http://live.pirillo.com - I received an email the other day from someone wondering why documents they scan into their computer rearranges the text and doesn't retain formatting. Well user-whose-name-I-can't-pronounce, what you're asking about deals with OCR.

Here is a remix I did of the song "Home" from the Original Cast Recording of "The Wiz." It is sung by Stephanie Mills. The tempo has been increased and it sounds more upbeat. As for the photos, I found a few of Stephanie as Dorothy, but as I was not intending to do a music video or slideshow, they're just to let you know who the person who was singing looked like. I had to make it a video, because YouTube will not let you upload mp3s.

The centerpiece of the OCReMix Panel seen at Otakon and MAGFest is a PowerPoint display explaining the Overclocked ReMix community in full. I thought I'd take the images in that presentation, along with the accompanying audio heard on the last VGDJ podcast, and create a video primer... but it really was just an excuse to play around with Sony's Vegas software one more time, because I could use the practice, and it's just too much fun. Call me a purist; I really love the Original Cast Recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. And while it's great to see its legacy continue, I'm continually disappointed in some way by just about all of the remakes, tributes, etc. The closest to the OCR has been the 1973 movie. But even that is lacking. I was jazzed to learn that it was remade in 2000. Seeing the opening credits had me more thrilled. But my joy quickly turned to angst the moment 'Judas' opened his mouth to sing. So I got this crazy idea to combine the audio of the Original Cast Recording with the video of 2000 version. Trying to make things sync has been a challenge to say the least--and I know its not perfect; it's still a work in progress--but to me at least its for now somewhat tolerable to watch. Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Use SimpleIndex to convert scanned images to text (OCR) and extract keyword index values from the text using pattern matching and use it to rename files and export to a database.

This is a preview about the capabilities of the second core of Nanodesktop Blind Assistant. The software uses an OCR to read a text through GoCam device and it repeats the words that it recognizes, using its software synthetizer. Blind Assistant runs on simple devices as Sony PSP (TM) and it's free. It is also capable to recognize the name of the people that are in a room in real time, and it is able to recognize in which room of his home the blind is. This software attempts to help the people that are visually impaired. At this moment, the second core hasn't been released yet, but Visilab Research will release it very soon.
