Camel Spider - Solifugid

Meet Anubis! The Solifugids/solpugids (sun spiders, camel spiders, child of Earth Spiders, wind scorpions; order Solpugida) are spiderlike and hairy, with two closely placed median eyes. Their most striking characteristic is the enormous size of their chelicerae. These project in front of the head, and each of the pair is composed of two pieces forming a pincer that works in a vertical plane. The pedipalps are leglike, but have a specialized adhesive terminal segment. The pedipalps and the first pair of legs (that have a tactile function) are usually carried above the cephalothorax while the solpugid is standing or running. Solpugids are common in the hot desert regions of the world. These animals cannot be controlled, nor would it be desirable to control them. Source: The University of Arizona.

That's not a spider. This is a spider.

One large spider decided a window on my home was a good place to make it's home. Arachnid, any wingless, carnivorous arthropod of the class Arachnida, including spiders, scorpions, mites, ticks, and daddy-longlegs, having a body divided into two parts, the cephalothorax and the abdomen, and having eight appendages and no antennae

I found a wolf spider with a huge egg sack

I was weed whacking and totally almost killed this sweet thing. She had her egg sack full of unhatched little spiderlings inside. They'll hatch and live on her back for up to two weeks. How's that for a loving mother in a seemingly cold hearted bloodthirsty species. Wolf Spiders are NOT poisonous, well every spider has venom but only a few of them can affect humans. People mistake them for brown recluses and hobo spiders. Hobo spiders don't live on the ground, and if there is one on the ground it's most likely a male. They live in hammock shaped webs in corners. Brown recluses have a fidle shaped design on their cephalothorax and are rather ugly, they look uglier and ganglier than wolf spiders or hobos, they're legs in particular. And another piece of proof for you, I'm up in Idaho, recluses can't survive our winters, they're southern spiders, we don't have any recluses here, our recluses are the hobos. Wolf Spiders are very NONaggressive, of course if you try to pull their legs off they'll bite out of self defense. All any spider wants is to GET THE HELL AWAY FROM YOU, they're never there to hurt you. They think you're ugly and you smell funny, I know this, I heard it from a spider myself. O.o

Spider Attack

http://www.funnyanimalsvideo.org present us this great amazing predator, one of insects that attack and eat other insects every day. This is close up video of spider eating fly. Bone apetit. Made by http://www.clipspromo.com exclusive for http://www.funnyanimalsvideo.org Wikipedia info: Spiders are air-breathing chelicerate arthropods that have two body segments, eight legs, and no chewing mouth parts. About 40,000 species have been identified. In spider's bodies the usual arthropod segments are fused into two tagmata, the cephalothorax and abdomen, joined by a small, cylindrical pedicel. As in all arthropods the coelom is very small and the main body cavity is a hemocoel through which hemolymph delivers oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removes waste products.

Death of the butterflies/a story about Richard Nixon

MUSIC: Oakenfold. All filming done by me free handed with a hi 8mm camera. (SPIDER) The spider species "Argiope aurantia" is commonly known as the Black and Yellow Garden Spider or Writing Spider. It is common to the lower 48 of the United States, southern Canada, Mexico, and Central America. They have distinctive yellow and black markings on their abdomens and a mostly white cephalothorax. Males range from 5 to 9 mm; females from 19 to 28 mm. Like other members of A.aurantia and almost all other spider species, they are considered harmless to humans. This female of the species is striking in appearance with distinct yellow and black markings, including banding on the legs. Despite the vivid color, the garden spider is well camouflaged, blending in easily with partially sunlit areas. The female of the species grows much larger than the male. Females have large rounded bodies that may grow to 40 mm (1 1/2 inches), excluding the legs. If the length of the legs is added, the female can reach 75 mm (3") in diameter. Males are thin-bodied and only 20 mm (¾") long. Aurantia has three claws on each foot, unlike spiders that have only two claws and do not spin orb-webs. The third claw helps them manage the strands of silk while they spin the complicated web. The young of the species resemble the adults, except for size and the development of reproductive organs. These spiders are not dangerous to people, and their bites result in nothing more than a sore, itchy swelling that goes away in a few days. The medical literature contains at least one report of a bite by A.aurantia (Gorham and Rheney 1968). Mild pain some distance from the site of the bite was suggestive of a neurotoxin. http://www.cs.utk.edu/~plank/plank/pics/spider.html (BUTTERFLIES) Palamedes Swallowtails "Papilio palamedes" The Palamedes Swallowtail is a large, dark swallowtail butterfly marked with yellow spots and bands. It is particularly common in and near swampy woods. Its eggs are pale yellow-green. Older larvae are green with a pale yellow lateral line edged beneath with a fine black line. The underside of the larva is pinkish-brown. Abdominal segments have a transverse band of six blue dots with each dot ringed by a fine black line (much thinner than those on larvae of the spicebush swallowtail, Papilio troilus). One dot on each side is beneath the lateral line. There are a pair of large tan false eyespots lined with black on the rear of the thorax. The eyespots have a large black center and a white "false reflection" above. Larvae also have a smaller pair of tan spots at the front of the abdomen. Pupae are green with a white lateral line edged above with a purple-brown line. Pupae have two short horns. http://www.carolinanature.com/butterflies/palamedes.html (GECKOS) The Leopard gecko "Eublepharis macularius" is a nocturnal ground-dwelling gecko found in the deserts of Pakistan, Western India, Afghanistan, and parts of Iran. Unlike most geckos it possesses eyelids. Leopard geckos have become well established in captivity, particularly the pet industry. Info: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Spider video

The Scorpion is so small its hard to see and the footage of the spider did not go as planned. I could not get the spider to feed, I think it had a male spider hanging around maybe that had somthing to do with it. You can see the other small spider in the web it did however go after the grasshoppers. I plan to look into what type of spider the small one may have been. I have heard of spiders that hunt on the webs other spiders have built, purhaps that is the case here. Any imput/info on that is very welcome. I spent 4 hours filming trying to get the spider to feed without success, I am however quite pleased with the finished video. Daddy Long Legs___NOT SPIDER

A male Phalangium opilio, showing the distinguishable long legs. Daddy long legs. NOT A SPIDER!! The difference between harvestmen and spiders is that in harvestmen the two main body sections (the abdomen with ten segments and cephalothorax, or prosoma and opisthosoma) are broadly joined, so that they appear to be one oval structure; they also have no venom or silk glands.
