Diomedes and the Age of Heroes

Title:
Diomedes and the Age of Heroes

Description:
The song is ΠΟΤΕ ΜΟΥ ΔΕ ΜΙΛΩ ΓΙ΄ΑΥΤΗ (when don't I talk about her), by Pantelis Thalassinos (Παντελής Θαλασσινός). The paintings are mostly from Anselm Feuerbach. The models are: Giorgos Bavelis, Charis Plousis, and Giorgos Chimonetos. Diomedes (Διομήδης) was from Argos (Άργος), beautiful and ancient. Some of the pictures of the landscapes are of this great city, which according to scholars, was one of the homelands of Pelasgians. Diomedes was a great warrior and became a king at a young age. He was perhaps even more important than Achilles in the narrative of the Trojan war. He also led 80 ships, coming close to Agamemnon's 100. During the Trojan war, Athena gives him the ability to recognize gods when they assume human form. He injured Aphrodite and derailed many of the plans set by the gods favouring Troy. Alluded to in the video is Metempsychosis, the ancient Greek belief in reincarnation believed to have originated with Orpheus, and championed later on by Pherecydes (Φερεχύδης)and Pythagoras (Πυθαγόρας). All comments are welcome!

Wars on Canvas 19: The Trojan War
Continuing the series by getting closer to individual battles, we start with Greece, but before the great battles with the Persians, there was Troy. Paris fell enamored of Helen and stole her away to Troy, upsetting her husband, Menelaus, greatly. Thus a thousand ships were launched and a long siege began. But it took subterfuge and a giant hollow horse to sway the outcome. Fact or myth? Who can say with certainty. But the story has intrigued artists, writers, and musicians through the ages....

Johannes Brahms - Nänie, opus 82 The poem Nänie was written in 1799 by the German author Friedrich Schiller and it means Song of Mourning; it laments the death of all things beautiful. Brahms composed the music for Nänie in 1881 as a tribute honoring his German artist friend, Anselm Feuerbach, who had recently died. Many of Feuerbach´s paintings were scenes from classical antiquity - Greek myths and philosophers. Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra - Claudio Abbado
Perseus and Andromeda
The song is 'Erotas einai erotas' (It is Love) by Notis Sfakianakis (Νότης Σφακιανάκης). Perseus (Περσέας) is one of the earliest Greek archetypes of masculinity. He was of the royal blood of Argos, and many Greeks claimed him as their ancestor. From Alexander the Great and other Jeraklid Dorians, through Heracles, to the Mycenaean Kings, through Atreus. Perseus has been a constant inspiration for Greeks, Romans and all of Western Civilization. His encounter with Medusa shows how myth is ...
