A solution consisting of Glucose and Methylene Blue in an alkaline environment is made. As Glucose is a reducing sugar, it reduces the Methylene blue to a colorless compound. As the bottle is shaken, Oxygen is introduced, and this oxidises the color of the Methylene Blue, back to blue.

Methylene blue(C16H18N3ClS) and dextrose (C6H12O6) in a NaOH solution When the bottle is shaken, energy is added to the system causing the oxygen to oxidize (lose electrons) the methylene blue causing the solution to become a deep blue color. However, when motion ceases, dextrose reduces (adds electrons) methylene, causing the solution to become clear. When the oxygen is totally consumed after about 10-12 cycles, the reaction ceases to initiate.

This experiment proves the outstanding photocatalytic activity of our product: fabric coated nano TiO2. Transcript: This experiment prove the high photocatalytic activity of our product: nano crystalline titanium dioxide coated onto fabric. In the experiment, we use a piece of the fabric coated with nano titanium dioxide , methylene blue solution, pH indicator paper , lemon, and distilled water. First, put the piece of fabric coated with nano titanium dioxide into the flask. Pour some distilled water in it Then, soak and stir the flask, so that the fabric is totally wet. Decant water into the petridish Put a piece of pH indicator paper into the water. We can see that its color is not changed. Squeeze lemon juice into the petridish. Color of the indicator changes to orange as a result of acid in lemon juice. This shows that the fabric coated with titanium dioxide is chemically neutral. Now is main stage of the experiment Pour methylene blue on to the fabric Stir the solution so that the reaction occur quickly Decant treated solution into the petridish We can see that obtained solution is totally transparent. This means that methylene blue is degraded quickly and completely. Now lets repeat the procedure. This time, once again, methylene blue is totally decompounded Now, the same procedure is taken for the third time. Methylene blue is still completely degraded Note that the entire experiment is taken place under indoor light. The result shows that our product has significantly high photocatalytic activity. Further experiment on treating virus and harmful compound has also been taken. This is not a how to video, but I have tried to show the capabilities of this paint grinder in different situations: Old dry paint and new bubbly paint. I prefer to use the 38 grit discs. The 24 grit disc was too choppy for me, and I thought that the 48 grit disc didn't cut the paint quick enough -- though I only have one 48 grit disc, so I didn't really give it a long enough test. If you are planning to do a large area, make sure you have enough discs to get through at least one day. I put stripper (old fashioned methylene chloride) on the disc overnight, which probably damages the surface, but they still work effectively. Scraping, powerwashing, etc did not clean the discs well enough for me. In tight spaces, such as the railing in the video, I tend to sand with the front edge of the machine. I feel like I have better control if I can see the progress. In larger areas, such as the deck, I use the machine as designed and cut with the either the left or right edge of the machine. Check if the paint is leaded before renting or purchasing this machine. It makes a horrible mess and launches a dust cloud in the immediate area. I try to put a drop cloth under the immediate area, wear a dust mask, goggles (not just glasses) and clothes that I do not wear into the house. Other notes: -I have used the discs to remove paint on cement, but the discs quickly wore down so I would not recommend this. -Keep the grinder moving all the time; otherwise, it will dig into the wood if left in one spot too long. -Why someone painted redwood siding is beyond me.
