Extreme Makeover Home Edition - Stockdale Family 1 of 5

Aired - December 2, 2007 Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover Home Edition design crew travel to Middleton, ID for tonight's episode. The team will be building a new dream house for the Stockdale family. The Stockdale family consists of high school sweethearts Ryan and Karia Stockdale and their four children. The Stockdale children all suffer from a rare disease known as Eosinophilic Enteropathy. This disease is a white blood cell disease. It attacks proteins, preventing the ingestion and digestion of food. The disease also affects and causes diseases of the lungs, kidneys, blood, intestines and immune system. The children's names are Kayden, Jetty, Baylee, and McKinnon. Kayden was born with Gastroschisis, where the intestines are outside the body. Kayden had to undergo two surgeries to correct. Jetty and Baylee have to bed with feeding tubes because of their condition. McKinnon is the youngest Stockdale child, and she was born two months premature. In addition to the children, the parents have also suffered some health problems. Ryan had been diagnosed with Migraine Glaucoma. The same disease recently lead to his brother's blindness. Karia suffered some complications while pregnant with McKinnon, and she had to undergo five major surgeries. Even with all the medical problems, the parents are very active in their community. They created a book drive and ran instrument drive for their school. Karia is a tutor and head of a humanitarian group. The family's home has several problems such as a coal-burning furnace and a weak plumbing system. Because the family has to get their water from an indoor well, they can only run one water-using appliance at a time. http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome/index?pn=index

Acid Reflux home cures and remedies "acid Reflux" Heartburn

http://tinyurl.com/68j9bl ========= Diagnosis ========= A detailed history taking is vital to the diagnosis. Useful investigations may include barium swallow X-rays, esophageal manometry, 24-hour esophageal pH monitoring and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD). In general, an EGD is done when the patient does not respond well to treatment, or has alarm symptoms including: dysphagia, anemia, blood in the stool (detected chemically), wheezing, weight loss, or voice changes. Some physicians advocate once-in-a-lifetime endoscopy for patients with longstanding GERD, to evaluate the possible presence of Barrett's esophagus, a precursor lesion for esophageal adenocarcinoma. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) (a form of endoscopy) involves insertion of a thin scope through the mouth and throat into the esophagus and stomach (often while the patient is sedated) in order to assess the internal surfaces of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Biopsies can be performed during gastroscopy and these may show: * Edema and basal hyperplasia (non-specific inflammatory changes) * Lymphocytic inflammation (non-specific) * Neutrophilic inflammation (usually due to reflux or Helicobacter gastritis) * Eosinophilic inflammation (usually due to reflux) * Goblet cell intestinal metaplasia or Barretts esophagus. * Elongation of the papillae * Thinning of the squamous cell layer * Dysplasia or pre-cancer. * Carcinoma. Reflux changes may be non-erosive in nature, leading to the entity non-erosive reflux disease.
