Compiz Fusion: A Quick Demonstration

This is a demonstration of the Git version of Compiz Fusion (formerly known as compcomm), which is the remerge of beryl and compiz, and some of its interesting features. There are some screenshots at http://3bix.blogspot.com and http://puttabutta.blogspot.com . Check out http://www.opencompositing.org for more information! You can find a low quality version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWPhGLDHMLI Someone asked me about my system specs: My computer is running an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ (although I'm using 32-bit ubuntu since it's easier), motherboard is an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, Graphics: 256MG nVidia GeForce 7600GT. All parts ordered on Newegg.com (i made the computer). These parts were not that expensive, and they run Compiz Fusion (new name of compcomm) VERY well. And, since people are asking, I chose to film with a camera since I couldn't install the screencast plugin (I get compile errors).. can someone tell me the dependencies for it? And i used iMovie to make the video, I guess I could have used Kino, but I wasn't sure if it was up to it. The Song is "Ya Ya" on "The Early Tapes of The Beatles" album. I don't know if it's a Beatle singing, but I believe they're playing in the background. ====UPDATED=== I'm using grey-neu, an emerald theme I designed, http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Grey+Neu?content=60824 , and "glossy" in ubuntu, just customized to dark colors. However, since this video I have found a better theme called Neutronium Unity which includes instructions for workarounds to bugs you get with dark themes. http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Neutronium%20Unity?content=59189 ============== Using Avant Window Navigator for the dock.

Inside VMware Fusion

Google Tech Talks October, 17 2007 ABSTRACT Join Ben Gertzfield of VMware for a look behind the curtain at virtualization on the Mac, the technology that frees operating systems from their earthly hardware chains. Similar in spirit to the ideals of the microkernel and distributed computing, the abstracted and idealized CPU, storage, network, and other devices provided by virtualization remove the barriers formed by the underlying realities of heterogeneous physical hardware. We'll discuss the technologies forming and building upon virtualization, including the hypervisor (or virtual machine monitor), replay (deterministic recording and replaying of all hardware and software events), and virtual machine-based disaster recovery. In addition, we'll share the lessons learned from jumping head-first into the consumer software and Mac worlds, and how "thinking different" applies to porting a massive source code base to its third platform (after Linux and Windows). This talk will be taped by the engEDU Tech Talks Team. Speaker: Ben Gertzfield Ben Gertzfield is the lead developer of VMware Fusion for Mac, VMware's first virtualization solution for Intel Macs, currently available for free trial download. Ben graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in computer science, and subsequently lived and worked in Japan be...

Fusion 2100

Is nuclear fusion the energy source of the future? This 9 minute movie shows a physics lesson in 2100 about how nuclear fusion became the dominant energy source it is then. Explains the basics of fusion physics, as well as the technology needed to harnes it on earth. The film was made by Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics (IPP) on behalf of EFDA (European Fusion Development Agreement) with funding from the European Union (script and direction: Herbert Hackl; production: Naumann Film, Munich).

Compiz-Quinn(now Compiz-Fusion)for linux. The future is now!

Click 'MORE' Please n Read... This is Xgl/Compiz(now known as Beryl Project) running on my secondary comp which is a 4 year old dell with 2.4 ghz P4 proc, Nvidia 6600 GT gfx card, and only 512 megs of RAM. The music is Sidology Ep 2: Trinity, By Machinae Supremacy. This Linux install was SuSE 10.1 and I now use Sabayon Linux. Which you can get here: http://www.sabayonlinux.org Three versions include Mini CD install, Full x86 32bit install and Full x86 64bit install DVDs! The theme is a custom theme; which unfortunately I lost when my main hardrive died on me. :( However, you can get the wallpaper I used from my box.net account here: http://www.box.net/shared/static/ssvcn7tvei.jpg A few other cool backgrounds here: http://www.box.net/shared/static/vbnerbj5hg.jpg http://www.box.net/shared/static/vfqjgf3kjt.jpg The original backgrounds I downloaded from www.caedes.net; a great site which has many many more awesome backgrounds. The cubecaps are from art.gnome.org. Go here for 'Powered by Free Software' cubecap (this one was downscaled from the original using gimp to 1280x1024 to work with my res) http://art.gnome.org/backgrounds/other/1547 and here for 'Linux - Rided The Wave' cubecap. http://art.gnome.org/backgrounds/other/1131 The skydome can be found here. It, along with several of the others below, I made myself by splicing a mirrored version of the original and modifying it slightly so the two sides don't appear as perfect replicas of each other. http://www.box.net/shared/static/to24pcuin6.png A couple other cool skydomes: http://www.box.net/shared/static/tgm7tm86mv.png http://www.box.net/shared/static/c99jly0x9y.png http://www.box.net/shared/static/b1z7uxe8ze.png enjoy :D

My Mario Fan Game: Super Mario Fusion - Mario Meets Halo

This video is horribly outdated. Thanks to Axel Night at Attacked by Gorillas for the link to Joy2Key, which coverts keyboard input to joystick input: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm Here's another joystick-to-keyboard emulator: http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?download=1&ID=1625 1. Halo graphics are from HALO ZERO by Dobermann Software, which includes Dobermann, Chainsaw, AlexTheBlind, 58, and Atomik. Used by permission. 2. Yes, I have coded in the ability to discard your weapon. 3. I know I suck. I am not playing for skil, but to show off the level layout. 3. I will delete any comments that consist of the following: "It's not Mario." "Halo sucks." (any flame comments or non-constructive criticisms). Super Mario Fusion is a crossover Mario fan game made in Game Maker 7 Pro using a heavily modified version of the Super Mario Bros. Hello Engine III. I expect to release the demo and source by the weekend of January 11-13. Halo will be its own world in this crossover Mario fan game. I've developed three Halo weapons into the game: Plasma Pistol (with charge shot), Assault Rifle, and Covenant Plasma Rifle; Mario can use them all! The most significant aspect of the Halo levels is that THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT. Many enemies will be strategically placed throughout the levels, so you are required to work your way through the enemy fortifications at your own pace. Also, Halo weaponry will make certain sections easier, but Mario can still use his own weaponry (shells, fireballs, hammers, invincibility) to kill the Covenant. The Covenant cannot be stomped. The level featured will be in the demo release. Believe it or not, this level is only 40% complete. I still have one more sublevel planned after the checkpoint, and additional level design tweaks are needed for all areas of the level. As it stands, this is a very difficult level because of the timely pace and patience required for most sections of this level. If you have Game Maker 7 Pro, get the Hello Engine III at http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=346423&hl= Get Game Maker 7 Lite from: http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker/ (more) (less) Music used: Under Cover of Night (Halo OST)

Demo 07: Total Immersion, D'Fusion

Total Immersions's software, D'Fusion, enables the real-time integration of interactive 3D graphics into live video flows. Operating on standard PC devices and compatible with HD, this technology blurs the line between the virtual and real world. D'FUSION allows for competitive augmented-reality applications in both the entertainment and industrial arenas. The use of augmented reality under mobile constraints is among the latest trends tht Total Immersion has been exploring.

National Health : experimental prog fusion group

National Health was a progressive rock band associated with the Canterbury Scene. Founded in 1975 by keyboardists Dave Stewart (from Hatfield and the North) and Alan Gowen (from Gilgamesh), the band also included guitarists Phil Miller and Phil Lee and bassist Mont Campbell as original members. Bill Bruford was the initial drummer but was soon replaced by Pip Pyle. Campbell was replaced by Neil Murray and then John Greaves. A frequently changing lineup toured extensively and released two LPs of often lengthy, mostly instrumental, complexly scored compositions before splitting up in 1980. After the May 1981 death of Gowen, remaining members reconvened to record the album D.S. Al Coda, a set of compositions by Gowen, most previously unrecorded. The original albums and additional archival material have subsequently been released on CD. Their 1978 record Of Queues and Cures, which included Peter Blegvad (guitar, vocals) and Georgie Born (cello), is currently held as the third best record ever (of 53,000 candidate records) on the Gnosis web site. wikipedia weird shit, i like it.
