has done so at Andrews Air Force Base, the typical landing spot for modern leaders. From the base, the Pope's massive motorcade moved slowly down the wide avenues of the U.S. capital to the Vatican Embassy, where the pope is staying. Crowds of enthusiastic spectators waved U.S. and Vatican flags and screamed as the pontiff rode past. Crowds of over 12,000 lined up the roads leading to the White House on Wednesday, April 16th for the pope's official, pomp-filled arrival ceremony featuring the U.S. and Holy See anthems, a 21-gun salute, and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. The Pope and Pres. Bush made remarks at White House' south lawn before a huge audience of dignitaries and pressmen then proceeded to the Oval Office meeting. Pope Benedict VI brought a message of Christian hope to all Americans and to the United Nations on his visits April 15-20. "I came to the United States as pope for the first time to proclaim this great truth; Jesus Christ is hope for men and women of every language, race, culture and social condition." he said. He has chosen as the theme of his journey three simple but essential words; "Christ Our Hope." Background song - Love Will Keep US Alive by The Eagles |

PSALMS: 33 ORTHODOX CHANT
The Nature of Papal Primacy by Pedro Rodriguez 3. The nature of the papal primacy Chapter 3 of the dogmatic constitution on the Church of Vatican Council I (Pastor aeternus) is the principal document of the Magisterium about the content and nature of the primatial power of the Roman Pontiff. Chapter 4 is a development and defining of one particular characteristic of this primatial power, namely the Pope's supreme teaching authority, i.e. when the Pope speaks ex cathedra he teaches the doctrine of the faith infallibly. The Magisterium of the Roman Pontiff is one of the chief elements of his primatial authority. A. Primacy of jurisdiction The primacy spoken about by Vatican I is a primacy of jurisdiction. The word jurisdiction underlines the binding power of the authority which Christ has conferred on the Pope in the Church. It demands obedience of all the faithful. It is in opposition to a primacy of honor (Primus inter pares) and to a primacy of direction which might be endowed with the power of advising and guiding, but not with the power of commanding. The word, as is obvious, has its roots in judicial language. But what is defined by the Council transcends judicial categories and can be understood more fully in the light of the properties which the Council assigns to the primatial power of the Pope. The Pope's power is i) universal: it extends to the whole Church, i.e. to all the members of the Church (pastors and faithful) as to all the various matters which can arise; ii) ordinary: it is not extraordinary, which would mean that it can be used only in exceptional circumstances; nor is it delegated, that is, it belongs inherently to the office of Pope and is not delegated to him by someone else; iii) supreme: meaning that it is not subordinated to any other authority; iv) full: it takes in all questions which might arise in the life of the Church, and does so from every point of view; v) immediate: it need not be exercised through intermediaries and where necessary can have the most practical applications. B. Bishop of the Catholic Church The authority of the Pope is truly episcopal. This feature is very important because it connects the juridical terminology in which the aforementioned properties are expressed, with the sacramental and ministerial meaning which the term episcop‚ has in the New Testament. The Pope is indeed a bishop, and his power has an episcopal character and a pastoral purpose. It is not concerned with human or political matters but is rather a power for fulfilling the threefold mission of teaching, sanctifying and leading to God the flock of Christ. For this reason Pope Paul VI delighted in calling himself Bishop of the Catholic Church and under this title he signed the various documents of Vatican II. Undoubtedly he is bishop of Rome, and not of Dublin or Cologne, but as bishop of Rome he is also Pope, successor to Peter, and has, over all the Church (over all diocese and all members of the Church), the office which is proper to a bishop. A study of this truly episcopal power is the simplest way of understanding more deeply the nature of papal authority. The apostle Peter, he who was charged by Christ with looking after the flock, is he who has the most vivid awareness that his ministry is to be a mere instrument in the hands of Christ, head of the Church. 'The primacy of Peter in leading and serving the Christian people was going to be a pastoral primacy, a primacy of love. The nature and efficacy of the pastoral function of the apostolic primacy would be based on the undying love of Peter for Jesus. Accordingly it is Peter who encourages the shepherds of the Church to exercise their ministry with their eyes fixed on Christ, so that when the chief shepherd appears you will be given the crown of unfading glory (1 Peter 5:4). The work of bishops consists in making it easy for the faithful, and for all men, to turn, not to the shepherds of the Church, but to the shepherd and guardian of your souls (Christ) (1 Peter 2:25). Christ is the Shepherd; Christ is the Bishop. This is Peter's message because when jesus promised him the primacy Peter heard him speak of my Church, not your Church. All bishops, with Peter at their head, are vicars, that is, they take the place of Christ on earth. To enable them to fulfill their mission of service he conferred on them the necessary power. |

NWO GLOBAL STATE ORWELL'S 1984 IS HERE !!!
The Papacy and the Primacy of Peter by Pedro Rodriguez The Church's teaching about the authority and ministry of the Pope within the Church places, also by the express will of Christ, that authority and ministry at the very center of her hierarchical structure. The universal authority of the Roman Pontiff, witnessed to throughout the history of Christianity and proposed as a dogma of faith by the Council of Florence in 1439,[19] was given a detailed dogmatic explanation by Vatican Council I in 1870 in its dogmatic constitution on the Church of Christ Pastor aeternus. This document, in turn, was taken up and confirmed by Vatican Council II in 1964. It is interesting to note that, before describing the content of this power and authority, Vatican I wished to underline its purpose and meaning in the Church according to the will of Christ. This authority exists so that 'the episcopate might be one and undivided and that the whole multitude of believers might be preserved in unity of faith and communion by means of a well-organized priesthood.'In order that the episcopate itself might be one and undivided he (Christ) put Peter at the head of the other apostles, and in him set up a lasting and visible source and foundation of the unity both of faith and communion. Within this basic framework the Church has given her teaching on the primatial authority of the Roman Pontiff in three well defined points: 1. the institution of the primacy in the person of Peter the apostle, 2. the perpetuity of the primacy through the principle of succession, 3. the nature of this primatial power. We will now study each of these three points in turn. 1. Institution of the primacy in the person of the apostle Peter. It is a matter of faith that the blessed apostle Peter 'was constituted by Christ the Lord as the prince of all the apostles and the visible head of the whole Church militant' and 'that he received immediately and directly from Jesus Christ our Lord not only a primacy of honor but a true and proper primacy of jurisdiction.' The Church affirms that this is witnessed to by 'the testimony of the gospel' and is the 'very clear teaching of the Holy Scriptures. The scriptural texts brought forward by the Council are the two following very well-known passages: a) this first is known as the 'text of the promise': Blessed are you Simon, son of Jonah, because it was not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father who is in heaven. And now I say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven_ (Matthew 16:16-18); b) the second is known as the 'fulfillment text': Feed my lambs, feed my sheep (John 21:15ff). An analysis of other numerous texts of the New Testament would show what precisely was the will of Christ regarding the humble fisherman from Galilee, how Peter afterwards exercised his primacy, and how conscious the other apostles and the first Christians were that Simon was at the head of the mission which Christ had entrusted to them all. The latest archeological findings indicate that St. Peter's Church in Rome rises over the site of his tomb, as Pius XII announced at the close of the Holy Year of 1950. In the catacombs many wall writings have been found which link the names of St. Peter and St. Paul, showing that popular devotion to the two great Apostles began in very early times. Paintings of later date commonly depict Peter as a short, energetic man with curly hair and beard; in art his traditional emblems are a boat, keys, and a cock. |
