Now that high-definition TVs are really coming down in price, competition among electronics retailers is heating up. Stores no longer enjoy the huge margins they did back in the days of $50,000 plasma screens. Big TVs are not sources of big profits. Making up some of the difference is the art of "packing the deal." In short, this means adding high-profit extras on to the core purchase. It can mean extended warranties, or home installation, or service calls. Or it can mean expensive accessories such as cables. In this report, Erica Johnson takes a close look at the HDMI cable. This is the all-in-one cord that carries both sound and video into your HDTV, and you'll need one to get the best picture from your new setup. The most expensive model we found in-store was a Monster cable costing upwards of $250. We found a generic one online for just $12, including shipping. The test? http://live.pirillo.com - I came across an article the other day on Wired, titled "Microsoft: Don't Cut Off the Long Tail". In the article, Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten said that Microsoft will soon begin to delete some Xbox Live Arcade games from the service.

I wanted to do a video that contrasted the market place at two distinct times of day . . . one video segment done before the stores and shopping kiosks are open . . . and one segment later in the day when everything is open for business . . . hope you like the video :) The music is "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by the amazing Eva Cassidy. The world lost this beautiful singer when she died WAYYY before her time at the age of 33 from cancer in 1996. (It's why I truly believe that you have to focus on each day of your life . . . you never know when your "personal time clock" will stop ticking.) The other sad thing is that Eva, during her life, was almost totally unknown outside her home area of Washington D.C. and became famous only after her death. The British newspaper "The Guardian" later went on to describe her as "one of the greatest voices of her generation." Her posthumously released recordings have since sold in excess of four million copies, and in early 2001 the compilation album Songbird reached #1 on the UK album charts. It's so sad she never lived to see the recognition she deserved . . . I hope you enjoy her music as much as I do! This video shows you how you can get three (or more) songs a week for free over Zune Marketplace. A secret only most Zuners and some other music lovers know. ;) I myself have used this to get various songs for free, from recent hits (like Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love) to memorable classics (like Johnny Cash's I Walk the Line). Note: Like iTunes for their music, you need to register on Zune first to get these free songs, which are usually DRM-protected WMAs that can only be played on Zune software, Windows Media Player, and Zune devices. They also cannot be converted to AACs using iTunes, but they can be burned onto CDs. You will need to find a third-party converter for removal of the Zune DRM. Please search on YouTube for converting WMAs with DRMs. Also, there maybe other free songs on Zune that are not in the list, but are updated weekly anyway. They are Zune Freebies and they are indie songs that are promoted on the front of the music section in Zune Marketplace. Want more free music from Zune?
