A tribute to the 29 men who died November 10, 1975, aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior. Video and images set to Gordon Lightfoot's 1976 song.

Just a small memorial I put to together to honor those lost on the ship. I wanted to do it, to show my love of the big ship, and because I am a Michigan resident my whole life, so I threw this together.

Dedication to the men who lost their lives on the Edmund Fitzgerald. Special thanks to Gordon Lightfoot for his song without which this presentation would not be possible.

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is a song written and performed by Gordon Lightfoot in commemoration of the sinking of the bulk carrier SS Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. It was inspired by the Newsweek article on the event, "The Cruelest Month", which appeared in the issue of November 24, 1975[1]. The song originally appeared on Lightfoot's 1976 album, Summertime Dream, and was later released as a single. The single reached #2 on the Billboard pop charts in November 1976, making it Lightfoot's second most successful (in terms of chart position) single, with "Sundown" reaching number one in 1974. I have included the Remembrance Tribute to the 29 able bodied Seamem who lost their lives to "Ashokan Farewell" written and recorded by Jay and Molly Unger for The PBS Civil War Series produced by Ken Burns. The Egyptian (1954), Edmund Purdom, Bella Darvi with Jean Simmons, Victor Mature, Gene Tierney This segment: Scenes with Gene Tierney. This is very loosely based on The Story of Sinuhe, which does include references to Aten but was written many centuries before the 18th dynasty. Sets, costumes, and props from this film were bought and re-used by Cecil B. DeMille for The Ten Commandments. As the events in that story take place seventy years after those in The Egyptian, this re-use creates an unintended sense of continuity. The commentary track on the Ten Commandments DVD points out many of these re-uses. Only two actors, Mimi Gibson and John Carradine, and a handful of extras, appeared in both pictures. The Prince Aly Khan was a consultant during filming, he was engaged to Gene Tierney.
