At the end what I was trying to say was that if you try too hard to make your daughter feel beautiful, you may end up putting too much importance on appearances even though you're just trying to create for her a positive self image. With various types of visual art, I intend to represent what I encounter, as well as present to my audience an interpretation of our surroundings. I have chosen perception as my focus. I use the mediums of digital video and photography, because of their malleability, which is also a characteristic of perception. I enjoy working with video because of its ability to incorporate both sound and image into a sensorial experience. I try to remind the viewer that things are not always what they seem. I believe that the trickery of such technology has begun to awaken us to this fact. I observe and gather data, documenting and representing the worlds in which I find myself. Unigenderse examines the variability of gender roles by presenting excerpts of footage that I appropriated from feature films, television, and music videos. This interactive database shows obscured and/or switched gender, along with American feminine and masculine icons, from Marilyn Monroe to Arnold Schwarzenegger. I use the actors in such a way that they analyze themselves. I sorted and grouped these clips, according to stereotypical degrees of apparent gender and beauty. The purpose is to challenge the viewers' concepts of femininity and masculinity, while comparing the extreme Hollywood expressions to realistically unique or androgynous forms. Assorted audio clips of found dialogue correspond to the film's series of stereotypical images, while others question labels, prejudice, and identity. Representative of our culture, wall-mounted remote controls navigate the video and audio loops. The music wafting above represents Glam, Punk, New Wave, No Wave, and other Rock artists who have freed me to realize my totality. I wish to show the natural unpredictability of human personae. I invite you to follow your path, observe your perception, and explore your gender universe. I believe that mysterious or otherwise "unconventional" appearances display the scientific fact that none of us are only one gender each. Therefore, taking on one lifelong binary tag in society is absurd. I suggest the concept that gender is fluid. Each human is both female and male, estrogen and testosterone, yin and yang, to varying degrees, at different times, by the year, day, or minute

Note the background in this video clip... it is the yirdaki production area for Djalu, Winiwini and other members of the family. There is literally a mound of bark and wood shavings, in addition to a handful of discarded logs. I wonder what archaeologists will think if they excavate this site in 5000 years time?!?

I'm sequencing on Ableton rewired through Reason, and using a homebrew Max/MSP patch to turn my Korg MicroKontrol into a makeshift Electribe-style drum machine running a rack of Subtractors. I have a Faderfox LX2 to trigger loops and switch instrument channels. I keep my loops organised in the browser in Ableton by song - each song will have about 3 audio channels - drums, bass and one or more layers of miscellaneous 'musical' sounds. Then I have 5 MIDI parts that I build up as I'm playing. I've annotated the video anyway.

It also looks at shifting allies during wartime. The U.S. propaganda poster of the Russian solider in this piece is an obvious example. During World War II the Russians were our allies in the fight against fascism, but after the war the U.S. aligned against Russia. I'm not saying it's wrong or right. It's merely a statement of fact. The 20th century was a century of ideologies and it seems the 21st century is also shaping up to be another century of ideologies...one final note about the credits at the end of this piece--it may seem strange to run the credits forwards and then backwards, but I'm making a comment about the changing alliances or "revolving" alliances as it were. Ah... the malleability of youth. The great thing about young toddlers is that you can teach them things to say, even though they may not know what they're saying. Richie's Aunt taught him how to say, "Oh Jeez..." and now he says it all the time. Well, one day at church, Chris Kwak (of Yankee tatoo fame) was teaching how to say Yankees. I had to intervene. So, we began teaching Richie the proper way to view the Yankees. (Please note: If you think it was just dad and not mom, notice who takes over reciting the words to Richie at precisely the right time.)

. I have concentrated on sculpture(two of them, clay and POP) primarily for their malleability and universal representation. The title 'sculpting Mind Poems' is based on the two dualistic features in the film- sculpture and mind poems. Sculpture on its own was experimented with and dissolved with the medium of film and its tenets to try stop frame animation, hence animating inanimate clay to depict motion, emotion and a process of self evolution. The audio part of this film is non diagetic and both associative and non related .It is a soundscape created to act as a series of voices, universal questions and answers which are part of a universal self reflective dialogue. These 'mind poems' are mixed as a sound installation of introspection. The second half of the mini film concentrates on a Plaster of Paris two faced sculpture I made titled, 'Who am I?!'. By constructing the sound bytes with the separate visuals I delved into issues of love and self realization.

Details the rise of the latter movement and its masquerade as traditional conservatism to garner support and acquire power.
