Many religions have
religious texts which are sometimes described as the Word of God. For example,
Christians often refer to the
Bible as
God's word, though some suggest that
Jesus Christ, rather than any written text, is the word of God.
[1]
Captalizing the w in 'Word' often makes reference to the
Logos, and extends it beyond the idea of written text (
words)to a mystic understanding of the universeal creative principle or the animating power of the universe. In this sense, one may refer to both the Bible and Jesus as being the Word of God -- "The Word in words" and "the Word made flesh" respectively.
