In Ayutthaya Historic Park, tourists can ride elephants. Just outside the city is the elephant corral, where those elephants and their mahoots (keepers) live. Not well publicised, but you can visit there and see the elephants up close and personal.

Millions of visitors travel to the temple ruins to witness a reminder of the kingdom that once existed and flourished in this area.
