Lets begin with eliminating the stereotype that Jamaica is a dangerous place to vacation. I have been going there for 10+ years and this jewel of the Caribbean is able to blend modern comforts with nature’s beauty. Like everywhere else in the world, if you’re traveling to a place without doing some homework, wandering into areas you do not know, or going somewhere alone with a stranger, you may run into trouble. However, as a repeat Jamaica vacationer, I am saddened to hear people say they wont go there because they think it is "dangerous". Let's wipe that rumor away.

Negril. My personal favorite spot in all of Jamaica is located across parts of two Jamaican parishes, Westmoreland and Hanover. Warning - it is about a 2-3hr drive from Montego Bay or you can take a small plane. It’s a large stretch of beach that hasn’t forgotten why people flock to the Caribbean. Endless sugar white sand beaches and magical sunsets, I have two of the best spots to experience each. The beach is really an easy call, as the famous 7-Mile Beach and White Sand Beach are both located there. Although witnessing the sunset from either of these two spots are prodigious, if you want to wow at this every day occurrence like one of the locals then there is no better place then Rick’s Café. Rent a moped or take a cab and be whisked away to a time where life ran at a different pace. On your way to the top of the hill where Rick’s Café sits, you are greeted by vendors selling their wares from shacks, bringing you back to the old time island feeling. Once there, Rick’s Café offers the most spectacular view of the sun set that mere words can not describe. Along with witnessing the sun setting, this is the place to do your cliff diving…so make sure you have someone to take your moped back! Negril has no high-rises, only low level hotels and villas and the view from each one of them is breathtaking. If you want to feel like one of the rich and famous, but not pay for it, Grand Lido Resort & Spa, another SuperClubs all inclusive would be a top pick. Grand Lido is a 4 ½ star resort that includes everything that you come to expect from a SuperClubs resort.
