'Walter de Lacy' (
1180 –
1240) was Lord of
Meath and
Ludlow.
With his father
Hugh de Lacy he built
Trim Castle (''Caisleán Bhaile Atha Troim'' in
Irish),
Trim, County Meath.
In
1211 he erected the castle on
Turbet Island in the abortive
Anglo-Norman attempt to gain control of West Ulster.
