This simple but moving arrangement for female soloist and mixed choir beautifully sets to music the passage in Luke 2: 29-32. It is appropriate to sing this song during the Advent season when the Church waits to celebrate the birth of Christ. The lyrics of the verses recall God's promise to send His Son, Emmanuel, to be the Light of the world. The words and melody can help set a reflective mood during personal prayer as we prepare for Christmas, or it can also be used as a psalm or communion hymn during the celebration of Mass.

This is a song from the Doom-Metal-oriented album "Arcane Rain Fell". Do not expect female vocals or abundant orchestration here - you won't get them! This is a guitar-driven Gothic/Doom piece with nonetheless excruciatingly sad melodies!

Here's one of my guitar students playing Scarbouro Fair. To make it just a little more challenging, I sang the Canticle part along with her. It took her two lesson sessions to finally get through the whole song on video without any major mistakes, but all things considered, I thought it came out pretty good. This English folk song dates back to late medieval times, when the seaside resort of Scarborough was an important venue for tradesmen from all over England. Founded well over a thousand years ago, Scarborough Faire was a 45 day trading event in medieval times. I used the Book of Hours to tell the story of Scarborough Faire and also the Canticle under it. Mount Carmel Academy Chorale perform St. Therese's Canticle of Love as composed by Sisters Claire Sokol and Michael Marie Nolan. Sister Claire of the Desert Dawn Carmelite Trio accompanies the chorale on the cello with Sister Mary Margaret Yascolt(flute) and Sister Clorinda Stokapler ("piano")in a Katrina benefit concert at the St. Louis Cathedral in NOLA. Note: I am not a videographer but I wanted to somehow capture and share this beautiful music.
