Tramlink Station

Access to the platforms is via stairs to the side of the station building. Tramlink Route 1 between Elmers End station and Croydon and Route 2 between Beckenham Junction and Croydon serve the station. The next stops in each direction are Arena tram stop and Blackhorse Lane tram stop.

Railway Station

The station opened in 1871 by the South Eastern Railway to serve the popular nearby race course. It was constructed with a ramp to facilitate the transport of racehorses. The closure of the course in 1890 heralded a slow decline for the station.
Rail services used to run through Woodside on the routes London to Addiscombe and London to Sanderstead. Over the years services were reduced and no longer continued to London, stopping at Elmers End. The route to Selsdon Road closed in 1983, but in the 1990s, Tramlink was planned and the route of Tramlink now uses that rail line between Elmers End and Lloyd Park. The station became unstaffed in 1993 and the Addiscombe spur was finally closed in 1997 and is planned to become a "Addiscombe Linear Park".
The station, which was built at street level over the platforms, was closed in 1997 in advance of the arrival of Tramlink, although it has not been demolished.
