34028 'Eddystone' in Microsoft Train Simulator
In this video, 34028 takes empty coaching stock from Swanage to Corfe Castle in readiness for a wedding special from Corfe Castle to Swanage. The loop at Corfe Castle is out of use though so the run round procedure has to take part at Norden instead of Corfe Castle. |

Eddystone M1917 30.06
This rifle is a forgotten piece of history. This rifle was built for the US expeditionary forces that fought in world war one, due to lack of M1903 production levels. Its mechanics are based on the experimental P17 rifle that the English were developing to replace the Enfield SMLE, but the English ended the project and The US took its design and modified it to fire the 30.06 cartridge. The US army after world war one ended all Eddystone production and sold or gave away most of them, largely due to the rifles English origins. The army chose the M1903 as its standard battle rifle. I can testify that the Eddystone design is excellent, Iv taken mine out to 300 yards and it still has deadly accuracy. |

Luxon & Crofut - Bold Nelson-Eddystone Light (Cover Slide)
I make this video is for my Yahoo! 360 Blog, My favourite music, My music world ... A Tribute to Luxon & Crofut ... I love this audio CD very much ... Info: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Two Gentlemen Folk" by Benjamin Luxon With Bill Crofut & Friends. The album released on September 22, 1987. Bill Crofut & Friends at Mechanics Hall (both in concert and without an audience in the same venue), playing folk songs from a span of hundreds of years and several countries. Crofut, who plays both banjo and 12-string guitar, shares the lead vocals with the rich-voiced Benjamin Luxon, a native of Cornwall ... Benjamin Luxon CBE (born March 24, 1937 in Redruth, Cornwall, UK) is a retired Cornish baritone. Luxon established an international reputation as a singer when he won a third prize at the 1961 ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In 1974, Luxon began his long association with the English National Opera which culminated in his appearance in the title role of Verdi's Falstaff in 1992. He sang in most of the major European opera houses and made frequent appearances in Munich (Bayerische Staatsoper) and Vienna (Wiener Staatsoper). Due to sudden hearing loss in 1990, he was forced him to end his singing career a few years later. However, he has developed a career as a narrator and poetry reader whilst continuing to give masterclasses and direct opera. For his services to British music, Luxon was made a CBE in 1986 ... The late Bill Crofut was born in Cleveland, USA, an internationally acclaimed singer, composer and banjo player who defied categorization. He first surfaced during the folk music boom in the late 1950s. His diverse interests are represented by more than 20 recordings, including folk music and jazz, classical music, and comparisons of English and American songs. He made seven tours representing the United States in more than 50 countries and received a Presidential Citation for his contribution to international cultural exchanges. Bill Crofut died of cancer Jan. 25, 1999, at his home in Sandisfield, Mass. He was 64 ... * |

208. Eddystone Light (Traditional)
Another mermaid song! England's Eddystone Light is probably the most famous lighthouse in the world. The first Eddystone Light, on Eddystone Rocks, a reef south of Plymouth, was the first lighthouse anywhere to be built on an exposed rock in the open ocean. It was originally built in 1698, but the song refers to the fourth lighthouse, built by James Smeaton between 1756 and 1759, which lasted until cracks appeared in the base 127 years later and it had to be dismantled. I first heard this song sung by Burl Ives, and later Shirley Abicair. It has been recorded many times since then, for example, by Richard Dyer-Bennet, The Weavers, The Brothers Four and Peter, Paul and Mary. |

Eddystone 190708
The Eddystone lighthouse, 8 miles off Plymouth, Devon, UK. Many boats and lives have been lost at this reef, as you can see, submerged at high tide. The stump is the base of Smeaton's Tower which was moved to Plymouth Hoe when Douglass's tower was built in 1882. This location has a long history and more can be found out at http://www.trinityhouse.co.uk/interactive/gallery/eddystone.html The trip was organised by the Association of Lighthouse Keepers ( http://alk.org.uk ) and apologies for the camera shake- the sea was a bit rough! |
