Hitachi AirSense : DigInfo

DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv The Hitachi AirSense is a networked sensor information system that gathers information such as temperature, humidity, and vibration using wireless sensors and executes networked integrated control. The networked sensor information system gathers information through a network on surrounding items and people, environmental temperature, humidity, vibration, to achieve peace of mind, safety, and comfort in food production plants, healthcare facilities, and other buildings where sanitation control and precise air and ambient control are critical. For example, the system can be used to detect temperature and humidity in kitchens and food warehouses to increase both food quality control and safety by changing air conditioning settings through remote operations based on the collected data. The collected information is controlled using "AirSense-Ware" sensor network integrated management software. This software package supports Multi PAN, which enables integrated management of multiple sensor networks, and executes centralized control of large scale sensor networks with hundreds of sensor nodes.

Hitachi EX 60 Excavator Making a Small Gravel Parking Lot

This is the same basic video as the other one I uploaded, entitled 'EX 60', but about a minute and a half shorter. I uploaded it to experiment with resolution settings. This one was created at 320x240, while the other one was done at 640x480. I wanted to see how much of a difference it would make in the YouTube converted version. They both look about the same to me. Using a Hitachi EX 60 excavator to construct a rough angle parking lot at a road side in front of a building supply company in Vancouver, Canada. NOTE: Sorry about the rough pixels. Honestly, it looked much better before I uploaded it. I guess a lot of the resolution was lost when the YouTube site converted it. I am a rather pleased with the way this vid turned out; actually, this is my first 'head cam' video that I can honestly say turned out pretty much as I had hoped. I was having a bit of a rough go of it, what with trying to get the camera up and down angle just right, as you probably can tell from watching some of my other 'at work' type videos. I tried tilting my hard hat to a much more forward angle this time, and pretty much hit the target bang on. What you see in this video is pretty much what I see when operating the excavator, but with a markedly narrower field of view, obviously. The camera still cannot follow my eyes' movement, just the movement of my head. One thing that I found interesting: When I watched this video full-screen before uploading it to this site, it occurred to me that what I saw on screen was pretty much the perspective that I saw when sitting in the cab, distancewise, in other words, the size of the objects on screen was pretty much the same as what I saw through my own eyes when in the machine, which I think is a plus. The down side is that the video gets a bit shaky at times, due to the bouncing and shaking of the machine. I left it in, rather than trying to stabilize it, as I would have had to give up too much of the image, and at some points, you would not have been able to see important aspects of this video, like the dozer blade, for example, as they would have been removed from the edge of the picture. I would ask two things of you: Please RATE this video, and PLEASE COMMENT on it. I'll be grateful if you would do that for me - be they favorable or unfavorable comments. I'm also open to your suggestions for future videos. I do not currently have access to a cat or backhoe, sorry (used to have, but that doesn't help now). But I will be doing a few more later on with an EX 200 (hopefully on a commercial demolition job somewhere) and a dump truck. Well, maybe not the dump truck, but we'll see. On another note, I'm looking for someone who would be willing to ride shotgun in a garbage truck (front loader, so no picking up garbage bags, just picking up cans with the forks) with me on one Saturday, to do camera work. There are a few different angles, etc, that I want to play with (eg: getting some overhead shots of the packer blade doing its thing, which I can't do solo, as I need someone in the cab to push the button for the blade; getting a side shot of the rear door opening and the blade pushing the garbage out, etc), and try to put together a better garbage truck video or three, than the ones I've been able to do so far. You'd have to pack your own lunch, and the only pay would be the pure, unadulterated joy of riding in a garbage truck (quite a glamorous thing, really ;p) . But if you're into that, and live in the greater Vancouver area, let me know. I usually start at about 3 am, as it's a 12 -13 hour shift, and I like to get it done before the transfer station closes. The shop is on the North Shore.

Hitachi 35mm-thick HD LCD TV : DigInfo

DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv Hitachi added 32-, 37- and 42-inch models to its high-definition TV Wooo UT Series. The new models are 35mm in thickness, excluding the frame. Integrating XCodeHD, a high-definition recording technology from Canada's ViXS Systems, the 250GB (gigabyte) hard drive built into the tuner enables recording of high-definition video for about 50 hours. The new series also features enhanced network support, allowing viewers to access a variety of content via the broadband Internet. "acTVila" is a TV-based network service that enables viewers to access not only text information and photos but video content by connecting the TV set to the broadband network. The "Net" button on the remote controller provides easy access to Wooonet, Hitachi's proprietary portal site, and viewers can upload the videos and photos they shot using Video de Mail, a mail service available on the site. The panels of the three UT Series LCD TVs have a product lifecycle of about 60,000 hours. Hitachi managed to reduce use of their materials and packaging materials by more than 10% compared to their predecessors, making energy conservation and ecological consideration the products' unique features. The new TVs also achieve 38% reduction in annual power consumption. The three new models will go on sale on June 7.

Blu-ray Video Camera - 2008 Hitachi Woo Camcorders : DigInfo

http://movie.diginfo.tv At a press conference in Tokyo on the 31st of January, 2008, Hitachi announced the release of their latest line of Blu-ray and HDD based video cameras. Improving on the DZ-BD7 and 7H which were released in japan last year, the new DZ-BD9H features a 60Gb HDD which can store up to 9 hours of full 1920 x 1080 HD footage and can also store 1 hour of footage on 8cm, 7.5Gb blu-ray discs. Kazuto Shimagami, Senior Manager, Digital AV Products Division, Hitachi: "We released the worlds first Blu-ray based camera last fall, and these cameras are a development from that. We have improved the storage to 60Gb so users can shoot and store a lot of footage. Compared with the previous models it has 1000 scanlines and a higher resolution. It also includes a Blu-ray Disc menu with other accessories, in addition to this we have also developed HDD only based cameras." The DZ-BD9H features an improved image processing system consisting of a new lens which allows for higher frequencies of light to be passed to the CMOS sensor, a 5.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor with a redesigned primary color filter for a higher signal to noise ratio in low light situations, reducing the minimum light requirements from 24 to 15 lux, and the optimized Picture Master Full HD image processing engine for more detailed crisper images, more vivid colors and less noise in low light situations, the processing engine can also compress the data by 1.5 to 2 times. These features combined allow for an improved auto focus and image stabilizing system and makes video shot in low light situations 1.5 times clearer, also improving overall image resolution by 10% when compared to the previous model. Hitachi will also release a HDD-only version, with a 60Gb HDD, which can store up to 9 hours of High Definition and 18 hours of Standard Definition footage, and it's dimensions are only 7cm by 9cm by 12 cm. Kazuto Shimagami, Senior Manager, Digital AV Products Division, Hitachi: "Basically this camera is based on the same concept as the Blu-ray Disc camera, but as it only uses a HDD it's much more compact and very easy to grip and hold securely. This camera is especially useful while traveling and can be connected with a Blu-ray Disc Writer so you can burn and store footage on a Blu-ray Disc. Hitachi will continue to develop a lineup of Blu-ray and HDD cameras based on the concept of using Blu-ray Discs as a storage medium." The included on-camera software allows for frames to be exported as images onto an SD card, can rearrange the order of footage and save up to 99 different sequences for viewing on a TV straight from the camera, it can also display and delete scenes on the camera before exporting the footage to a Blu-ray Disc. The DZ-BD9H will go on sale in Japan in early February for approximately ¥180,000 or US$1,700.

The Dawn of the Tera Era

"As Hitachi GST embarks upon its latest educational campaign and debuts a new market vision which it encapsulates as "The Dawn of the Tera Era," the company knew the time was once again right to produce a new video animation, given how successful these have always been in the past. This amazing collision of Capacity, Content and Culture has resulted in explosive growth of the amounts and types of information people are now storing. Megabytes are long forgotten. Today, gigabytes are being replaced by terabytes, hence the Tera Era. It's happening now. This is the Tera Era."
