Some knife users want something different. Yeah the Marine Raider, Heavy Bowies, Trailmasters, and other large knives are functional and proven but maybe you want your large knife choice to be a bit more special. Then consider the Crowell/Barker Competition Knife by Browning. Its a collaboration between James Crowell and Reggie Barker, winners of the American Bladesmith Society (ABS) World Cutting Championship. It is currently being produced under the Browning name. Nutnfancy is not the expert on purpose-built rope cutting knives but he knows a thing or two about woods knives. And the CBCK has a heft, balance, blade length (10), and thickness (double tapered ¼) that should make it a formidable chopper and wood splitter in the wilderness. This is again a knife that could do everything and more a small camp axe could do. It compares favorably in size to the aforementioned blades as well. The black micarta handle is handsome and contrasts nicely with the satin finished 1085C blade. The makers also mention camp use with this large blade and it could indeed tackle those tasks with ease. However there are a few downsides as well: the carbon steel blade is uncoated and will tend to rust easily in humid environments (keep it wiped down!), the micarta handles are not removable for maintenance purposes, the handle tends to the short side if you have large hands, and the squared corners of the grip could be radiused more. But overall its a slick and impressive package, especially with the included and personally signed product card. The Crowell/Barker design therefore results in an affordable, cool, and very functional collectible large knife. Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 7 out of 10

As far as enjoyment goes, it's hard to beat the Kershaw Blur. For the regular 13C26 steel versions, about $50 to $60 buys you a lot of knife enjoyment. This Ken Onion design has beautiful execution and quality throughout this assisted opening design. Perhaps some downsides might be the past choice of 440A steel (sadly, most my versions), the thin liner lock, and the wider blade that makes precise EDC cutting tasks more difficult. But the Kershaw brings mostly good news to our table: aesthetic design is a great variety of colors and higher quality steels (S30V, SG2 like mine in attractive brown handle), lightening fast deployment, tight lockup, open pillar construction, perfectly angled thumb stud, nice Trac Tec rubber inserts, and a near perfect blackened SS pocket clip. It's a tremendous value for $50 and if you have a craving for an auto you would do well to instead get this knife. It's just as fast and just as cool.

This ain't the best EDC knife. It's a bit on the heavy side at 3.9 oz, has slick scale, a intrusive cam lock on the spine, and has only moderate deployment speed. For these reasons I classify this knife more of an EDC option not a tactical knife. Buck could improve this series by lightening the scales, putting in a stronger assist spring, reducing the prices (at $55 it's pricey I think for 420HC steel... a good but not great steel I think) and minimizing the cam lock. However it's in the looks department where the Buck Sirus shines. It comes in some striking and original colorations that can add a lot of coolness to your collection. So while its lackluster features might fail to impress, its looks won't. Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 8 of 10 (collectibility enjoyment considered)

A very good video guide on the collectibles location for each item. I point at things of interest and show you which paths to take. For each collectible, I have cleared out all enemies first. Uploaded on 10th November 2008...3 days after the game is released. The last 3 clips are split-screen because I already picked up those tags and the video got corrupted. There is no text guide with it, but leave questions as comments, not messages. ========== Act 2 - Denizens (8 collectibles ) Chapter 2 - Indigenous Creatures (2 collectibles) 1) This collectible is located right before the 2nd rockworm comes out of the hole in the wall. He will come out of the right wall. You cant miss it. There is a mess of vines you need to chainsaw through. Once you chainsaw through the vines the collectible in on the floor right infron to the grindlift. 2) This collectible is located where you fight a bunch of locusts. There will be 2 troika implacements. You'll also see 3 small tents. If you see those you know your in the correct section. You'll see a big door. With the door at your back hug the left wall. You'll see it on the floor Chapter 3 - Disturbing Revelations (1 collectible) 1) This one is a little after you start the chapter. Keep running foward and you'll see a set of stairs. Go up the stairs, which will trigger a cut scene. Go into the door that opens after you kill everyone. The collectible is on the right. Its to the right of a ammo box. Chapter 4 - Sinking Feeling (2 collectibles) 1) This one is very easy to miss. Just keep going through the level. You'll see a building on fire not to far from you. Notice the overturned car? its right behind it. If you need help locating it look at the pics. 2) Progress through this chapter. You'll come across a section where your in a building and you get ambushed by locusts. After you kill some of them a cut scene will start to play (i wont spoil it for you) After the cut scene search the room for a dead body. Directly next to the body is the collectible. Its a COG tag. Chapter 5 - Captivity (1 collectible) 1)After freeing a special someone *WINK WINK* keep going for a few seconds. You'll notice the road kinda spits into 2. The ground leading twards this dead end will be blue. The collectible is at the end of this dead end on the floor Chapter 6 - Intestinal Fortitude (2 collectibles) 1) This collectible is at the VERY begining of the chapter. Its on your left. Its a few feet from where you start the chapter. Its even visable when you start the chapter. 2) After a cut scene involving the rookie or "rook" is this collectible. Hug the Left wall. Once the chapter "origins" begins just walk foward and up a set of stairs. You'll come across a door with video monitors. They will turn on the the recording will speak. To the right of this is a room. Enter the room. Once inside the room turn right and the collectible is on the floor between a desk and what looks like a filing cabinet 2) This as well can be missed very easy. Keep progressing through the chapter. Its the 1st checkpoint after collectible #1. Once you hit the checkpoint you know your in the correct section. You'll see another doorway with monitors on the top of the doorway. To the right is a door thats opened twards the monitors. Go through the door on the right. This will bring you to a short hallway. At the end of it is a closed door. Kick it open. The collectible is on the floor in front of a half open door. 3) This collectible is located in the 2nd building you enter. Its right after the 1st checkpoint in the 2nd building. You'll see a security panel. There is a door to the right of it. Enter the room. Turn left and the collectible is on the floor between the wall and a cart. Chapter 3 - Rude Awakening ( 2 collectibles) 1) This collectible doest show it self till near the end of the chapter. Where your outside and you need to avoid the razorhail. Its right as you 1st exit the building. Dom will suggest to use a train car. Do not go left just yet. You'll see a barn type building to your right. The collectible is on the floor on in the back on the right side. 2) This collectible is right after you open those 3 garage doors to shield yourself from the razorhail. With the train car on your left, turn right. You'll see a doorway. you'll need to dive to avoid the razor hail. Once you enter the room turn to your left. The collectible is on the left wall. Its tally mark written on the wall. Chapter 5 - Displacement ( 1 collectible) 1) this one is near the begining. You'll come to a part where you have to disable a gunship. This is the area the collectible is in. Look at the right side. You'll see a set of stairs. Go up the stairs. There will be more sets of stairs. I think like 3-4. You'll see a ammo box (see pic 37-1 ) next to the stairs you have to go down to get the collectible. The collectible is next to a ammo box. 2) After defending the Comm-Sat is this collectible. This is in the same type of spot as in #1, its on a balcony. After the Col. opens the gate for you to pass go to the very end of the hallway. You'll see the balcony stairs that lead down on your left (there should be a COG soldier there). Go down the stairs and the collectible is on the floor next to a ammo box. Chapter 3 - Free Parking ( 1 collectible) 1) After securing the courtyard you'll come to a spot where you and Dom must turn the wheel to left the gate. Once you kill all the enemies in the courtyard Go to the far right from where you came in. You'll see a chain-link fence. At the fence turn right. You'll see a barrier and a red car. On the floor is a bunch of leaves. The collectible is in the pile of leaves in the floor Chapter 4 - Tenuous Footing ( 2 collectibles) 1) After your reunited with Dom you'll come to a spot where you go through a hole in a building. Go through it. Once you exit the hole, stop and do a 180. You'll see a hole in the building to the right of the hole you just came out of. Walk inside and the collectible is on the floor 2) Finally, the very LAST collectible. I bet you can't wait to finally grab it huh? You'll come to a area where you fall through the floor. Once you hit the bottom you'll see windows you can jump through. Once you kill off the ememies jump through the window to get to the other side. The collectible is right in front of you, its by the desk. Pick it up and the achievement is yours!

Chapter 2 - Answers ( 1 collectible) 1) This collectible near the 2nd terminal. Once you see the 2nd terminal head tward the back on the left side. Its near the trailer that has the Iron maiden looking things on it. Chapter 3 - Hornets' Nest ( 2 collectibles) 1) This collectible is a the begining of the chapter. Go stright untill you make a right at the 1st open entrance. You'll see a set of stairs. Go down them. You'll see a passage to your right, take it. You'll see a bridge starting to be raised. Just hang a left at the end of the passage and the collectible is on the floor next to a locust symbol 2) In the area where Dom asks about the beacon. You'll know if yur in the correct spot because you'll get a new objective. As soon as you see checkpoint appear on your screen you need to haul ass. The gates will start to close. You need to run up 2 sets of starts. One is on the left as you enter this room and the other is on the right. You'll see them, kinda hard not to miss. The gate in front of you will start to close. This is the gate you need to go into. Once you make it turn right and the collectible is on the floor. I am already in the room in the video. Chapter 4 - No Turning Back ( 2 collectibles) 1) This collectible is located in the room after you get off the cable car. You'll see a spiral type stair case. Walk up the stairs to the very top. Once at the top look to your left. If will be next to the wall. It looks almost like a sun-dial. 2) After reuniting with everyone after you split up into 2 groups is this collectible. After reuniting is a checkpoint. You'll need to pull a switch to extend a wooden bridge. Once you cross the wooden bridge head left. You'll see a ammo box. The collectible is next to the ammo box. Chapter 5 - The Best-Laid Plans ( 2 collectibles) 1) This one is easily missed! This collectible is near where you have to take to Locust Lift as a alterinate entrance into the palace. DO NOT use the lift yet. I repeat, DO NO use the lift yet. Once you get to the lift go a 180 so your back is facing the lift. Now you'll notice small stairs that are caged off. Its the 2nd gates after the lift. To make it a little easier. You'll notice those things that pop out of the ground when you walk near it. The 1st one after the lift turn right and the collecible is on the floor in front of the small stairs. 2) After taking the lift you'll come to a point where you have to split up into 2 groups. You'll need to choose the upper (left) path. You'll have to go down a set of stairs and up a set of stairs to get to this. Once you reach the 2nd set of stairs that lead down is this collecible. You'll see a ammo box a little further up. At the very bottom of the stairs in the collectible. It almost looks like the Glaive from dark sector Chapter 6 - Royal Inquisition ( 1 collectible) 1) Once you get to the area where Cole starts mouthing off (he'll start saying I'm home and Number 83 and blah blah blah) turn to the left.
