Amoeba gobbles algae cells in Mono Lake

Sample taken from Mono Lake, California. Viewed with a Swift FM-31 Field Microscope and Nikon Coolpix 885 at 400X. Mono Lake is a soda lake [sometimes called an "alkali lake"] with a high salt content and a high pH. Such water is toxic to humans and most animals, yet a large population of microorganisms lives in Mono Lake. The algal cells are similar to Chlorella and coated the bottom of the shallows. Numbers of these Amoebae were found, busily munching the algal cells.

Grand Prize Winner of the EIPBN Conference (http://www.eipbn.org) Micrograph Contest in 2007. The video, by Daniel Witte of Stanford University, is through an optical microscope at a magnification of 200X and is of a silicon wafer is etched in KOH, with the assistance of a laser. The beam locally heats the silicon, increasing the etch rate greatly. The "fireworks" are small pieces of silicon breaking free and dissolving in the KOH solution. Dark-field illumination brings out the edge features. Other micrograph winners available at: http://www.zyvexlabs.com/EIPBNuG/uGraph.html

Tag Heuer Movement

http://vsa-watches.blogspot.com/ TAG Heuer's story In 1860, the young Edouard Heuer - just 20 years old - founded a watchmaking shop at Saint Imier in the Swiss Jura under the name of "Edouard Heuer, Watchmaker". The company changed its name several times before finally settling on TAG Heuer in 1985. TAG Heuer has left its mark on the history of Swiss watchmaking, starting with the 1887 oscillating pinion up to the 2007 Link Calibre S. Over 145 years of watchmaking know-how and technical innovation has made it today's ultimate reference in avant-garde sports watches. 1887: Patent for the renowned "oscillating pinion". 1911: TAG Heuer develops its famous "Time of Trip", the first dashboard chronograph designed for cars and aircraft. 1916: Patented in 1916 and used during the Antwerp, Paris and Amsterdam Olympic Games, the Micrograph was the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second. 1920: Heuer is timekeeper for the Antwerp Olympic Games, followed by Paris in 1924 and Amsterdam in 1928. 1933: launch of Autavia, the first dashboard stopwatch for racing cars and planes, often combined with the Hervue 8-day watch. 1950: launch of the Mareograph, featuring a tide indicator and chronograph functions. 1962: the astronaut John Glenn sets off on the first American manned spaceflight with a Heuer stopwatch on his wrist. 1964: launch of the Carrera series. 1966: TAG Heuer patents the Microtimer, first miniaturised electronic timer accurate to 1/1000th of a second. 1969: presentation of the Chronomatic Calibre 11, one of two first movements for automatic chronographs. From axons to tracts: A journey through the brain's wiring

Please email me if you would like to use this video. Note: Send email to my gmail account (below). lconcha __ at ___ gmail.com http://lconcha.googlepages.com/ The complex circuitry interconnecting different areas in the brain, known collectively as white matter, is composed of millions of axons organized into fascicles and bundles. Upon macroscopic examination of sections of the brain, it is difficult to discern the orientation of the fibers. The same is true for conventional imaging modalities. However, recent advancements in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) make such task possible in a live subject. By sensitizing an otherwise typical MRI sequence to the diffusion of water molecules it is possible to measure their diffusion coefficient in a given direction1. Normally, the axonal membrane and myelin sheaths pose barriers to the movement of water molecules and, thus, they diffuse preferentially along the axon2. Therefore, the direction of white matter bundles can be elucidated by determining the principal diffusivity of water. The three-dimensional representation of the diffusion coefficient can be given by a tensor and its mathematical decomposition provides the direction of the tracts3; this MRI technique is known as diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). By connecting the information acquired with DTI, three-dimensional depictions of white matter fascicles are obtained4. The virtual dissection of white matter bundles is rapidly becoming a valuable tool in clinical research. Our journey begins with a transverse section of tightly packed axons as seen through light microscopy. Although represented as a two-dimensional "slice", we see that these axons in fact resemble tubes. A simulation of water molecules diffusing randomly inside the axons demonstrates how the membranes and myelin hinder their movement across them and shows the preferred diffusion direction --along the axons. The tracts depicted through DTI slowly blend in and we ride along with them. As we zoom out even more, we realize that it is a portion of the corpus callosum connecting the two sides of the brain we were traveling on and the great difference in relative scale of the individual axons becomes evident. The surface of the brain is then shown, as well as the rest of the white matter bundles--a big, apparently chaotic tangle of wires. Finally, the skin covers the brain. With the exception of the simulated water molecules, all the data presented in the animation is obtained through microscopy and MRI. Computer algorithms for the extraction of the cerebral structures and a custom-built graphics engine make our journey through the brain's anatomy possible in a living person. Evolution Debunked

The great debate is over.. evil-lie-tion is debunked What would constitute objective proof of God? Well, consider the following self-evident and universally recognized truth: Concept and design necessitate an intelligent designer. The presence of intelligent design proves the existence of an intelligent designer. It's simply cause and effect. In our search for proof of God's existence, we could examine the various claims of supernatural occurrences, determine whether or not these are legitimate experiences, and build a case for the existence of the supernatural, which would be a step towards identifying a supernatural Creator God. Or we can just apply what we already know and search for signs of intelligent design within creation itself. We know that design necessitates a designer. In fact, in accordance with this fundamental axiom, design detection methodology is a prerequisite in many fields of human endeavor, including archaeology, anthropology, forensics, criminal jurisprudence, copyright law, patent law, reverse engineering, crypto analysis, random number generation, and SETI. And how do we recognize intelligent design? In general, we find "specified complexity" to be a reliable indicator of the presence of intelligent design. Chance can explain complexity alone but not specification -- a random sequence of letters is complex but not specified (it's meaningless). A Shakespearean sonnet is both complex and specified (it's meaningful). We can't have a Shakespearean sonnet without Shakespeare. (William A. Dembski, The Design Inference: Eliminating Chance through Small Probabilities, 1998.) Proof of God - Nature So where's the proof of God's existence? In accordance with our familiar axiom and in light of the tremendous advances we've made in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and information theory, the proof of God is all around us! Through the microscope, we observe the E. coli bacterial flagellum. The bacterial flagellum is what propels E. coli bacteria through its microscopic world. It consists of about 40 individual protein parts including a stator, rotor, drive-shaft, U-joint, and propeller. It's a microscopic outboard motor! The individual parts come into focus when magnified 50,000 times (using electron micrographs). And even though these microscopic outboard motors run at an incredible 100,000 rpm, they can stop on a microscopic dime. It takes only a quarter turn for them to stop, shift directions and start spinning 100,000 rpm in the opposite direction! The flagellar motor has two gears (forward and reverse), is water-cooled, and is hardwired into a signal transduction (sensory mechanism) so that it receives feedback from its environment. ("Unlocking the Mystery of Life," video documentary by Illustra Media, 2002.) When we apply the general principles of detecting specified complexity to biologic systems (living creatures), we find it reasonable to infer the presence intelligent design. Take, for example, the bacterial flagellum's stator, rotor, drive-shaft, U-joint, and propeller. It is not convenient that we've given these parts these names - that's truly their function. If you were to find a stator, rotor, drive-shaft, U-joint, or propeller in any vehicle, machine, toy or model, you would recognize them as the product of an intelligent source. No one would expect an outboard motor -- much less one as incredible as the flagellar motor -- to be the product of a chance assemblage of parts. Motors are the product of intelligent design. Furthermore, the E. coli bacterial flagellum simply could not have evolved gradually over time. The bacterial flagellum is an "irreducibly complex" system. An irreducibly complex system is one composed of multiple parts, all of which are necessary for the system to function. If you remove any one part, the entire system will fail to function. Every individual part is integral. There is absolutely no naturalistic, gradual, evolutionary explanation for the bacterial flagellum. (Michael Behe, Darwin's Black Box, 1996.) The bacterial flagellum (not to mention the irreducibly complex molecular machines responsible for the flagellum's assembly) is just one example of the specified complexity that pervades the microscopic biological world. Molecular biologist Michael Denton wrote, "Although the tiniest bacterial cells are incredibly small, weighing less than 10-12 grams, each is in effect a veritable micro-miniaturized factory containing thousands of exquisitely designed pieces of intricate molecular machinery, made up altogether of one hundred thousand million atoms, far more complicated than any machinery built by man and absolutely without parallel in the non-living world." (Michael Denton, Evolution: A Theory in Crisis, 1986, p. 250

Tyrants and Control of the Mind

Seattle Creation Conference August 23-25 2007 http://conference.nwcreation.net/index.html The fourth annual Seattle Creation Conference was a three day event dedicated to glorifying God through the scientific study of His creation, and refuting the false claims of evolutionism. The presentation is a hard-hitting look at the War of Worldviews facing Christians today, and examines the factors that have contributed to the secularization of US schools. In 1 Peter 3:15 we are instructed to "Always be prepared to give an answer," and yet most Christian are unable to defend their faith through logic, reason, and empirical evidence. Using recent surveys and events to demonstrate the effects of evolutionism on society, this message will inspire those who attend toward scholarly pursuits in creation apologetics. Also contained within this presentation are numerous illustrations of beauty and wonder made evident through the electron microscope that offer a testimony to the glory of God, but which hasn't been seen until modern times. With evolutionary indoctrination reaching epidemic proportions, these previously unseen treasures provide valuable tools for creation evangelism. Topics Include: 1. The Creation 2. Electron Micrographs - Evidence of Design 3. Discrimination of Creationists in Public Schools 4. War of the World Views 5. Percentages of Scientists that Believe in God 6. The National Academy of Sciences 7. The Secularization of US Schools and its Impact 8. The Decline of Christian Scholarly Pursuit 9. The Bible and Education

The Bible and Education Recently I [Ken Ham] read an article in Current Comments, by Gerald Hoiton, Professor of Physics and Professor of History of Science at Harvard University. In this article. Professor Holton used the term "anti-science" as an attack on creationists. He lumped creationists in with those who study UFO's, paranormal phenomenology, New Agers, etc. In the rest of the article, creationists and anti-evolutionists feature prominently as an obvious danger to society. Professor Holton offers practical ways to overcome this situation. He is advocating taking children at an early age and totally indoctrinating them in what he calls, "conventional science" (which is nothing more than atheistic evolutionary philosophy), and making sure that those who educate them have passed through the same indoctrination process. This is nothing less than absolute mind control. - http://www.icr.org/article/730

finding forgiveness

this is real. to all those who work at drug companies that manufacture hiv medications, it is your responsibility to know whether or not hiv medications are appropriate treatment before allowing people to use them. it is your responsibility to base your research on verifiable science determining that hiv is the cause of AIDS. and reproducing that evidence without failure. it has come to my attention that the micrographs of hiv are fraudulent. it is your responsibility to know this. you have failed to provide that information. it has also come to my attention that the leading cause of death among those diagnosed with AIDS is organ failure due to toxic hiv medications and yet the drugs are still manufactured and prescribed. please tell me how i can forgive you all for continuing without regard for human life in light of all this information. how is it possible that you can continue to cause so much pain and suffering to so many? may God have mercy on your souls. gregory
