LifeCam VX-1000 Eyetracking

Towards easy-to-use and robust low-cost eyetracking systems. 30Hz version of 30 September 2008. Hardware: 1 x Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000, IR-blocking filter removed; 2 x Lightbulb 15 Watt. Software: Homebrew using Visual Studio 2008, C++, MFC, and Intel's Open Computer Vision Library (OpenCV). Accuracy test: One of 48 screen 'tiles' is randomly selected and an on-screen gaze target appears at its center. The user gazes at this target. In the visualization a blue dot denotes the 'raw' gaze direction of the left or right eye. The eye symbol is the low-pass filtered arithmetic mean of these two values. This is a good estimator for the current point of regard. Whenever the estimate does not hit the selected tile, the tile is colored red. When the estimate is within the boundaries of the selected tile, the latter is colored green. Finally, the relative tile hit time is computed as a test score for the overall accuracy. Thank you very much for your attention!

People and Power - War on drugs - 18 June 08 - Part 1

The US counter-narcotics agencies estimate that 90 per cent of the cocaine coming into the United States from South America was transited through Mexico. Drug-related violence has left more than 4,000 Mexicans dead in the last two years. Is the US government really concerned about the deaths of Mexican citizens as a consequence of the so-called war on drugs?

Culture of the Uyghurs (Part 1)

Introduction The Uyghurs are the native people of East Turkestan, also known as Sinkiang or Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The latest Chinese census gives the present population of the Uyghurs estimate according to Chinese official statement 8,345,622 million. But the Uyghurs estimate themselves more than 20 millions. There are also 500,000 Uyghurs in West Turkestan mostly known as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan . Almost 75,000 Uyghurs have their homes in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Europe and the United States. The Chinese sources indicate that the Uyghurs are the direct descendants of the Huns. Ancient Greek, Iranian, and Chinese sources placed Uyghurs with their tribes, and sub-tribes in the vast area between the west banks of the Yellow River in the east, Eastern Turkestan in the west, and in the Mongolian steppe in the northeast as early as 300 B.C.. Early History Uyghur Empire After the fall of the Kokturk Empire in Central Asia, the Uyghurs established their true state Uyghur empire in 744, with the city of Karabalgasun, on the banks of the Orkhun River, as its capital. After the death of Baga Tarkan in 789 and specially after that of his successor, Kulug Bilge Khagan in 790, Uyghur power and prestige declined. The Ganzhou Uyghur Kingdom The Kanchou (Ganzhou) Uyghur Kingdom, which was established in today's Gansu province of China, in 850. Several thousand of these Uyghurs still live in the Kansu (Gansu) area under the name yellow Uyghurs or Yugurs, preserving their old Uyghur mother tongue and their ancient Yellow sect of Lamaist Buddhism. The Karakhoja Uyghur Kingdom The Uyghurs living in the northern part of Khan Tengri (Tianshan Mountains) in East Turkestan established the Karakhoja Uyghur Kingdom (Qocho) near the present day city of Turfan (Turpan), in 846. The Karakhanid Uyghur Kingdom The Uyghurs living in the southern part of Khan Tengri, established the Karakhanid Uyghur Kingdom in 840 with the support of other Turkic clans like the Karluks, Turgish and the Basmils, with Kashgar as its capital. In 934, during the rule of Satuk Bughra Khan, the Karakhanids embraced Islam 19 . Thus, in the territory of East Turkestan two Uyghur kingdoms were set up: the Karakhanid, who were Muslims, and the Karakhojas, who were Buddhists. In 1397 this Islamic and Buddhist Uyghur Kingdoms merged into one state and maintained their independence until 1759. Manchu Invasion The Manchus who set up a huge empire in China, invaded the Uyghur Kingdom of East Turkestan in 1759 and dominated it until 1862. In 1863, the Uyghurs were successful in expelling the Manchus from their motherland, and founded an independent kingdom in 1864. The money for the Manchu invasion was granted by the British Banks. After this invasion, East Turkestan was given the name Xinjiang which means "new territory" or "New Dominion" and it was annexed into the territory of the Manchu empire on November 18,1884. Chinese communist rule In 1911, the Nationalist Chinese, overthrew Manchu rule and established a republic. Twice, in 1933 and 1944, the Uyghurs were successful in setting up an independent East Turkestan Republic. But these independent republics were overthrown by the military intervention and political intrigues of the Soviet Union. It was in fact the Soviet Union that proved deterrent to the Uyghur independence movement during this period. In 1949 Nationalist Chinese were defeated by the Chinese Communists. After that, Uyghurs fell under Chinese Communist rule. Uyghur Civilization At the end of the 19th and the first few decades of the 20th century, scientific and archaeological expeditions to the region along the Silk Road in East Turkestan led to the discovery of numerous Uyghur cave temples, monastery ruins, wall paintings, statues, frescoes, valuable manuscripts, documents and books. Members of the expedition from Great Britain, Sweden, Russia, Germany, France, Japan, and the United States were amazed by the treasure they found there, and soon detailed reports captured the attention on an interested public around the world. The relics of these rich Uyghur cultural remnants brought back by Sven Hedin of Sweden, Aurel Stein of Great Britain, Gruen Wedel and Albert von Lecoq from Germany, Paul Pelliot of France, Langdon Warner of the United States, and Count Ottani from Japan can be seen in the Museums of Berlin, London, Paris, Tokyo, Leningrad and even in the Museum of Central Asian Antiquities in New Delhi. The manuscripts, documents and the books discovered in Eastern Turkestan proved that the Uyghurs had a very high degree of civilization. This Uyghur power, prestige and civilization which dominated Central Asia for more than a thousand years went into a steep decline after the Manchu invasion of East Turkestan, and during the rule of the Nationalist and specially during the rule of the Communist Chinese.

High Warlord Pat PVP3 Part 1

Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FccYf6LOprc First of all i suggest you to all download whole video its really worth it: http://files.filefront.com/Pat+PvP3wmv/;11797375;/fileinfo.html Ok this is not MY video, all credits belongs to PAT (http://www.warcraftmovies.com/viewauthor.php?id=2860) for a great movie! "Almost exactly 3 full years after the immense success my second video (High Warlord insane crits) has gotten; I decided to answer the fans call and make a new video. But today, 3 years later, both the community and the game itself has changed a lot, for one thing when my 2nd video was originally posted on warcraftmovies.com there was only 4 or 5 pages of movies in the warrior category and today there is nearly 60 of them! I have been watching a lot of videos on this website since my 2nd video, starting with Maydies that came one month after mine and people had already started making comparisons and arguing about which one was better or whatsoever. So now 3 years later I cant even imagine to start at how much comparisons Im gonna get. I have watched tremendous works of editing in multiple video like Tales of the past, and boy do I feel like a total scrub in Video editing comparing myself to these guys. I learned how to edit with vegas by making my very few movies and thats it! . As I have stated before, I couldve never expected my previous videos to get the number views/download they got (I expected something like FIFTY views for my first video and got over 90k). And so I never really put so much editing time in them, in my first video I estimate I did around 10-15hours of work, in my second video I estimate I did around 20-25hours of work (lot of this time being actually learning Vegas itself..). For my 3rd volume, although I dont expect it to hit as much downloads as my famous 2nd video, I did realize I had a fanbase and I obviously expected a lot of downloads, so this time I thought itd be justified to put up a lot more work in editing. On this third volume, theres at least 10times as much editing work but Im afraid people wont notice it that much. I have come to realise Im not the best at this, I often have to pull off ideas cause Im not really capable of doing them, or sometimes I would waste hours on something and after seeing the result I would just erase everything cause it looked horrible.. Some say my earlier videos were overrated, and I kind of agree in a way, but there are obvious reasons why they were ; I was amongst the first to do these kinds of videos and what I was showing was always new to people; may it be new gear, new way of seeing how the class performed in PvP, or even being among the first WoW PvP video of the time. Today, it is pretty hard to be innovative with videos because so much stuff has already been done already. Also, today the game has changed a lot and its almost impossible to outgear people as I use to do it, partially because a lot of free gear is being handed out trough honor points and such, making the average player a LOT more resilient, a LOT harder to kill (scenes with consistants crits are so hard to catch even with nearly 40% crit; maybe about 80% of the people I hit near 400resil in BGs), so thats a negative point for entertainment. I expected the filming to be a lot more "impressive", but almost everything I was frapsing ended up not being as good as I expected (tbh I am unsatisfied with the quality of my action scenes but I just couldnt spend more time trying to get better ones). So with all of these facts, I tried making my 3rd volume as entertaining as I could but Im also realistic and I know it will never be as epic as my second one (or maybe the fanbase will surprise me once again?) Ive also worked on a intro/outro that some might argue being a little to slow or to long, but these are the parts I had most fun editing and in the process I felt like it was making my video unique and kind of goes along my signatures from my previous videos.." -Pat

ComSens #92 Common Sense by Thomas Paine

http://www.ushistory.org/Paine/commonsense/singlehtml.htm is without a debt, and without a navy; yet for the twentieth part of the English national debt, could have a navy as large again. The navy of England is not worth at this time more than three millions and a half sterling. The first and second editions of this pamphlet were published without the following calculations, which are now given as a proof that the above estimation of the navy is a just one. How To Make Your Internet Connections 20% Faster

REMEMBER : SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT, RATE! Hey there my name is Jeremy Drabsch and your watching my tutorial on how to Make Your Internet Connection 20% Faster. Were going to be using Microsoft Windows Professional Edition. Needed code: gpedit.msc link to tutorial on how to make mozilla firefox faster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU0b00SVnmI So what is Microsoft Windows Professional Edition? Windows XP is a line of operating systems developed by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, notebook computers, and media centers. The name "XP" stands for eXPerience.[2] Windows XP is the successor to both Windows 2000 Professional and Windows Me, and is the first consumer-oriented operating system produced by Microsoft to be built on the Windows NT kernel (version 5.1) and architecture. Windows XP was first released on October 25, 2001, and over 400 million copies were in use in January 2006, according to an estimate in that month by an IDC analyst.[3] It is succeeded by Windows Vista, which was released to volume licence customers on November 8, 2006, and worldwide to the general public on January 30, 2007. The most common editions of the operating system are Windows XP Home Edition, which is targeted at home users, and Windows XP Professional, which has additional features such as support for Windows Server domains and two physical processors, and is targeted at power users and business clients. Windows XP Media Center Edition has additional multimedia features enhancing the ability to record and watch TV shows, view DVD movies, and listen to music. Windows XP Tablet PC Edition is designed to run ink-aware applications built using the Tablet PC platform. Two separate 64-bit versions of Windows XP were also released, Windows XP 64-bit Edition for IA-64 (Itanium) processors and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition for x86-64. Windows XP is known for its improved stability and efficiency over the 9x versions of Microsoft Windows. It presents a significantly redesigned graphical user interface, a change Microsoft promoted as more user-friendly than previous versions of Windows. New software management capabilities were introduced to avoid the "DLL hell" that plagued older consumer-oriented 9x versions of Windows. It is also the first version of Windows to use product activation to combat software piracy, a restriction that did not sit well with some users and privacy advocates. Windows XP has also been criticized by some users for security vulnerabilities, tight integration of applications such as Internet Explorer 6 and Windows Media Player, and for aspects of its default user interface. Later versions with Service Pack 2, and Internet Explorer 7 addressed some of these concerns.

Bugliosi: The Prosecution of George W Bush Pt.4

See the entire talk at http://www.hotpotatomash.com/2008/06/video-exclusi-2.html "In George Bush's first speech to the nation on Hussein and Iraq, October 7, 2002 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bush told Americans that Saddam Hussein was a great danger to this nation either by his attacking us with the so-called weapons of mass destruction or by giving these weapons to a terrorist group to attack us. And Bush said that this attack could happen, 'on any given day,' meaning what, that the threat was imminent. The only big problem for George Bush is that on October the first, six days earlier, the CIA sent Bush its 2002 National Intelligence Estimate -- a classified top secret report that represented the consensus opinion of all 16 US federal intelligence agencies on the issue of whether or not Hussein was an imminent threat to the security of this country and on page 8 of that 91 page report it clearly and unequivocally says... that Hussein was not an imminent threat to the security of this country. That he would only be a threat if he feared we were about to attack him."

NATO's Illegal War Against Serbia/ Lies About Kosovo War 1/2

NATO launched a bombing campaign against Serbia in March 1999 to stop an onslaught ordered by then-President Slobodan Milosevic against the Albanian Muslim Terrorists in Kosovo. The air war lasted 78 days. During more than three months of bombing, NATO targeted mostly military targets, but also destroyed much of Serbia's infrastructure, including several key civilian bridges. Hundreds of people were killed in. The alliance faced criticism for dropping bombs with depleted uranium as well as cluster bombs, which eject a number of smaller "bomblets." WATCH! "The Lies Of The Racak "Massacre"/ Bill Clinton's Role In Kosovo" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-muEj_E0PY Remember why NATO spent 78-days bombing Yugoslavia in the spring of 1999? There was the ethnic cleansing. The atrocities. The refugees chased out of Kosovo by the Serb army. The mass graves. The heaps of bodies tossed into vats of sulphuric acid at the Trepca mines.NATO spokesman Jamie Shea said there were 100,000 Kosovo Albanian Muslims unaccounted for. Problem is, none of it happened.NATO's original estimate of 100,000 ethnic Albanians slaughtered, later revised downward to 10,000, turns out to be considerably exaggerated.Dr. Peter Markesteyn, a Winnipeg forensic pathologist, was among the first war crimes investigators to arrive in Kosovo after NATO ended its bombing campaign."We were told there were 100,000 bodies everywhere," said Dr. Markesteyn. "We performed 1,800 autopsies -- that's it."Fewer than 2,000 corpses. None found in the Trepca mines. No remains in the vats of sulphuric acid. Most found in isolated graves -- not in the mass graves NATO warned about. And no clue as to whether the bodies were those of KLA terrorists, civilians, even whether they were Serbs or ethnic Albanians. No wonder then that of all the incidents on which Slobodan Milosevic has been indicted for war crimes, the total body count is not 100,000, not 10,000, not even 1,800 -- but 391! It was William Walker, at the time head of the Kosovo Verification Mission (KVM) who, on the morning of January 16, 1999, led the press to the Kosovo village of Racak, a KLA stronghold. There some 20 bodies were found in a shallow trench, and 20 more were found scattered throughout the village. The KLA terrorists, and Walker, alleged that masked Serb policemen had entered the village the previous day, and killed men, women and children at close range, after torturing and mutilating them. Chillingly, the Serb police were said to have whistled merrily as they went about their work of slaughtering the villagers.Clinton's Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, as eager to scratch her ever itchy trigger finger as her boss was to scratch his illimitable sexual itches, demanded that Yugoslavia be bombed immediately. Albright, like a kid agonizingly counting down the hours to Christmas, would have to wait until after Milosevic's rejection of NATO's ultimata at Rambouillet to get her wish. But not everyone was so sure that William Walker's story was to be believed. The French newspaper La Monde had some trouble swallowing the story. It reported on Jan. 21, 1999, a few days after the incident, that an Associated Press TV crew had filmed a gun battle at Racak between Serb police and KLA terrorists. Indeed, the crew was present because the Serbs had tipped them off that they were going to enter the village to arrest a man accused of shooting a police officer. Also present were two teams of KVM monitors. It seems unlikely that if you're about to carry out a massacre that you would invite the press -- and international observers -- to watch. And now there's a report that the Finnish forensic pathologists who investigated the incident on behalf of the European Union, say there was no evidence of a massacre. In an article to be published in Forensic Science International at the end of February, the Finnish team writes that none of the bodies were mutilated, there was no evidence of torture, and only one was shot at close range. The pathologists say Walker was quick to come to the conclusion that there was a massacre, even though the evidence was weak. And they point out that there is no evidence that the deceased were from Racak. The KLA terrorists, the Serbs charge, faked the massacre by laying out their fallen comrades in the trench they, themselves, prepared, and the United States used the staged massacre as a pretext for the bombing. October 12, 2008 The Pentagon has reportedly proposed a $450 billion increase in the military budget in a move believed to be in preparation for a war. The new military budget estimate for the next five years is expected to be revealed shortly before President George W. Bush leaves office in January 2009. The fiscal 2010 portion of the estimate includes a $57 billion increase, $30 billion of which would be allocated to a vaguely defined contingency fund and $14 billion would be used for replacing or repairing existing military equipment or reset and modernization. The new budget numbers raise speculation about the likelihood of a new US military engagement as it highlights Defense Department fears that the already record-high military budgets would be grossly insufficient in the years ahead. FPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT=Fabled Enemies" Since taking office, the Bush administration has increased baseline military spending by 30 percent, which puts the annual military spending, at its highest level since World War II. While reset and modernization funds in the proposal are relatively unlikely to arouse controversy, the $30 billion contingency fund could face fierce opposition. If approved, the contingency fund would help the rapid deployment of US forces overseas in the event of an unexpected crisis. The incoming administration would decide on the newly-proposed military budget and the large increase in overall defense funds. This is a political document, said one former senior budget official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. It sets up the new administration immediately to have to make a decision of how to deal with the perception that they are either cutting defense or adding to it. The US presidential candidates differ on their policies regarding military issues. While Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama only supports the current planned increase of 92,000 Army and Marine Corps personnel, his Republican rival John McCain is pushing for an additional 150,000 troops to be paid for within the initially-introduced budget

People and Power - War on drugs - 18 June 08 - Part 2

The US counter-narcotics agencies estimate that 90 per cent of the cocaine coming into the United States from South America was transited through Mexico. Drug-related violence has left more than 4,000 Mexicans dead in the last two years. Is the US government really concerned about the deaths of Mexican citizens as a consequence of the so-called war on drugs?

Roubini: Worst Recession in 40 Years - P2

Roubini Sees Worst Recession in 40 Years, Stock Drop (Update3) Oct. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Nouriel Roubini, the professor who predicted the financial crisis in 2006, said the U.S. will suffer its worst recession in 40 years, driving the stock market lower after it rallied the most in seven decades yesterday. ``There are significant downside risks still to the market and the economy,'' Roubini, 50, a New York University professor of economics, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. ``We're going to be surprised by the severity of the recession and the severity of the financial losses.'' The economist said the recession will last 18 to 24 months, pushing unemployment to 9 percent, and already depressed home prices will fall another 15 percent. The U.S. government will need to double its purchase of bank stakes and force lenders to eliminate dividends to save them from bankruptcy, Roubini added. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said today he plans to use $250 billion of taxpayer funds to purchase equity in thousands of financial firms to halt a credit freeze that threatened to drive companies into bankruptcy and eliminate jobs. ``This will be the first round of recapitalization of the banks,'' Roubini said. ``The government has to decide to intervene much more directly in the provision of credit and the management of these companies.'' The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rallied the most since 1933 yesterday, rising 12 percent, on the government plan to buy stakes in banks and a Federal Reserve-led push to flood the global financial system with dollars. The S&P 500, which has fallen 36 percent since its October 2007 record, dropped 0.5 percent today. `Really Tanking' ``The stock market is going to stop rallying soon enough when they see the economy is really tanking,'' Roubini added. The U.S. unemployment rate stood at a five-year high of 6.1 percent last month. Home prices in 20 U.S. metropolitan areas fell 16 percent in July from a year earlier, the most since records began in 2001, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home- price index. Bank seizures may push home prices down further, scaring away buyers in coming months, after U.S. foreclosures rose at the fastest rate in almost three decades in the second quarter, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Roubini said total credit losses resulting from the meltdown of the subprime mortgage market will be ``closer to $3 trillion,'' up from his previous estimate of $1 trillion to $2 trillion. The International Monetary Fund estimated $1.4 trillion on Oct. 7. Financial firms have so far reported $637 billion in losses, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Team Cornell and the 2007 Urban Challenge: Research, Results and Next Steps

Google Tech Talks January, 17 2008 ABSTRACT Team Cornell was one of six teams to complete the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge, completing over 55 miles of autonomous driving in an urban environment in approximately seven hours, including competition stops. The competition included many urban driving scenarios such as staying in a lane, merging into traffic, passing, intersections, parking, and even robot-robot interaction. Team Cornell designed and built a vehicle around technological innovations in vehicle automation, a real time UDP based data distribution system, tightly coupled pose estimation, scene estimation including localization within an urban environment and tracking all obstacles with a fusion of laser, radar and vision sensors, and hierarchical intelligent planning. Team Cornell's vehicle was designed to drive "human-like" with smooth, intelligent behaviors, even in the presence of a vast array of uncertainties. The systematic approach taken by Team Cornell led to an innovative, robust solution to the complex problem proposed in the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. This seminar will present the key technologies, semi-final and final results, and plans for future research.
