'Varsity View' is one of the original neighbourhoods of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Development started along the riverbank and in the Nutana neighbourhood in 1884. Homesteading began across the South Saskatchewan River with the advent of ferry service. Residences spread to Varsity View, especially with the addition of the University of Saskatchewan on April 3, 1907. Englishman Richard Bottomley built the first Varsity View home circa 1912 during Saskatoon's "Hub City" years. The investment in community came to fruition later as neighboring roads were settled in the 1920s and 1950s.Saskatoon Varsity View - Neighborhood Information URL accessed February 18, 2007]
