I know it's been a while since our last workshop, but we have been really busy setting up banjos and gearing up for the big shindig in April. Anyway, a young man in the UK contacted us with a request for Cripple Creek so I turned on the camera right before I packed up this banjo to ship it to North Carolina.

Cripple creek played clawhammer style this time instead of bluegrass. For those of you who don't know what clawhammer style or are frankly surprised that there is more than one way to play banjo, heres a background on it. Clawhammer style is played with the thumb and the nail of either your middle or index finger. Several resources on the web sugest that the style was invented by laborers that developed carpal-tunnel syndrome, a condition in which the muscles in your hand contract involuntarily, causing it to bend into a rigid claw shape.
