Machu Picchu is stunning. I had no idea when I planned the trip how impressive it would be. The description below is for those who want to get oriented, but the video speaks for itself. Panorama from Main Plaza. If you imagine the view you see in most Machu Picchu pictures, that view is looking north. The plaza is the broad, grassy area, about mid-level in elevation, in the center of the standard picture. This video starts by looking south, toward where the photographer in the above would be. To the east (left) are the Superior Group structures, then turning to the west (right) are a pyramid of steps and a platform, topped by the sacred rock or Intiwatana, which is surrounded by a crowd. Then further around is the west or back side of Machu Picchu and then the neighboring mountain, Huayan Picchu. Then to a view of Huayan Picchu and the temple at its top from the east terraces.
