Detail
Directed by: Kanwal Ethi Produced by: Holm Taddiken Written by: Kanwal Sethi A journey through the occupied territories of the West Bank. At the entry point to Bet Omar, both sides of the road are lined by piles of rubble and in the middle of the road lies a huge boulder. Two Palestinian residents want to leave the town. In vain they try to remove the boulder with the help of their Truck and iron chains. Till somebody goes and gets an excavator. Israeli soldiers watch over the whole modus operandi, which repeats hourly. A humiliating ritual; since the residents must return the boulder themselves later to its original position. The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello
Now playing in the YouTube Screening Room: http://www.youtube.com/ytscreeningroom. Nominated for an Oscar and for a BAFTA award, Jasper Morello is a short feature made in a unique style of silhouette animation developed by director Anthony Lucas and inspired by the work of authors Edgar Alan Poe and Jules Verne. In the frontier city of Carpathia, Jasper Morello discovers that his former adversary Doctor Claude Belgon has returned from the grave. When Claude reveals that he knows the location of the ancient city of Alto Mea where the secrets of life have been discovered, Jasper cannot resist the temptation to bring his own dead wife Amelia back. But they are captured by Armand Forgette, leader of the radical Horizontalist anti-technology movement, who is determined to reanimate his terrorist father Vasco. As lightning energises the arcane machineries of life in the floating castle of Alto Mea, Jasper must choose between having his beloved restored or seeing the government of Gothia destroyed. Set in a world of iron dirigibles and steam powered computers, this gothic horror mystery tells the story of Jasper Morello, a disgraced aerial navigator who flees his Plague-ridden home on a desperate voyage to redeem himself. Also winner of the Grand Prix award at the Annecy Animation Festival, Jasper has also won the top honours at the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival, Best Animation at Flickerfest 2005, Best Animation at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy awards and Best Animation at Toronto worldwide shorts. |

Duration: 19'11". DigiBeta. AFI Distribution. Premièred at Flickerfest, Sydney, 1998. TECHNOMAD is a documentary about "home", nomadic traditions, their intersection with cyberspace, and what happens when reality goes off the rails and into the desert... The film focuses on both the "technomad" Roberto - as he struggles through both North-West Australia and the inconvenience of a film crew in his solitary existence - and on the filmmaker's ruminations on technology, nomadism, and isolation as we move towards a global village. |

Winter of the Udds
Originally made in 1996 and titled The UDD Conspiracy the concept of the UDD was an instant success! In 2000 the film was re-mastered and new scenes were added. The film was then retitled The Winter of the UDDS, finally the UDD war was created. The year is the present and two guys on a quest for the meaning of life are given an UDD (rubber glove being) as a gift. Something goes horribly wrong with their new-found friend, before the UDD is replicated by scientists and the new found beings (retaining their originals memory) turn against their creators - man. The result is a war against humanity itself! The war continues well passed the closing of this film, and to see where you might want to view 2001's Udds Armageddon, and 2006's Udds X. This film saw great success winning an encouragement award in the 7MAX 2000 Film Festival and a special award in the Riverina Flickerfest 2001 festival. |
