Introduction by Olga Letykai Csonka of The State Chukchi-Eskimo Group "Ergyron" ("Sunrise" in the Chukchi language). It was created in 1968 as a professional dance and song Chukchi-Eskimo group. In 1974 it acquired a status of a state ensemble. In August 2000, it was recognized as the most precious cultural heritage object of the peoples inhabiting he Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. Ergyron is the only professional dancing and singing group in the Okrug. It is main keeper of national vocal, choreography and applied arts of not only Chukchi and Eskimo people, but also of other minorities peoples of the Far North-West of Russia: Koryaks and Chuvans, Lamuts and Evens, Aleutians and Evenks. Their traditions are reflected in Ergyron's concert performances such as "Vylgykoramnat Rite", "Whale Celebration", "Awakening", in music concerts and albums of traditional Chukchi-Eskimo songs, as well as in various theater performances. The ensemble is doing its best to preserve and multiply cultural heritage of the Chukotka population in folk plays, vocal and choreographic performances, in national costumes and articles of decorative and applied arts and crafts. The ensemble's repertoire includes not just folk songs, dances and miniatures such as "Seagull Flying Against Wind", "Gathering Eggs on the Rocks", "Deer Slaughter", "Walrus Hunt", but also a ballet "Raven Legend", an opera "A Girl and the Death", and a musical "Fairytale about Good and Evil", based on Chukchi and Eskimo legends and tales. The ensemble's repertoire has more than 70 works of national vocal and choreographic art and many works by Russian authors. Ergyron is associated with the names of many notable artists, musicians, directors, poets and writers of the Chukotka region. Among them are Antonina Kymytval, Galina Tagrina, Grigory Pananto, Jacov Tagjek, Nikolai Mentser, Sergei Zakatyura; Honoured artists of the Russian Federation Nikolai Tatato, Alexander Tevlyalkot, Vassily Kevkei; Honoured workers of art Ekaterina Rultyneut and Georgy Kovtun. The ensemble is a Lenin Komsomol Prize Laureate. It won awards of the All-Russia Dance and Song Ensembles Festival, of World Youth and Student Festivals, of the "Voice of Asia" International Song Contest, of International Folk Music Festivals in Montere and Montignak (France), and of various folk music festivals of peoples of the North. Ergyron has been on tours in the USA, Belgium, France, Poland, India, Canada, Southern Korea, Singapore, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, neighboring countries of Russia and other countries of the world. In November 2003, the ensemble celebrated its 35th anniversary. New concert programs was presented to audience, first in Anadyr and then in other parts of the region. Whaling is the hunting of whales and dates back to at least 6,000 BC. Whaling and other threats have led to at least five of the 13 great whales being listed as endangered. Greenland Inuit whalers kill around 175 whales per year, making them the third largest hunt in the world after Norway and Japan, though their take is only about one quarter of either Japan's or Norway's, which take 600 or more whales each year. Russians in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug in the Russian Far East are permitted under IWC regulation to take up to 140 Gray Whales from the North-East Pacific population each year. Whales are killed at sea often using explosive harpoons, [29] which puncture the skin of a whale and then explode inside its body. Anti-whaling groups say this method of killing is cruel, particularly if carried out by inexperienced gunners, because a whale can take several minutes or even hours to die. In March 2003, Whale watch, an umbrella group of 140 conservation and animal welfare groups from 55 countries published a report, Troubled Waters, whose main conclusion was that whales cannot be guaranteed to be killed humanely and that all whaling should be stopped. They quoted figures that said 20% of Norwegian and 60% of Japanese-killed whales failed to die as soon as they had been harpooned. The solar eclipse of August 1, 2008 was a total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.039 that was visible from a narrow corridor through northern Canada (Nunavut), Greenland, central Russia, eastern Kazakhstan, western Mongolia and China. It belonged to the so-called midnight sun eclipses, as it was visible from regions experiencing midnight sun. In Siberia, the total eclipse zone passed through populated places, including the "capital of Siberia" Novosibirsk, and the cities of Nizhnevartovsk, Barnaul and Biysk. În cadrul Organizaţiei Cultural -- Artistice, asociaţiei „Stol"şi Federaţiei Românilor din Serbia sa ţinut al doilea festival de cântece si jocuri româneşti la Buciea pe data de 9. august anul 2007. La festival a fost oaspeţii, şase organizaţi cultural artistice: Tanda, Bukovo, Cobişniţa, Grebenaţ, Slatina în preună cu gazdele din Buciea.
