Flowers blooming in Namaqualand

We did a trip to see the Namaqualand Flowers. We traveled from Simon's Town past Cape Town all the way to BitterFontein. If it was not for the people and the flowers it would have been a bitter place. We took a drive along dirt roads to Lambertsbay and then to VanRynsDorp. In South Africa this area is also called Namakwaland

As spring approaches and temperatures rise, more and more Namaqualand species come into bloom, spreading their carpets of colour over the countryside.

Despite the chilly wind, millions of tiny flowers open their faces to the sun and cover the ground in white as far as the eye can see.

Ein Vorfilm zu dem 60 minütigen Film "Die Lust am Laufen". Friends For Life und tom-media.com, sowie presscam24.de haben am 2. Juni 2008 im Cinemaxx Kino in Braunschweig, ihre erste Film Premiere, mit dem Film "Die Lust am Laufen". Abahlobo bedeutet: Freundschaft! Zum Film: Der Verein FFL und die Macher Tom Fischer und Joachim Thies haben in einem Film ihre Benefiz-Arbeit dokumentiert, in welchem ein deutsch-südafrikanisches Projekt gezeigt wird. Mit den gesammelten Spenden wird die Arbeit vor Ort erleichtert, den Kindern und den an Aids erkrankten Menschen geholfen. Ein beispielhaftes Projekt, indem farbige Südafrikaner zum ersten Mal erleben, dass „weiße" ihre Freunde sein können und ihnen mit Respekt und Achtung begegnen. Erstmalig für diese Läufer war es auch, ihre Heimat aus Südafrika je verlassen zu haben, erstrecht ihre Townships, um zusammen mit deutschen Läufern (Friends For Life e.V.) in Deutschland 600 Km vom Brocken (Harz) bis nach Sylt zu laufen. Die Tour war im Juni 2007. Ein Film, der nicht geplant war und teilweise auf chaotische Weise entstand und doch als gelungen betrachtet werden kann...
