Jeno Jando Prelude Well-Tempered Clavier (WTC1) Book I No. 2 Bach in C minor Cm The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I: No. 2 In C minor, BWV 847 is one of my favorite Bach pieces for a harpsichord or piano. This is performed by the great Jeno Jando. This version is probably the best, this or the Goldstein. This is from Bach's Famous "Well-Tempered Clavier" he said it was "for the profit and use of musical youth desirous of learning, and especially for the pastime of those already skilled in this study" and indeed it is. Harpsichord performances of several short compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach: Fugue in C major, Prelude and Fugue in B-flat minor, and Sinfonia in E major. The captions give a brief analysis of the compositions and the books they are in: Bach's "Well-Tempered Clavier" (book 1) and his set of 15 inventions and 15 sinfonias. The performances are by Bradley Lehman, 2005, demonstrating the musical characters inherent in his tuning method derived from the title page of Bach's "Well-Tempered Clavier". Pianist David Edward Smith plays Bach's Well-Tempered Clavichord. 1981 vintage video. David Edward Smith, studied piano from the age of 12 (1936) until age 20 (1944) with Dr. Karol Liszniewski of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. My father wrote: "All the Polish celebrities knew Dr. Liszniewski (who speaks Polish besides the Poles?). Arthur Rubinstein and Mieczyslaw Munz often stopped by when they were on tour. So did Rachmaninoff and Paderewski. I would be allowed to sit right next to them--only inches from the keyboard--to watch them practice by the hour--preparing for their solo recitals and concerto performances. They would give me lessons and sometimes, when I was practicing in my room upstairs, they would open the door at the bottom of the stairs and yell such things as 'Practice SLOWLY' or, for example, 'Who told you to do that crescendo in the left hand' (I had done something terrible, no doubt). 'That's good-don't ever change that!' (What a pleasant surprise). Sometimes they would come to my room to watch me practice--stopping me to show better fingering, a more beautiful interpretation, or how to solve some difficult problem 'at hand'. To an artist there is nothing quite so satisfying as the solving of an 'aesthetic problem'."

Natalia Clavier performs "Dormida" from her debut album Nectar (ESL Music) live at La Sala Rossa in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The night is Friday, September 5, 2008. A good crowd filled the hall, which opened its doors to a line of concert-goers standing two-to-three people across, descending two flights of stairs and extending down a hall shared between two sections of the restaurant which occupied the floor beneath the hall. Once inside, though the hall anticipated a standing only crowd, group by group chairs were pulled out from storage spaces beneath the stage. Just before the show, everyone had to move their chairs forward so that those still standing on the stairs just outside could fit into the hall. The air was warm and the vibe of all the people gathered was equally so. Even the air outside complemented the warm feelings that were felt by everyone. As the crowd marinated in their chairs or along the bar that stretched the length of the back of the room, the lights dimmed and the following is what they all saw and heard. This video was taken with a Canon PowerShot digital camera from seats that were no more than 4 feet from the stage. The sound in these videos is a bit imperfect, but I can assure you, when heard live, the amazing clarity brought a whole new dimension. It was familiar to what you hear on the albums, but also, completely different. This was especially the case with Natalia Clavier's music. If you have a chance to see these performances for yourself, do not pass it up.
