Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Trial train operations were held on the railways between the north and the south on the east and west coasts Thursday. A report and speeches on the projects carried out to re-link the above-said railways were made prior to the operations. Trains ran from Kumgangsan Youth Station in the north to Jejin Station in the south and from Munsan Station in the south to Kaesong Station in the north. Present there from the north side were Kim Yong Sam, minister of Railways, and Kwon Ho Ung, chief councilor of the Cabinet, and other officials concerned and from the south side Ri Yong Sop, minister of Construction and Transportation, Ri Jae Jong, minister of Unification, and other officials concerned.

We are in North-Korea, in Kaesong Special Economic Zone. One of the biggest achievements in terms of inter Korean cooperation... Just a few kilometers away from the border. The South invests heavily, builds infrastructures and supplies electricity. www.france24.com

A one day trip from Seoul to Kaesong in North Korea.

A Pictures-Movie of my april 2003 trip in North Korea (from 8th to 22th). I was most of the time in Pyongyang, but also visited Nampo, Myohyangsan (Hyangsan), Panmunjon & Kaesong. The North Korean Governement allowed me here (at the occasion of "the Day of the Sun : Birthday of the former Leader Kim Il Sung), and presented me as a member of the French Juche Ideas Study Group; even if I said to them that I just wanted to learn more about the DPRK culture for the writing of my Master dissertation (I'm a student in Ethnology and Anthropology). Anyway, this status allowed me to can sometimes walk in Pyongyang without guide, to stay at the Koryo & Hyangsan Hotels, or to see the the embalmed body of the deceased great Leader at the Kumsusan Palace. What an adventure it was! After my return, I received my diploma with the awards! And still keep so many reminiscences of this experience... Except the tree first, and the group picture ("official") all the pictures or scans here are from me (or my guide, when I'm on!). I tried to do my best for be able to catch sometimes some pieces of reality of the common North Korean Peoples life... But it was not easy! In summer 2007, me and a friend went on a 4-day-trip to North Korea, joining a Chinese tour group from Dandong. On our trip, a cameraman took this video. The comments are in Chinese, so I added English subtitles. I'm German, so sorry if the English isn't perfect.
