Devil May Cry, DMD 100% Challenge, Mission 1
S-Rank Requirements: Time: 6:00 Red Orbs: 400 Edit: Adding a URL for an old Mission 1 *Dante* vid of mine. http://www.phantombabies.net/videos/force_edge/ I'll come back and clean up this description later. In the meantime, that's if you want to see what M1 would be like with Dante. Firstly, I'm using LDK for this challenge, solely for the godawful Mission 1. (Yamato makes it easier.) I've completed DMD Mission 1 with a fresh Dante twice now, but I don't feel like doing it a third time - my apologies. After Mission 1, using LDK is *exactly* the same as using Dante. For Mission 1, a few things went wrong: - Before the kick-jump up to the rusty key room, I'm running around in circles, briefly - there was a lag at that point which threw me for a loop. - Against the Fetishes, I spazz out no less than 3 times - I just couldn't stop drifting off into a daydream :p ... See if you can spot those moments :p - Against the first wave of Marionettes in the basement, the camera angle changed - and it shouldn't have done. That means I went forward a step or two too far - however, no harm was done, though if I had the FE there probably would have been. - I panicked a bit against the second wave. You don't know how aggressive the 2nd wave is, until you fight it - the bastards are near-constantly throwing/shooting projectiles at you. - I panicked against the Fetish in the biplane room. I was terrified it would DT (it DTs quite quickly), so I switched to juggling it in mid-air. Differences with Dante, if interested: - 1st wave, basement: no differences - I use exactly the same sword-cancelling strategy, it just takes longer. - 2nd wave, basement: I tend to hang back in an alcove and do nothing but *shoot* - I felt it was a bit wussy to do that with Yamato, though. Also, unless you have 0 Bloody Maris (extremely rare), the timer WILL run out - which means the only safe way to take out the remaining DTed puppets is by walking around, shooting non-stop. - Biplane room: VERY different. You can't defeat the Bloody Maris before they DT, so instead do 2-3 quick combos, then jump up to a low blue platform at the back of the plane - from there you can finish 'em off with shooting. |

Fire/Poison Mage Sharks
Here's some background info: 1. I DTed from level 58~78 2. I went Squid from level 78~100 3. I went Grims from level 100~115 So basically, I have 0 shark experience. I was too accustommed to grims and etc to switch over to sharks so i started to build HP equips so i could take a hit and use it as a handicap against Dispel. Since I have no/very little experience at sharks, you can see i made A LOT of mistakes when trainng. I just started to try it at 116 and made a quick vid of myself so here you go. |

Devil May Cry, DMD 100% Challenge, Mission 15
So glad. Mission 15 is *finally* done :p S-Rank Requirements: Time: 10:00 Red Orbs: 1500 This mission was a sticking point for me - namely the Shadows =/. I succeeded in my aim of using Ifrit, but, thanks to the docile red Shadow at the end, you missed the most fun part of all: me evading a DTed red Shadow with normal jumps only :p ... One of these days I'll record a multiple Shadow fight with Ifrit. It'll be more fun and easier to do when I don't have a long mission to try and SB. The entire mission went well, although I'd rather have got *under* 10:00, instead of going just over. Hope you enjoy :p |

Devil May Cry, DMD 100% Challenge, Mission 21
S-Rank requirements: Time: 5:00 Red orbs: 700 I did Mission 21 a heck of a lot quicker than I thought I would: after practicing for a bit, I got it on my first serious try. Hence this mission is a bit of mixed bag, but hopefully the good parts make up for the botched parts :p I used Alastor for the Nobodies, because I was so damned bored of the "Inferno, then grenade-roll" approach I *always* take against these cute'n'cuddly creatures of the Underworld. And I think it worked quite well - it was something a bit different, at any rate. That's a *whole* blue orb you pick up in the Secret Mission, by the way - so even if you don't want to complete the SM fully, I suggest taking a stop to pick up the blue orb. In the last room of the dungeon, I took a shortcut, bypassing the dinosaur, 4 Frosts (there are up to 4 Frosts on Hard/DMD mode) and the annoying moving eye platforms :p ... It's easy to do, too, and should be self-explanatory: you just need about 7 DT runes. When grabbing hold of the first ledge, btw, all you press is L1 to de-DT: Dante will grab hold of the edge automatically and haul himself up. That's the only remotely tricky bit, and even that's not very hard. At the end of it all, I got a Bangle of Time for my troubles which I won't even use =p ... (Well, perhaps I'll try and find a use for it in Mission 23: I'll see). The BoT, if you don't already know, consumes your DT to freeze time: during this time you can damage stopped enemies with non-DTed attacks. It's best used in conjunction with super Dante, but has its uses with regular Dante, too, if you're so inclined. Mission 21 itself went okay, though I had a bit of trouble getting through the first set of tentacles: look, I got through them quicker in practice, okay? :p ... Incidentally, by far the easiest way of getting through the tentacles damage-free is to walk through the middle of them, blasting E&I, but I was too lazy to switch between E&I and the grenade gun. In the room with the two Plasmas, for some reason my grenade gun shots kept on missing the 2nd Plasma - that didn't happen in any of my practice tries =/. That was a bit annoying and frustrating, but I lost the plot even more on the very first rising platform: I *had* meant to do a slightly tricky Air Hike over to the ledge with the red vase: instead I just took a random jump off; y hello thar, life-draining lava below :p ... Fortunately, I came to my senses *just* in time and was able to double jump back onto the platform: but yeah: I got a bad attack of nerves at that point. The rest of the mission went fine; I equipped the shotgun at the end. You'll see why in the very next mission :p So, I finally have a maxed LDK! I have 10 DT runes and two full lifebars. I've picked up virtually all of the available items, too: 7 yellow orbs; 7 Holy Waters, 6 Devil Stars - there just remains one Untouchable left to collect, to make 5 in total. All twelve of the Secret Missions are finally done, too. Only Mundus left to face, and he is always a tough, cheap bastard... |

Nelo 3 DMD, Stinger-Meteor Strategy
Long-ass description... Read at you're own peril... Sorry about the recording anomalies, to whoever's watching. The video is playing back about 25-30% slower than I recorded it. Though you should probably be able to tell something is wrong by how screwed up the audio is. So in case you're wondering, this is not the PAL DMC1. My other DMC1 videos run at normal speed. Here's the thing about Nelo 3. IMO the best DT ability for taking hi down is Meteor 2, and at the same time, Stinger 2 is probably the best non-DT move for this battle, visa vi being able to get near him and stop him from doing anything relatively safely before taking other various measures to build up DT with you're sword attacks. An interesting thing to observe in this battle is how easy it is to switch to Alastor via R3 during the stun effect of Meteor. This attack is a guaranteed stun at all times except for the horizontal slash windup and the dropdown/low guard he does prior to an uppercut, and posssibly that punch and roundhouse kick combo he sometimes does, which I couldn't get him to use against me here:-/ Also, I could've/ should've used a Roundtrip prior to his teleport away from me before he got me with that Phantom Sword cluster. I cannot reliably deal with his PSwords without preempting them somehow, via Meteor, Vortex/ or Roundtrip. I've come to rely on that sort of measure at this point, not being able to stop his PSwords means significant pain for Dante:p I could've also tried a Roundtrip during Alastor combos to stall Nelo while switching to Ifrit, while that might've been kinda interesting, I still found may opportunities to perform a switch anyways. Generally it's those same opportunities when you know a taunt is feasable. Another cool way to force a weapon change against Nelo is once you're DT gauge is full, DT and perform 2 slashes and then a Stinger. The Stinger will almost always Knock Nelo back, then run backwards, unDT, immediately switch to Ifrit, and immediately DT, then hit him with as many Metoers as you want. really, anytime you land a blow that stuns him, you should be able to run away from him a bit and switch weapons in time before he has a chance to attack you. It's just that the above method is a way to control you're opportunities to land a blow that will knock him back. 2 DTed slashes and a stinger almost always does that. Maybe I'll make a better version of this battle later, but this is the best I got the opportunity to do at the time. Anyways, that's it for the lengthy explaination... later. |
