VERMONT STREET, SAN FRANCISCO

Vermont Street Mid Way Down

'Vermont Street' exists within the Potrero Hill district of San Francisco, California, bordering the 101 freeway.
A section of the street between 20th and 22nd, near McKinley Square, features a series of seven sharp turns. This has led the street to be dubbed "the crookedest in the world" in competition with the better known Lombard Street (Vermont, while steeper than Lombard, has fewer turns, and is in a much less picturesque location than Lombard). The GPS-guided electronic audio tour guide featured in some rental vehicles identifies Vermont Street as the more crooked street.
Unlike Lombard's red brick construction, Vermont is made of concrete.
