Aspendos was an ancient city in Pamphylia, Asia Minor, located about 40 km east of Antalya, on the Eurymedon River (now the Kopru River). The city was founded around 1000 B.C. and by the 5th century B.C it had become the most important city in Pamphylia. At that time the Eurymedon River was navigable as far as Aspendus, and the city derived great wealth from a trade in salt, oil, and wool. In 333 B.C. Aspendus paid Alexander the Great a levy to avoid being garrisoned, but it ignored its agreements with him and later was occupied. In 190 B.C. the city surrendered to the Romans, who later pillaged it of its artistic treasures. Toward the end of the Roman period the city began a decline that continued throughout Byzantine times. Aspendos is known for having the best-preserved theatre of antiquity. With diameter of 96 meters (315 ft), the theatre provided seating for 7,000. The theater was built in 155 by the Greek architect Zenon, a native of the city, during the rule of Marcus Aurelius. It was periodically repaired by the Seljuks who used it as a caravanserai. A beautiful Seljuk bridge still spans the nearby river. Nearby stand the remains of a basilica, agora, nymphaeum and 15 kilometers of Roman aqueduct.

Perga, now commonly spelled "Perge" and pronounced "per-geh", was the capital of the then Pamphylia region, which is in modern day Antalya province on the southwestern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Today it is a large site of ancient ruins 15 km east of Antalya in the coastal plain. Located there is an acropolis dating back to the Bronze Age. Perga is today an archaeological site and a major tourist attraction. Its ruins include a theatre, a palæstra, a temple of Artemis and two churches. The very famous temple of Artemis was located outside the town. Tour guides tell the story that Perga is the birthplace of Beer, allegedly discovered by accident; but recent finds of Pharaonic beer predate the city by far.

Both record a meeting between Paul and the Apostles Peter and James in Jerusalem. Both record the verdict of the meeting. Both record the members of the Jerusalem church sent with Paul to Antioch. Both record the split between Paul and Barnabas... but WHY are the accounts different? 1.Peter makes it clear that HE is the Apostle to the gentiles.. Act 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by MY mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. Paul claims that AT THIS SAME MEETING the apostles declared HIM the apostle to the gentiles... and specifically claims that they agreed that Peter was given apostleship ONLY to the "circumcised" Gal 2:7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as [the gospel] of the circumcision [was] unto Peter; Gal 2:8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) Gal 2:9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that WE [should go] unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. 2. The apostles gave a list of FOUR initial commandments that the newly converted gentiles should follow... Act 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: Act 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and [from] fornication, and [from] things strangled, and [from] blood. Paul claims they only gave ONE... Gal 2:10 ONLY [they would] that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. 3. The Apostles did not trust Paul to deliver their verdict so they sent other people with them... Act 15:27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell [you] the same things by mouth. 4. Luke says that all four men, Paul, Barnabas, Silas, and Judas came to Antioch TOGETHER, (No mention of Peter), and that Silas and Judas were given their leave IN PEACE Act 15:30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle: Act 15:33 And after they had tarried [there] a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. Paul asserts that they traveled separately, that Peter came to Antioch, and that there was a non peaceful exchange between Paul, Peter and the other Jews... Gal 2:11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. Gal 2:12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. 5. Luke writes that Paul and Barnabas part ways because Paul refused to allow John surnamed Mark to accompany them. Act 15:37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. Act 15:38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work. Act 15:39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus; Paul asserts that Barnabas left because of the altercation he supposedly had with Peter, (whom Luke NEVER documented as even being there), and dishonesty of the Jews sent by James Gal 2:13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

Termessos was a Pisidian city built at an altitude of more than 1000 meters at the south-west side of the mountain Solymos (modern day Güllük Dağı) in the Taurus Mountains. It lies 30km to the north-west of Antalya. It was founded on a natural platform on top of Güllük Dağı, soaring to a height of 1,665 metres from among the surrounding travertine mountains of Antalya, which average only 200 metres above sea level. Termesos is one of the best preserved of the ancient cities of Turkey. It constitutes an unusual synthesis of a large number of rare plants and animal species. Concealed by a multitude of wild plants and bounded by dense pine forests, the site, with its peaceful and untouched appearance, has a more distinct and impressive atmosphere than other ancient cities. Because of its natural and historical riches, the city has been included in a National Park bearing its name. From the main road, a steep road leads up to the city. From this road one can see the famous Yenice pass, through which wound an ancient road that the Termessians called "King Street" as well as Hellenistic period fortification walls, cisterns and many other remains. Quite spectacular is the amphitheatre commanding a view out over the Pamphylian plain. This building is no doubt the most eyecatching in all the Termessos plain. It displays most clearly the features of the Roman theatre, which preserved the Hellenistic period theatre plan. To the south, west and north of the city, mostly within the city walls, there are large cemeteries containing rock-cut tombs. Termessos, after a gradual decline, was finally abandoned in the 5th century A.D. Some of the remains found there are the walls, the Hadrian's triumphal arch, the cisterns, the theater, the gymnasium, the agora, the odeon and the heroon. Among the tombs which are scattered far and wide can be seen those of Alcates, Agatemeros and the Lion decorated sarcophagi, which are extraordinary. No excavations have as yet been undertaken at Termessos.
