Whispering Giants Part 1/2 - Dendrochronology
Dr Gretel Boswijk discusses the basic principles of dendrochronology. Dr Boswijk is the Director of the Tree Ring Lab at the School of Geology, Geography and Environmental Science, Auckland University. http://www.sges.auckland.ac.nz/sges_research/treeringlab/index.htm |

Tree-rings, chronologies, rootgrowth and the global flood
There are many kind of things that are not discussed by YEC's when they defend flood-geology. Can a YEC give an explanation for this phenomenon? Carbon Dating is highly inaccurate
It really is! BTW - the tree ring method is called Dendrochronology Accuracy: for example from http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3904/is_200304/ai_n9189146/pg_7 "Uncalibrated radiocarbon dates from 13 pit features range between 50 B.C. and A.D. 530, with relatively small margins of error of + or - 50 or 60 years" That's a margin of error of 50 years on a 500 year period, so up to 10%. Not hugely accurate. But not bad either. |

Uvdal Stave Church - stavkirke - exterior
More Uvdal? Click on user nadflah. Some old and hasty exterior shots of the infamous and beautiful Uvdal Stave Church. The church is situated at Uvdal in Nore and Uvdal municipality, which is in the valley Numedal in Norway. The stave church was originally constructed just after the year 1168, which we know through dendrochronological dating of the pine tree used during the construction. The logs were not completely dry when the construction took place. More on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uvdal_stave_church And, er, no great pretensions here :-) These videos are old now :-) Concept and ideas: Knut Morten Bjørnsrud Music composer/performer: Ulf Meyn Location: Uvdal, Norway Camera/editor/director: Erik Meyn Executive producer: Knut Morten Bjørnsrud Production: Numedalsnett AS Church owner: Fortidsminneforeningen, Norway URL (in English, from the society which OWNS the church): http://www.fortidsminneforeningen.no/properties/54/85 http://www.numedal.net |

Uvdal Stave Church - stavkirke - interior
For more Uvdal click on user nadflah. THIS is an interior video from The Uvdal Stave Church, a small wooden medieval stave church from the small valley of Uvdal in Numedal in Norway. The stave church was originally constructed just after the year 1168, which we know through dendrochronological dating of the pine tree used during the construction. The logs were not completely dry when the construction took place. The church is a small and very beautifully preserved classic Norwegian stave church. The interior decoration is in ancient Norwegian style and the symbols are both christian and non-christian. You know, you should really visit the whole of the Numedal valley, which has the largest collection of beautiful medieval wooden buildings in Norway :D It is forbidden to shoot video or take pictures of the interior. This video was made some years ago as a cooperative project between Fortidsminneforeningen (the owner) and Numedalsnett (a local internet resource). We were allowed to shoot the interior with small production means and a minimum of lightning. Concept and ideas: Knut Morten Bjørnsrud Music composer/performer: Ulf Meyn Location: Uvdal, Norway Camera/editor/director: Erik Meyn Executive producer: Knut Morten Bjørnsrud Production: Numedalsnett AS Owner: Fortidsminneforeningen, Norway URL (in English, from the society which OWNS the church): http://www.fortidsminneforeningen.no/properties/54/85 More Uvdal: http://www.numedal.net |
