COMEDY DUBLIN
BALCONYTV.COM 2/12/2006 PRESENTED BY COMEDY DUBLIN ComedyDublin is an established comedy troupe with an ever-evolving line-up, who celebrated their 2nd birthday in May 2006 Following a successful run in the 2005 Bulmer's International Comedy Festival, where more than 500 people filled the seats and laughed exactly every 30 seconds according to the ComedyDublin's licensed laughologists, ComedyDublin is pleased to announce they were asked to return again in September 2006. BALCONYTV.COM 7/11/2007 PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN Fresh from the success of their two top twenty singles, the Coronas are back with their new single "San Diego Song" which is a prequel to their stunning debut album "Heroes and Ghosts" - set for release on October 5th. A recent string of gigs in the Village, two sold out shows in Whelan's, and a spellbinding set on the 2nd stage at Oxegen, has seen this indie four-piece take the Irish music scene by storm. With influences including Jeff Buckley and the Beatles, the past year has seen the Coronas enjoy rave reviews, sign a record deal, and enjoy much regional and national radio airplay. All still just 22, the Coronas are quietly creating something special and it seems that if "San Diego Song" is any indication of what's to come on the album then it will be inevitable that they are set for big things. http://www.myspace.com/coronaband http://www.coronas.net Tune in again tomorrow!!!
CODES
BALCONYTV.COM 28/09/2007 PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT Codes create melodic Alternative/Electronic music in a haunted victorian house at the top of a hill in suburban Dublin, Ireland. Codes are responsible for the bright lights and sounds you've been hearing coming from the house late at night. Beats, piano, glockenspiel, guitars, samples, broken toys and four part harmonies are used/abused to create such sounds. At times these sounds are brought to different locations and performed to unsuspecting onlookers. Codes are influenced by winter, landscapes, staring into space, movie soundtracks, skyscrapers, constellations, and places they've never been. http://www.myspace.com/codesofficial http://www.codes.ie Tune in again tomorrow!!!
MOESLEY BALCONYTV.COM 27/07/2006
If variety is the spice of life, Moesley are a musical curry. From their beginnings in 2004, Moesley have developed a sound that diversifies with each song, while retaining a common strand of quirkiness that is distinctly theirs. Their gigs have become a must, taking audiences on sometimes bizarre, often unusual, but always hugely entertaining journeys. This Dublin band incorporate styles to suit everyone, making them an extremely refreshing prospect. Moesley are a Band from Artane, Dublin that consists of Glenn, Colm and Eoin Cullen, Paul O'Brien and David Murray. Moesley are releasing their First single late summer '06. The sinlge "All Thats Left" was recorded over a 4 day recording and mixing session in dublins top of the range Creamy Sonic Studios. PAUL BRADY
BALCONYTV.COM 28/07/2006 PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN Paul Brady is one of Ireland's most enduringly popular artists. A Fifties child, his early heroes were Jerry Lee Lewis, Winifred Atwell and Fats Domino. After living in London and New York City in the early 70s Paul returned to Dublin to join Planxty, the premier Irish folk band of the time. This was the band that was to launch the solo careers of Andy Irvine, Liam O' Flynn, Donal Lunny and Christy Moore. After an acclaimed solo folk album "Welcome Here Kind Stranger" (1978) which won the Melody maker Folk Album of the year, he released "Hard Station" in 1981 which was an original reworking of his earlier influences. The albums which followed established Paul as the pre-eminent Irish singer-songwriter of his generation.   In 2001, Paul released 'The Missing Liberty Tapes' featuring a lost live recording of a Paul Brady concert in Dublin in 1978. The classic record also features Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Liam O'Flynn, Matt Molloy, Paddy Glackin and Noel Hill. In August 2002 RTE television, Ireland's national TV station, filmed a six programme series featuring Paul's music, called 'The Paul Brady Songbook'. Shown to acclaim in Ireland the series is now available on a three hour DVD. In 2004 Paul recorded in Nashville, the result of which was the 2005 released album 'Say What You Feel' an organic and fresh sounding record, mostly cut live and in one or two takes at most per song. The IRA speak
This is the provisional IRA putting forward their position. This was taken in the late '80 or early '90. __________ I'm a representative of the general headquarter staff of Óglaigh na hÉireann, the IRA. I don't see any merit discussing individuals as targets, sufficive to say that the people who legislate were the terror in Ireland. Know well that they all remain targets. And I'm sure that Mrs. Thatcher when she goes down upon her knees with a mirror checking underneat her car in the morning remembers the terror, she inflicted on Ireland. Our strategy is that through the effective use of guerilla warfare, and through continually maintaining an effective fighting force, we will eventually sap the political will of the British government to remain in Ireland. If the British government were prepared to show even one iota of leadership, and were to begin moves to disengage from this country, then the conflict would cease.
