Peidong Yang Wins Waterman Award, 5/15/07
Chemistry Professor Peidong Yang shares his research goals after winning the $500,000 Alan T. Waterman Award, a prize that recognizes an outstanding young scientist who is revolutionizing research. Video includes images of the microscopic nanowires that will operate in ultraviolet lasers, smaller computer chips, and more efficient solar panels. Photoresponsive single nanorod- By Rabih
"This is a single photoresponsive nanorod of 9-AC: 60 microns long and 200 nm in diameter. When exposed to UV light it photoreacts and snaps mimicking Cilia movement. It slowly reverts back in the dark. This process is reversible an indefinite number of times. The movie is actual speed. It takes it 5 minute in the dark to revert back. I edited out those 5 minute intervals. The nanorod is around 500 molecules thick!! By "UC-Riverside "

Nanowires and Nanocrystals for Nanotechnology
Google Tech Talks September 12, 2006 Yi Cui is an assistant professor in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Stanford University. He is a recipient of the Technology Review World Top 100 Young Innovator Award. He received his PhD degree from Harvard University working with Prof. Charles Lieber. He received his B.S. degree from Univ of Science and Technology of China. ABSTRACT Nanowires and nanocrystals represent important nanomaterials with one-dimensional and zero-dimensional morphology, respectively. Here I will give an overview on the research about how these nanomaterials impact the critical applications in faster transistors, smaller nonvolatile memory devices, efficient...
